Just found your channel today. I'm currently editing our Hawaii Vacation and this video gave me so much inspiration. Your videos makes me miss living in Hawaii.
I'm glad this gave you some inspo! That's great that you have some footage to work with, my favorite type of videos to create are travel/vacation vlogs since they serve as digital diaries and time capsules to look back on :') Have fun editing your video!
I have been trying to get into filming and this video is so helpful and easy to understand!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! I love your videos!!
This made me feel so excited to take my camera out of the house again! Thank you for the tutorial and tips, Rena and Jack!! ✨💻📹✨ I am excited to try to make a postcard video :D
too much work for a short clip! huhuhu. I really appreciate the tutorial (complete from gears to color grading, i must say!). nice idea on the video postcard! will try this! tyty.
rena, i just discovered your YT and im amazed!! you & jack make insightful & easy-to-follow tutorials :) how do you think about timing/pacing (eg how long clips should be or when to change music)? looking forward to your videos!
I'm so glad to hear that the tutorials are easy to follow :') I think just like they say "writing is rewriting" , often times "editing is re-editing". I'll always do a rough cut and then play through the video and just feel it out. If sometimes feels off or unnatural, I'll take a moment to see if shortening the clip or lengthening it feels better. It's hard to explain but...just watching through the video and "feeling it out" is the method I use when it come to pacing 😅
It's completely up to you! I personally like to keep it 1-2 minutes since it feels like you're flipping through postcards and it's not heavily focused on any story/narrative!
This isn’t just a cinematic postcard tutorial. This is gold dust from concept to delivery as a creative! 👏
Thank you 🥺❤
