It should have been taken at the least, and she could have been charged or denied entry for what is an obvious attempt to bring drugs into the US.
Compared to border control officers of other countries like Great Britain or Australia, US officers seem to be not that much trained in respectful manners and in acting professional.
This should be a teachable moment for the officers in the Trinidad passenger scenario. They need to sit in a room and watch their behavior and then be retrained. This is not a cartoon. It is a humiliating and degrading experience and they should be more professional. All that side bar is uncalled for 🤷🏽♀️
It's a little weird that she was going to stay here for only one day. If I flew to Trinidad it wouldn't be for only one day. Trinidad has border security too, you know. Everybody does. Also, it's weird that they couldn't verify anything she said to them, and she was using a debit card that didn't have her name on it. It's not common to check someone's ID to make sure it matches the debit card, but if anyone did, they would question what's going on, right? There's several factors that lead them to question her more: -coming here for only one day -contact doesn't answer phone -doesn't have hotel set up already -has debit card with someone else's name -coming from Trinidad, which Homeland Security had identified as a common source of addictive narcotics Their job is to help protect the national security of the USA. OF COURSE they are going to look into something like that. Turned out to be nothing, but it was a little weird. If you were a border security officer, you would have questioned her, too.
She's just carrying her uncle's luggage and doesn't even know his name....yep I believe that one-NOT. Her cousin's husband who's also her uncle? This is the worst lie I've heard. They were beyond petty and too judgmental for my liking. Those comments that they stated regarding her being low income, supporting herself in the U.S. and they kept questioning her finances. I need them to take several seats as not everyone from the Caribbean is poor and struggling for money. Average people in the Caribbean have better savings account that some folks here in the U.S. I know lots of people who come to Miami for a day or two, shop in the shopping district in Miami, near the airport, make quick turnaround back to the Islands. I've seen a lot however I've never seen Customs waiting to search a passenger designated for an outbound flight leaving the U.S.

@14:08, wow I feel bad for these officers if they really think their prescription medication overdose problem is because of smugglers...as if the actual pharmaceutical companies in America don't have anything to do with prescription medication addiction and deaths.
Illegal drugs are far more dangerous than Rx drugs. With an Rx drugs, you know EXACTLY how much active ingredient is in it. Heroin and fentanyl laced heroin are extremely hard to judge the contents. Far more people accidentally overdose (and sometimes die) from fentanyl laced heroin, fake heroin, and counterfeit oxycodone pills than they do from RX drugs. Blaming a drug company is like blaming a car company for drunk driving accidents. Derrrrrp. See how dumb that sounds?
The problem is that the government do not make money from the pharmaceutical when they are brought from abroad. Not because is illegal, I mean those kinds of medications are so expensive in the US and cheap in other country. So, if they are brought into the US, that means loss for the government.
This what i don't understand it's she alone traveling and have so many medications and didn't seclared nothing she's very lucky that they didn't aress her. Sometimes it is we causes thing's to happen to us.
I imagine there's some element of truth to this statement. The safety of citizens taking medication from other nations that don't have the same quality control measures as the US among other things is also a concern.
What? The border agent returned the “Neo-Codion” to the traveler - so it was _not_ prohibited? Yet, he chided her, and warned her not to bring it in again. So, which is it? Allowed? Or prohibited?
If you paid attention, he told her not to bring it in again but let her go with it because of the tiny amount in the pills. It’s a gray area but he was Forsure power tripping over it and trying to make himself look good on tv. It backfired hard. Lol
We got stopped and searched at the airport because my husband had a bunch of bags of gummy bears in his suitcase. We all laughed at the time and the agent was super nice. Now that I’ve watched a number of these videos I can see how they looked unusual on the X-ray.

My girl will fill a couple shopping carts in an hour 🤣 Plus, the lady she already knows where to go and I’m sure buys same item in many sizes, one day is enough. Also, more days means more hotel nights, which means more costs. She has it all figured it out, she should probably take your job and send you shopping lol
In a later interview: "My wife tried to dissuade me from smuggling". Cop: "But you said your wife didn't know about it. Why should we believe you now when you were lying to us before?". Diy you really think this through?
What do you mean she's too calm, if you haven't done anything wrong why would you worry. These officers are too suspicious for their own good. I thought they were trained to catch a smuggler 😂oh well, kinda like the police 🤣
It’s not that serious they don’t hate them for being innocent but obviously it is irritating pursuing an innocent person. It takes time away from getting someone who actually does have drugs or whatever
As an African you can find yourself behind the bars easily when u travel there is always a family member asking u to carry something for them they’ll give you a bag well packed sometimes even taped you won’t think they might do such thing to you and it’s really hard to say no
I’m Central American and our family customs are similar, we can’t say no to an elder so now I tell them “it’s illegal for me to take anything packaged and it has to be in a clear bag or else I can’t take it” which made my family not ask me at all or they send really small items now.
I remember my mom, dad and aunts back in the day brining lots of items for people to bring back as gifts etc. now my advice to them is to not bring anything back they haven’t packed and open themselves. Personally when I travel overseas I pack all my own stuff and throughly inspect my luggage for any tempering an hour before I leave and hold my own luggage from the room and put in in the trunk. I help with the removal as well and keep it close to me at all times at the airport.
I laughed so hard at the intro stating "they are presumed innocent until proven guilty" 🤣 This isn't the 80s or 90s. We live in "presumed guilty until proven innocent" culture now.
they treat people like criminals, question them, go over their stuff and their phone as if there is no such thing as privacy. disgusting animals abusing their power
I think a lot of people from the Caribbean, come to Miami, to buy things. Once, there was an auction at the airport, for unclaimed, or lost luggage. I went and got a large bag, for $60. It had in it, several hundred dollars, of brand new things. Mostly womens clothes, and electronics. I never thought, that some of the things, may have had drugs in them !
Happens 10k times a day or more along the US- Mexico border. Mexican Nationals enter the US to buy goods for personal use or resale. You would be surprised how many Mexican Nationals have a tourist VISA to enter the US.
I’ve done security and most are ones who’s could make the academy and do too much or those you wanna be a cop bad.there are lazy ones and the ones who do a job and leave
Not that I'm condoning their behavior, but if prescription drugs were more affordable here people wouldn't have to buy them in other countries and either try to smuggle them in or ship them in.
In other countries they may be able to buy things like that over the counter and they might not even realize that they’re breaking the law by bringing it into the country.

This should be a teachable moment for the officers in the Trinidad passenger scenario. They need to sit in a room and watch their behavior and then be retrained. This is not a cartoon. It is a humiliating and degrading experience and they should be more professional. All that side bar is uncalled for 🤷🏽♀️
yes in reference to the trini lady.. that fat custom guy was definitely rude .
When they were initially walking away from the camera with her, they started speaking Spanish to one another.. Immediately irritated me.
There's several factors that lead them to question her more:
-coming here for only one day
-contact doesn't answer phone
-doesn't have hotel set up already
-has debit card with someone else's name
-coming from Trinidad, which Homeland Security had identified as a common source of addictive narcotics
Their job is to help protect the national security of the USA. OF COURSE they are going to look into something like that. Turned out to be nothing, but it was a little weird. If you were a border security officer, you would have questioned her, too.

I remember my mom, dad and aunts back in the day brining lots of items for people to bring back as gifts etc. now my advice to them is to not bring anything back they haven’t packed and open themselves.
