  • After doing a real shoot with a real couple and the Sigma 35mm f1.2 FE, today I'm giving you my review. Its amazing but BIG, deal breaker for some and not for others. Also is it good enough for me to get it instead of the Sony 35mm 1.8?

When you use the Sony A7RIV, thanks to the different cropping options available, the Sigma 35mm F1,2 becomes even more versatile and the rendering is sublime.
    I use it with the Sony 20mm F1.8 and the 135mm F1.8.

I also have had this lens for about 2 weeks now and have shot with it in a few events and a project. The sharpness, the AF, the bokeh are all just out of this world. the only downside is the weight, every time I took it for a photoshoot, I had the longest day of my life carrying it around. It's huge and heavy and you won't realise it until you pick one yourself.

Thank you for your review. I can understand your decision to stay with the f1.8 based on the reasons given, but your sample photos have amazed me. I had no idea a 35mm lens could take such wonderful portraits that remind me of those taken with a 135mm lens, and yet can take scenes with everything in focus. I think you have sold me on the Sigma 35mm F1.2 L mount for my new S5.

I don't do weddings so for me it's a non issue. I use for a make shift macro on occasion though. Also, it's not the only lens I own. The beauty of the lens is it's unique look and being able to employ that when it fits the shot. It's gem, maybe not in the contemporary sense of sharpness and maybe not by modern technical standards. Uniqueness, has it place. At least in my bag. Your mileage may differ.
