I'm a purist. Have a 2015 ZL1 in Velvet Blue Metallic. No electric not ever... just keep building V8s and boosting the HP and Torque. And stick with the Tremec transmissions. Thrilling to drive.
I would take a V8 Hybrid Camaro for a 7th Gen and it will share the garage next to my 6th Gen Camaro. If they don't have a V8 then I have my 6th Gen. Not interested in a Full EV.
Great content , always good to hear what is going on with the Camaro , are you still doing Camaro and coffee events , would be good to see some Camaro events.....
But how would that work exactly? The e-ray is an AWD Vette that takes advantage of the battery powered motor to run the front wheels for an incredible launching capability. However, unlike the new C8 (which is mid engine now), the Camaro has always been front engine RWD orientation. Would it be something similar to what Ram did with the e-torque system and put the electric power through the current powertrain to help "assist" the rear wheels? Who knows, it's all pretty hush hush right now.
@@anthonyleathermantonetone4929 Just as long as they don't build something like Ford did in the new Mustang SUV EV. Something soooo hideous that it would take a Ford fanboy to want to purchase. That would completely flop on it's head if they did the same to a Camaro. Better to kill it at that point and bring back the SS 4 door as an electric hybrid methinks.
My 2023 V6 RS got a check engine light ( check EGR ) flashed on the DIC ........... 3800 miles / 9 months old seems to be in some kind of limp mode , sounds odd / less power . Any comment's WTF ??
I’m so happy as I took delivery of my 2024 2SS convertible this past Friday and I am loving it! I placed the order back in June as my dealer had some allocations and it went through pretty quick. Just glad I got it ahead of any looming strike!

At the Corvette Bash GM Tadge, made the announcement that they have worked with the organization that was banning all EVs, including the E-Ray, at events are not going to be banning them.
I think a brand new Chevrolet Camaro with Gas and Hybrid V8 engine powertrain with rear wheel drive platform and Option all wheel drive Layout would be awesome And give you the best of both worlds , but with more interior room, head room, leg room, hip room and bigger trunk space, Plus keep the weight of the car down , and offer a bare bones model too for a late 7th generation, plus still 6 speed manual transmission and 10 Auto transmission, that would fix all of the Shortcomings that, 6th Generation Camaro has right now !!! Plus Chevrolet marketing department has to do a better job on marketing the car as well ,because Camaro car Deserves to be saved Because it's a very iconic car, just like the Chevrolet Corvette is 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏🙏
I REALLY hope we get a hybrid. We added a Prius to the collection years ago and I’ve dreamed ever since about a cammed out Camaro making 600+ horsepower with electric assist to get that instant torque and be able to drive it across the country and still get like 40+mpg. Yes please. Full electric… meh… electric assist… 🔥
An E-Ray style Camaro would be incredible, honestly. A V8 with hybrid assistance for instant power is the best of both worlds, as long as it isn’t extremely heavy. I wouldn’t want batteries to significantly increase the weight, but technology advances rapidly, so we’ll see… If it turns out one day to be true. EDIT: And I can definitely now see the ZL1 1LE potentially either holding its value, or perhaps even appreciating some what in the future, especially manual examples. It’ll likely be the last of its kind in many ways.
To answer your question. No a hybrid Camaro should not be a thing in my opinion for two reasons... #1. It's sort of a slap in the face to all Camaro and muscle car lovers #2. That would be a stepping stone to a full EV Camaro. Which would just be a sad. Personally. If car companies are going down the full EV path. I'd say make new name plates and don't destroy the heritage of brands.
For your #2, I disagree. I feel it will be 6th Gen to a 7th Gen full EV crossover if they don’t try a hybrid first. ICE>Hybrid>EV is better than ICE>EV
@Gardian_915 that would be just as bad. I work for GM and the longer I do the more I'm convinced the CEO doesn't actually like cars or care about the GM fans. Ford was smart when their CEO said that if people wanted an EV mustang that they can buy the Mach E because the car will never be EV. Manufacturers need to start standing up and saying "no" to EV's. It's a scam. They are worse on the environment and the vast majority don't want them
thanks. i really don't get why they are having trouble filling orders on a car that's selling so poorly. As for a Hybrid, idk. at this point i'm not against that stuff but they havn't proven to me the practicality or the cost or range, and i'm not happy with the price of gas either so there is no good option lately.
I will not buy a hybrid I had to use one while my car was in the shop. Stopped working because of battery issues twice. V8 vroom vroom or I'll continue on with my 1st gen pro touring build
I ordered a 2024 2ss from my dealers6in Hamilton Ontario Canada and it got picked up by gmail. The dealership said mine got picked up specifically because it was a manual transmission. Expect it sometime in the spring 2024
I just turned down an allocation to order a 2024 2SS CE from a dealership in Florida, I live in North Carolina and I have a order in for the last two months still stuck in the same place. The dealership in Florida wanted $15,000 over MSRP with 10% down of course I told them thanks but no thanks.
Been saying this for a while…hybrid is the most feasible future for everyone. We still get our gas powered engines with the assistance of a battery. I can get on board with that. The EV push is annoying at minimum and near sighted. Quite simply, it doesn’t make sense. But please, for the love of God, put the Camaro on the platform with more interior space. The 6th gen is sooo tight inside.
I’ve been saying it all along. GM have never fully stated in a news release that the Camaro is 100 percent dead. I think they needed more time on a new 7th Gen HB. Just my opinion
Their is a 7th generation Camaro because they never said they were going to discontinue the car only the generation these article companies trying to get money off the name
They have designs for 7th Gen and a 8th gen. But they are shelved. GM is on record saying as much. I doubt we will see a pure gas power V8 Camaro again,
Hey Matt, thanks for the update! I think the "hybrid" option MAY appease some, however, i am going to say that GM needs to get their act together and bring something out to compete with the 7 gen mustang and stop this nonsense of sitting on the fence to appease both ....camaro owners expect better. Like the people you and I both know, nobody wants a hybrid.- Mark
Hybrid is about as far as I can go towards the EV world... not a plug in hybrid though. 550whp or more if it is eRay style... ... ... but I can't mentally get behind a fully electric Camaro. Performance or not... no EV screams "tough" or has a presence like a modified V8.
I personally wouldn't mind a hybrid 7th gen Camaro, V8 + Electric motors. I just don't want to see the Camaro nameplate used on a fully electric sedan or something of that nature, just for the sake of keeping the name around...
I would definitely be interested in a Camaro E-28 or something. 455 horsepower v8, and maybe like a 125 electric assist on the front wheels or whatever? Sign me up for that, especially if my ZL1 order doesn’t get accepted lol.
After 2 years of trying to get a 1ss 1le, I finally got an allocation. But, I cant get the 1le package, cant even get the black gas door cover. Cancelled my order.
I mean it's tough. There is a political push for EV's. But to be honest, what ever they do, I'm sure we will love it. I still enjoy mine very much so. From the chassis, exhaust burbles/cracks, power, comfort, and what all non-camaro owners won't ever believe: great fuel economy, 30 mpg in a 460hp NA V8, lol.
It's going to he electric, based on a variant of the BEV3 platform.. Think of a dystopian Neo-Futuristic twist on a cross between a C8 RS7/Urus crossed with the most recent ZL1.. Also sporting a semi-fastback sedan body. (Inside/designer connection in person view/details of the Camaro design study/process along with some technical bits)
I ordered a ZLE in 2021 and my dealer about 2 months ago called and said they won’t be getting any and also no Rapid Blue color as an option. I’ll be looking for a 2015-2016 Manual Challenger Hellcat now, almost 3 years of waiting and no Camaro , shame on you Chevy
I mean, you could blame Chevy to appoint, but it was actually your dealers fault for not having any allocation for the car. You could’ve gone to any dealership and found one that had an allocation and place your order they weren’t difficult to get back in 2021.
Anyone that actually has been following these cars knows there will be no 24 Zl1 1LE's. Its not rumor its been a solid fact for months now. Maybe some left over 23's that became 24's but there is no 24 orders being accepted and none will be.
Gas with electric assist could be insane! Maybe even make the backseat slightly bigger so I can convince my wife that it makes a great second car for the kids 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
The hybrid is simply the future of automobiles. I would prefer to see some kind of prototype first before I say yes or no to it. More than anything, I think the price tag and availability killed the Camaro. To get an SS, it is over $50k. I don't mean to crap on someone's car who bought the 4, 6 or LT1. No disrespect intended, but most Camaro enthusiasts see the SS and ZL1 as the preferred models. Chevy knew the $50k+ models wouldn't sell very many, so they didn't make very many. It was hard to find one at your local dealerships that were spec'd correctly (basically without the thousands of dollars of dealer addons that no one wanted) or one at all to even test drive and at a price that most people could afford. Most people don't want to have to order a car as a way to see it person. It never really had much of a chance to succeed. Chevy sells trucks and SUVs. Cars are an afterthought. I am just glad we were able to get our SS before the crap hit the fan.
GM in the collectors edition announcement announced the Camaro was taking a hiatus, not being discontinued. They really only announced the end of the sixth generation.
I hope one of my 2024 2SS, Riptide Blue cars is accepted and built by January :/ I want to upgrade. One of my dealerships got allocation but Riptide Blue was on engineering constraint 🙄 An E-Ray style Camaro would be sick. Anything too keep the V8 alive.
In all honesty, I don’t care what gm does with the Camaro. I have my 23 zl1 and don’t plan on getting rid of it for some years, probably pass it down to my son when he shows me he’s responsible enough
I had an order # for a ZL1 1LE but it wasn't accepted by Chevrolet due to the constraint on the 1LE package. Not sure how your update on the latest news plays into that?
I think the dealer was bumping up the MSRP $6,995 a couple months ago when I submitted my build. Latest bump is $10K for a 2024 ZL1 if they get any allocations
Last week I got lucky to put in a allocation for a regular 2024 ZL1 and a deposit of $1000 was required but I was disappointed that the 1LE package wasn’t available because it was my go to package.
When I placed my order through my local dealership ( '24 ZL1) it came up about 5k less than when I build it now with the online builder. 77k for a non-1LE is absolutely nuts. There is absolutely ZERO change from a '23.
@@Lethalgarage damn, I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to add the wing dealer level. You can still add the 1le package if you pick the wheels as an option l.
been saying this forever, as a huge fan of circuit racing specifically f1, i love track builds and the advancement of technology but i’ll always be a muscle car guy and i’ve been vouching for a hybrid to help push EV battery tech will keeping the v8, at this point they’ve already done the e-ray and the camaro would take up its own space in the muscle car market with the mustang being ICE and the Charger/Challengers being EV
If gm does this wit the camaro this would be the sickest thing ever it will be crazy in performance I’m just glad to hear there are rumbles of something like this happening I am a huge fan of the eray and if they did this with the camaro it would be very very cool I think people would come around to like it I just need the motor side to come from factory pushing about 500-520 🤣
EROC-Z or IROC-E... I'm trademarking it brb. 3rd gen retro with T-Tops, V8 + Hybrid assist. But they need to keep it mild, keep the costs down. Things are crazy expensive now. Keep the alpha chassis possibly, as it's so good. Just lighten it to make up for the emotor and battery. Make it 1LE like handling. $50k. Next Supra will likely be this way too, I6+hybrid assist.
i have a 2020 SS 1LE. This hybrid thing must be able to smoke my SS doors off in order for me to even consider it. Can't wait for it to come out though
hey matt, definitely tuning in for the ZL1 1LE news. i had my order for one placed since 1/14/22, but 20 months in still was not receiving an allocation, so jumped on a new '23 ZL1 M6 that suddenly became available at a local dealership in CA. so at least i'm covered while i wait to see if my allocation ever picks up. if it does, i'll trade in my ZL1 for the ZLE. if not, then i can rest easy knowing it wasn't in the cards for me, but i'm not out in the cold without any car to speak of.
Idc how fast it would be if it’s not a v8 scrap the whole thing. And Chevy is not making a v8 hybrid Camaro, at that point you’re prolly gonna have something faster than a c8 and Chevy is not going to allow the Camaro to out preform the vette
Hate to say it but I would definitely be interested in it if it was like the e- ray I have a 2023 Camaro ss though but I would still look into one if they came out
Initially, my reaction to a 7th gen hybrid Camaro rumor, is it's very unlikely. But, if i play along as I wait to buy a Dark Horse to replace my 6th gen in a few years.... LOL there are some reasons to think it might happen: 1. The alpha II platform continues in the ct4, ct5 Cadillacs. They are getting refreshes in 2025. So, the 'raw materials' for a 7th gen Camaro are there. 2. The E-Ray hybrid powertrain exists. 3. 7th Gen Mustang reported to eventually have hybrid powertrains, and GM doesn't want Ford have the market to themselves. 4. Fewer ethusiasts are looking forward to EV's as a replacement for their ICE ethusiasts cars. Having hybrid Camaro with the E-Ray power train's 'steath mode' would expose drivers to ~5mi of pure electric driving, perhaps winning over some to a other GM EV's.
@marcojordan7175 yeah coming out soon. It's going to be a fast SUV. I was just saying if people want to feel how quick an EV is the Blazer is a good one to test to see how the Camaro will be once its full EV.
Instant torque can be very addicting! If GM can keep the weight of the electric assist reasonable, mate it with a NA V8, with AWD, this Chicago driver of a 2018 ZL1 would be interested.
I really am interested in the ERay. More so than the Z06. The mid engine drive train with the front electric motors make it more appealing to me though, compared to a RWD hybrid Camaro. If they made the Camaro AWD as well that would be something but I don’t think GM would spend the money on it. If the Corvette does end up being it’s own brand I think the model line up will change extensively. Politics my play a role and they wait to see what regulations they have to deal with after 2024.
You’ve got a good method of talking about info, like your videos, but that background music makes it hard to finish a video. Question, is it shown statistically to improve view counts and followers to have that? Or more just your personal taste?
I honestly thought I had it so low it wasn't an issue. It's something most people do on talking head videos to fill the voids. Maybe next video I'll ditch it.
Hi, Matt. I hope I don't waste your time, but is Chevy still making an SS 1LE? Or is the 1LE package completely gone across all Camaro platforms? Lastly, is there a difference, besides the supercharged V-8, between a ZL1-1LE and an SS 1LE? Thanks in advance if you get a chance to read this and answer.

Anyone that actually has been following these cars knows there will be no 24 Zl1 1LE's. Its not rumor its been a solid fact for months now. Maybe some left over 23's that became 24's but there is no 24 orders being accepted and none will be.
Bring back T tops. ..
LOL
Why do they even say they are discontinuing the camaro at that point
GM in the collectors edition announcement announced the Camaro was taking a hiatus, not being discontinued. They really only announced the end of the sixth generation.
I hope one of my 2024 2SS, Riptide Blue cars is accepted and built by January :/ I want to upgrade.
One of my dealerships got allocation but Riptide Blue was on engineering constraint 🙄
An E-Ray style Camaro would be sick. Anything too keep the V8 alive.
Have you gotten any good news?
@@Sloimer not yet :/
In all honesty, I don’t care what gm does with the Camaro. I have my 23 zl1 and don’t plan on getting rid of it for some years, probably pass it down to my son when he shows me he’s responsible enough
I had an order # for a ZL1 1LE but it wasn't accepted by Chevrolet due to the constraint on the 1LE package. Not sure how your update on the latest news plays into that?
I think the dealer was bumping up the MSRP $6,995 a couple months ago when I submitted my build. Latest bump is $10K for a 2024 ZL1 if they get any allocations
if a strike happens it might finish off a 6th gen. i wouldnt rule out a hybrid camaro but it doesnt excite me.
Last week I got lucky to put in a allocation for a regular 2024 ZL1 and a deposit of $1000 was required but I was disappointed that the 1LE package wasn’t available because it was my go to package.
Ya I did that in June of 22 . Supposedly it will get here 9/25 maybe ? I have had vin for 2 months .
When I placed my order through my local dealership ( '24 ZL1) it came up about 5k less than when I build it now with the online builder. 77k for a non-1LE is absolutely nuts. There is absolutely ZERO change from a '23.
I’m kind of confused about the wing. GM won’t let you option it. Are you saying you have to option it at dealer level?
It was working the other day, it seems to only be tied tot he CE now.
Picked up by GM
V-8 bigger than the rest the better !+!!!!
i have a 2020 SS 1LE.
Lower the CEOs wages and keep the Camaro
No body is worth what they pay her she is the reason why a lot of us cant afford a used Camaro
LOL there are some reasons to think it might happen:
Their coming out with a Blazer SS EV that would be a good vehicle to test to see if people like a standalone EV.
Luket they already have a blazer SS EV 557hp
@marcojordan7175 yeah coming out soon. It's going to be a fast SUV. I was just saying if people want to feel how quick an EV is the Blazer is a good one to test to see how the Camaro will be once its full EV.
I really don’t mind an EV Camaro IF they would offer it as a drivetrain option. Heck they could even spell the EV version “CamEro” 😂
Ev camaro
Instant torque can be very addicting! If GM can keep the weight of the electric assist reasonable, mate it with a NA V8, with AWD, this Chicago driver of a 2018 ZL1 would be interested.
Looks like the electric buick
If it was all wheel drive I would consider that
If anyone is in this group on the east coast I know where you can get a 2SS Collectors Edition
Ban EV'S
You’ve got a good method of talking about info, like your videos, but that background music makes it hard to finish a video. Question, is it shown statistically to improve view counts and followers to have that? Or more just your personal taste?
I honestly thought I had it so low it wasn't an issue. It's something most people do on talking head videos to fill the voids. Maybe next video I'll ditch it.
So is it true that the z28 will be the last of the Camaro heard 5.5twinturbo
Unfortunately, it's not looking like it.
@@Lethalgarage that sucks
The SS 1LE is still on the table as far as I can tell. Sounds like limited constraints currently, but the ZL1 1LE will most likely not return.
@@Lethalgarage , thanks Matt!
