The best M car in the lineup right now is in my opinion the 6MT M2. It pretty much represent what the brand is about, plus it's both a modern day E30 M3/2002 Turbo and a 2016 M3 E46.
an M2 is nothing like an E30 M3 or any 2002, chassis balance is all wrong for starters. Have you driven either of those cars? The closest you've gotten is the E46, it's a more powerful, better handling E46. The E46 was good but did not handle as well as the E30 both the E30 and E36 handle better than the E46. If you want an affordable, good M-car that will only go up in value, I'd stop right at a clean, unmolested E36 M3.

I own a 2015 M4 , a 2016 M4 GTS and a 2017 M6 coupe . All three seven speed double clutch cars. I drive my GTS everyday . I removed the roll cage ( it's just dumb ) and now the little GTS is a real business coupe capable of immence cargo capability .in my opinion the GTS is purrfect. Comfortable , great seats , GPS , A/C . Incredible performance , I opened the exhaust flaps , raised the wing . It's wonderful . People say they ride harsh , those people never drove a Hemi Cuda , to me the GTS ride is tight but not bad , at all . The price is high , but worth every penny . With the cage removed it hauls WAY more cargo than my M6 , more usable than any Porsche or corvette....and it's just plain fun. Always makes me smile . Most reviews on the GTS are looking at the car from the wrong viewpoint . Thank you Lord Jesus for blessing me and thank you BMW for building incredible automobiles .

Ugh the oh it has to have three pedals to be a sports car? Sports cars really need to be driven on tracks to really experience them. Have you driven or owned or better yet tracked a dct car? They are faster, period. AND they are a blast to drive, makes me feel like an F1 driver. That being said my main track car is a manual, but if there was a DCT option, I would have taken it. You can really threshold brake deep into a corner. And you manual purists, how many can even properly heel/toe? M4 GTS is on my possible next car list, but I had a student with a brand new M2 Competition that was superbly impressive.
I own both an E36 M3 and an E46 M3 - great cars BUT - it's getting to the point that no one, especially the Dealers, can service them Properly - BMW has S@#t customer relations for people like me - You Have Been Warned .........
I have a 2018 M4 Competition Convertible and I have zero complaints. Incredible daily drive, and definitely turns heads everywhere I go. It turned more heads than my 2011 Gallardo haha.
While the M2 is a good drivers car it is BMW's price point offer to a market that cannot inhale a M4 and looks like it inside. Give me the M4 all day long, more of everything and is a great drivers car too....with a lot more power with the competition pack which does equal fun.

Fantastic video, as usual I may add. why your subs aren't bigger beggars belief. The M2 is the one. A true successor to the M3. I loved the 1 series Coupe/mini saloon, the 1M 135i is super, and the M2 has refined it. I'm not sure which is better, well the M2 is better, but the more raw 1M is a mighty car also. The M4 styling just isn't right, it's tying to be a Coupe, but for me at least, it just doesn't work, it's too big at the rear. From the wind mirrors back it reminds me of the vauxhall Morano, which in its day was cool.

Is it just me or do the door pulls (on the GTS) look like normal door handles. You can see them when he turns the wheel?! I want to put that GTS front splitter on a longbeach blue M2 and instead of the gold highlight around the bottom get the LB blue. Throw on the Akrapovich Titanium Exhaust and paint the black parts of the M2 alloys LB blue... hmm maybe leave the wheels... but yea make a mini M2 GTS :D

I had the same opinion for most of my life. However, times change and a solid DCT is no just a quick shifter. The stand out advantage is having both hands on the wheel when you are at or near the limit in the turns, especially when tossing the quickly weight back and forth quickly. I own two manual, an SMG, and a DCT, and I love them all. I think most people don't understand is it takes time to learn how to use a transmission with a hydraulic clutch. It's like playing an instrument, and when done well it is not only rewarding but fast That being said I will never own an automatic!.

Buy a standart M4, put some bolt ons on it, cage it, put some racing seats in it and a nice suspension, get a better driving, faster and cheaper car than the GTS, profit $$$.
A car with after market parts will never make you any profit what you want is strictly oem parts on your car will you have a faster better handling car for half the price of oem parts ? possibly but their is no way it'll make you profit it'll most likely devalue it even faster
But the real new E30 is still the surprisingly fast forgotten 1M coupe. I think that the 1M was the first sign that BMW's engineers realized they have omitted one very important thing in the E90s ..... the soul. And the 1M was the 1st "sports car" that showed us that BMW is back. Or it was just a marketing thing, in order to get even more people on buying overpriced technology, making the first argument irrelevant :))))) I'm sure it's one of these two. 2RBO
Best M car? The one without the need for fake engine noise over the speakers. God the current crop of standard M cars sound terrible. So I guess the GTS... Or better yet, none of them: E46 M3, E39 M5 - THOSE [by and large] are the best M cars. Always were...and by the looks of things with the direction BMW is going, still will be for some time to come.

It's hard to justify the M2 over the M240i honestly. Especially considering they are literally as quick as each other (watch Joe Achilles comparison)

Yes it’s cheaper but it’s not a market designated purely by price. For me I cross shopped the m2 with a 911. The m4 isn’t on the radar for me.

The door pulls he mentions on the GTS to are just straps release the door latch, not the standard grab handles that shut them.

The M2 all day. It's only a few grand more than the M235i, unlike the 340i and M3, which are almost 20k apart.
I heard the m2 is all around noisier. I like engine noise but I can do without tire and wind noise. Supposedly, the m235i is better in this regard.

M4 gts has a lot of issues. From the discolored carbon to the car not wanting to go into reverse, accelerating after letting off the gas pedal.
