  • Take note on how zero people are in this gym. Very unfortunate how the vintage bodybuilding gyms are dying out as the planet fitnesses of the world are thriving.

Eric we’ve both been through a lot in the past few years. I’ve watched all your videos dating back to the start of your channel, including all the Patreon posts, and I just wanna say you are so right about deadlifting adding poundage to the body.
I was always a small guy weighing in the low 160s even when I was lifting, but I tried your style of lifting and diet for about a year in 2020 and easily packed on 15 pounds of pure thickness. I stopped lifting shortly after having my first kid and I kid you not a lot of that weight stayed on me permanently and gave me a decent muscular frame even when I wasn’t lifting and bulking.
Just want to say thank you I guess

Ric, everyone keeps commenting that they are sorry what WWE did to you. Sure, you could look at it like a bad situation. However, maybe they did you a favor. Maybe you are dodging more injuries, health problems, and a possible future substance abuse issue. While a few of those guy end their careers well off and healthy, more have short tortured lives. Everyone wants to think they will be different but maybe not. If you leverage your past exposure and skills correctly you may be more successful than ever. If it’s your dream to continue wrestling by all means do what you have to. However, I think you might be in a good position for success and to keep your health. Keep your head up and keep in mind how fortunate you are.

Yeah his gimmick in wwe was basically just asking for more injuries. He’d do good in pro wrestling if he dropped like 15 pounds and used his background to favor a more traditional style. Huge fan of Eric and loved seeing him in wwe, but he didn’t seem very good in the ring, and a big reason was because of the style they gave him. He’d just fumble around and wait for his moment he’s meant to grab someone. If he wanted to continue pro wrestling I feel Impact/TNA would be the move, but I’m not sure if it’s even a passion of his to want to pursue it. Either way he should definitely take a break from it to rehab and bulletproof his joints as best as he can. Would love to see him fully utilized, felt his entire wwe run he wasn’t being used well at all

Eric, I started tuning in with my younger brother back in 2017 after someone mentioned you on the weight room Reddit. My younger bro lit up one day when you replied and hearted his comment when he was about 11 years old. I went through my first dirty bulk and set my heavy PRs (which I will break here soon) with your intensity as I screamed in my car and slammed back catatonic amounts calories. Our parents divorced around that time and it’s still tough especially on the younger guy. I’m getting him into deadlifting here soon, but the negative eccentric is where there is the most tension.
I still have your Mustard up the strength drawing framed next to your action figure and two “It’s a Mindset” shirts. Metal n Iron.

It's crazy been lifting since year 7/ grade 7 and it only feels like in the last 3 years I've been doing it properly. Growing up in rural UK with no exposure to bodybuilding or lifting stuff meant I did so much shit wrong. Like reading somewhere that cheese had high protein so would just devour blocks of cheddar to get big, and only had like 2 adjustable dumbbells with 20kg worth of plates so just did sets of like 30+ reps with them. Remember I wanted to dunk so did a training program for it with lots of explosive one legged jumps etc, and used our concrete yard to do them on. Gave myself shin splints for like 6 months, but hey my quads did explode in size.
Made more progress in last 3 years than the 12 years before

Man I WISH they had some vintage/ privately owned gyms in my area. Sterilized commercial gym takeover is so real.

You ever go to Red lerilles health and racquet club in Lafayette? That place is absolutely ginormous and absolutely PACKED with all sorts of equipment, both old and new. I’d highly recommend you go there when you are in the area.

Can you tell us about how college wrestling started, ended, and how you got into WWE etc?

Rick the Stick! I've been a fan of your stuff ever since I randomly came across one of your videos several years ago getting high off metal and caffeine hitting nasty PR's with lifts most people don't even know about. Keep up the good work man; you are an inspiration to so many people on here! Now that you are out of a contract do you have plans on hitting indie shows; or possibly doing youtube collabs again with folks like Jujimufu?

Dog you gotta start reviewing as you're at the gym and do a little podcast bit at the end with the owners. Might take a little more effort n time but it'd go hard.

Stone Cold's wrestling career started with him getting fired from WCW after having a crappy gimmick and being injured. Maybe AEW, ROH, NJPW, or one of the other many wrestling promotions will be better for you right now anyway. Maybe a heel turn calling out all the cookie cutters and Johnny 2 plates of the world with full on basement era promos filled with passion and added disgust to the people that just don't have the mindset of a champion.

I can hear a slight hint of sadness in del hagen's voice in this one. Maybe I'm imagining it. I usually make a joke in the comments but I just wanna say we're here for you Eric. We'll support whatever you do going forward. Except if you collab with athlean-x, I can't support that. Anyway much love
