Torso S4 and Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field

- I've been waiting to get my hands on the Torso S4 for almost a year!
This is only one track of 4 and it's enough to understand how many sound design possibilities are concentrated in this super portable instrument.
This is the workflow:
- I sampled a fairly simple sound from the OP-1 into the machine called Tape.
_ I then used the same machine in Poly mode, looping a portion of the sound in ping pong mode (continuously back and forth).
_ the OP-1 is basically used in the video as a midi keyboard (connected via USB-C) with which I play the sample recorded on the S4.
_ the sound exploration takes place by tweaking the wet/dry parameter of Mosaic (the granular engine) and then adding the noise of the Color (destructive effects engine).
_ On this, three different modulators on the 48-band tuned filter bank resonator.
_ To close, an action on the general DJ Style LP/HP Filter of the track.
Again, this is only one track of 4!
Dude's got like $4000 worth of devices on the table. Love it!
This is really nice. The S4 looks so powerful.
🙏🏻
I'm the May batch. Can't wait@!
I'm really curious about these S4s...........great to hear what you're pulling from yours...............looks like a great piece of gear - so much to be made from so little input...................
Wow that Torso S-4 seems great..!
Lovely. Thanks for sharing
♥️
beautiful wow
Would love more examples like this. Polysample mode is the main reason I'm interested in the S4.
Could you maybe make a video where you also show the recording of the sample and then transition to playing (maybe with the sequencer).
Thanks for the video:)
Might go live on Instagram next week to freely talk and play with it to show some features. Will probably do the same here on YT :)
@@luca_longobardi_ subscribed to follow along. Have a good day!

Love it!…loks like you like it ..)..its deeeep!..how intuitive it is?…do you use T1?..or any other sequencers?..do you like sequencers, in general?..)
Super intuitive and yes, I do have and use the T1 and I think it is the most creative sequencer I own :)
@@luca_longobardi_thanks for an answer !. But i couldn’t resist to ask again..)…do you have Oxi one?- if yes- its possible to compare it..?..easiness , playability and learning curve..- i dont play techno ..only dreamy melodic embient..but live..)…i wanted to use it as alive ritmic background for my Osmose… i really like you style..simple and nostalgic…piano and RevC for example…that minimalistic approach is bring cb Rc to me- and i am enjoying it- thank you!..
@andropolonsky don’t have the Oxi One but heard magic things about it. And thank you for your kind words ♥️
can the s4 also play "normal" audio loops and timestreched?
Yes, it can! Just use the first machine (Tape) without adding the other four
Nowadays, atmospheric music has a much more realistic effect on the mental state of the population than rock music did in the 80s.
This could be totally true!
@@luca_longobardi_ I have been thinking about the future of music and I have come to the conclusion that atmospheric music will be the music that people will still be listening to in 100 to 1000 years. Any other kind of music, whether it's house music or punk rock or jazz, depends more on the genre and personal taste in music than atmospheric experimental electronic music. Add to that the fact that atmospheric experimental electronic music can also be used for brainwave synchronization and that is why it will be the future of music anyway. I clearly differentiate this from chillout music or ambient music or drone. Even today, atmospheric music is also used in psychological and medical areas to help people. It can even help other animals because it calms cats and dogs, and it can also rewire people's brains. However, the quality of music will change in the future and it will have a lot to do with the uniformity of volume. There will no longer be any major differences within the spectrum and everything will sound more and more linear so that it is better adapted to all devices and to the ears. This doesn't mean that people can't use bass or distorted tones, but it does mean that the general and universal tone will become more balanced over the next 50 to 100 years.
