*Starfleet to the Klingon Empire:* Yeah, we just so happened to already be building some transport/construction ships.
Really fortunate that.
KA shows the Empire knew of the ships existence, so I doubt they cared that it was repurposed. Like how many times was the basic K'Tang'a repurposed into even cargo ships.
LOL
I use to play that game for hours 👍🏾
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics can you perhaps please make a video about the Heavy Battleship Bismarck-Class ❤
To be fair, the Klingons probably blew up their money making weapons, so they can't really complain... Probably respected that Starfleet had some fight in them after all
“The Excelsior aren’t powerful enough and we need years to design a new one? What do we do!”
“Put two Excelsior together”
Lol
Back in the early 1980s, there was a company called FASA that had the license to make the Star Trek table-top RPG/wargame, and if I remember correctly, there was at least 1 ship miniature that looked kind of like this and had the stats for a battleship.
The Yamato Battleship is a beast in Klingon Academy. It’s 2 Assault Phasers can do massive damage on heavy battlecruisers, and higher types. On cruisers and smaller types, it can be a one shot kill.
I see my request to see this class get a video made from you. Think your so much, I really enjoyed your story on this class.
You request, and about 4 million others :P And no problem, Im glad I could make it :)
. I would have loved to see 4mil play Star Trek Starfleet Command back in the day for sure.
He’s the best!
What?! TWO WAVE MOTION GUNS?! Sweet!
What?
Okay.
I'll just see myself out. Hehe.
LOL
I believe those would be "Yamato cannons" ...oh wait, this isn't Starcraft...
A ship designed to take lives, built as a ship to save lives. That is just so Star Trek.
Thank you, I try 😉
You did it! Thank you. I loved this weird design back in 2000 when in appeared for the first time in KA.
I also love KA because its story fixed the plot of ST6 how the the lost of one moon could cripple an Empire as powerful as the Klingon Empire of late 23rd Century. Because of the actions of Klingon Civil War...well both of them started by the House of G'Iogh and that Fek'lhr dropping that was Melkor the Usurper. Who in act of spite out of Klingon mythology destroyed the Empire chief energy and resource mining/production system Tal'lhnor Gates. That was after his plot to give to the Romulans in exchange for their help in overthrowing the Empire and installing him as Emperor. Yet the Romulans even after the destruction of the Gates invaded the Qo'noS system in a bid to support Melkor final attempt to capture the throne. Beginning the centuries of Blood Feud between the two races.
You're very welcome @AceParty! :)
I want to see more big ships like this from star trek
Still lots of time ;)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics I would love to see some of the ships being made... Do you record your self when you work with the kits?
Words cannot express my excitement at seeing this class. There was a chat room RPG on AOL back in the early 2000's and I was a marine Colonel in command of a Yamato class.
Just remembered, being a Marine combat vessel of the Yamato class, we named it the USS Iwo Jima.
Well Im glad I could put a smile on your face :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics i turned on UA-cam to find something for the kids to watch and when I saw the Yamato class video I made several primitive primate noises that indicated excitement to my children. They were confused as they are very small and do not yet share my knowledge of the Trek-verse, but I was instantly brought back to my teen years, playing a Klingon Human Hybrid, serving as a Colonel in the SFMC. The Iwo had been restructured with boarding pods and hover tanks cause we had no idea what a Hopper was at the time, and phaser turret equipped LAV-25 style hover tanks with a 4 man fire team in each seemed to make the most sense to us at the time, lol
Great 3 D Model!
I remember the class from Klingon Academy, really fits the idea of what a warship constructred by starfleet would look like.
Thank you!
Awesome story and kit-bash. Love it!
Thanks 👍
Thank you! This is my favorite ship design in Star Trek.
You're welcome!
Loved the Starfleet Command games when I was growing up
I loved them as well!
Incredible. Thank you for doing a video on this, Klingon Academy's greatest Federation starship.
The Yamato has been a fave of mine for years; and I've even pondered trying to kitbash a few ship models to try to make a decent one.
Awesome video and cool design.
I bet the reason why Starfleet found the Orgainian homeworld deserted and no one came when they asked for their help because THEY knew the two powers would put asaide their differences and be friends and allies.
I think the only time the Orgainians would have intervened if they were to the point of annihilating each other.
Yes, I think the Organians knew this was a turning point for both Galactic powers!
one of my favorite ship. Been wanting to get ahold of a 3d model for this to print it out.
Amazing video! Great job on the model and thanks for bringing that ship back from the dead!
Thank you, and any time :)
Like...a zombie? 😏
Finally someone reviews a ship from Klingon Academy. There are so wonderful design in that game from all the different races
The problem has always been finding usable 3d Models!
"We need a new ship design."
"Why don't we kitbash some ships we already have?"
"You're promoted!"
Damn great job!! Great story and most impressive kit bashing! SOOOOOOOOOOO NERD APPROVED!!!!
Dude....thank you SOOO much for finally making this video. Heh, i know i was probably one of the louder voices for this class. It was my favorite class from Starfleet Command. And youre also the first one to really do this ship justice. Youre the best.
You're very welcome! And of course, thank you SO much 🙂
Fantastic model, great piece of work dude...
The Lexington-Class Command Cruiser from KA was also a pretty cool design. It was kinda like a Sovereign-class and Ambassador-class rolled into one. Think and Ambassador-class that's been stretched length-wise, and squashed vertically. If I remember correctly, the neck pieces between the saucer and secondary hulls were split and had a V-shape. The nacelles were like a Constitution-refit, but more tapered and had blue internal areas (I think). The saucer was like a slick Excelsior saucer.
My favorite from Starfleet Command. It makes me happy to see this ship-class again.
Something you said in the video got me thinking, and along with the long tradition of kit bashing new ships from old parts, both by fan and studio. Starfleet as you mentioned, normally does not have Warships. However, ships like Yamato-class gets built for components and systems from other ship classes. And that the engineers keep designing and designing. Its almost like they design the ultimate weapon but produce it in sections and then use those designs for ships that would get approved. Then if a war does break out. those readymade ship components an be assembled into the Warship they were designing all along.
For lack of a better term. Starfleet is a LEGO fleet. Systems from different classes, types and sometimes eras remain compatible with each other. What would a good term for that be?
If that's true, that would be a canon reason kit bashes happen, instead of slap something together for a background shot :o)
A good looking kitbash model and the story to follow will be your best yet.
Thank you so much!
Would love to see more of this class. Wish that Star Trek online would take this design and update it to a newer version.
You never know....
this looks like 10-year-old me had 2 Excelsior kits, 2 reliant kits, and a pretty good weekend watching the last starfighter.
Excellent work! Definitely want to see workups of the frigates and other unique vessels from Starfleet Command!! think I need to re-download it now
Love this class
Never heard or seen it
You did an amazing job
A twinhull design seems like such an obvious evolution, I'm surprised we've never seen it before. I think it could have made a mean Enterprise.
Well I don't know if I'd go as far as making it an Enterprise... But it IS a fun design :)
Stuff like this needs to be in Star Trek online. Also, here is a ship with parts from Miranda, Connie, and Excelsior😂
Sadly, licenses for using other designs are expensive, and in the case of defunct company designs, complicated 🥲 But yes, I wish it was in STO too!
That is a cool looking ship nice back story.❤
Glad you like it! And thank you! :)
Thank you for being amazing
Awwww well thank you so much for the support :)
I have a version of this ship for star Trek Armada II. It has a Constitution refit style saucers section though with 4 phaser emitters at all 6 hard points on the saucer section and a different roll bar from the Miranda class.
I never played Starfleet Command but I would love to see more of these videos from the game Star Trek Legacy, including some from the various modpacks for the game.
Starfleet Command II was a banger of a game. Would've been interesting to see the beta canon races and ships make their way into a series, especially theYamato
I've always loved ship designs like this it reminds me of the bore 2021st century warships and everything A kind of always think they should have big ships like this like maybe three It could have true multi purpose rolls be a colonization ship building space station construction Even long and I mean long voyages like ark ships
been waiting for this video, thanks for making it
No problem! Hope you enjoy it :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics will you also be doing the uylesses class?
I love this design! I also enjoyed your narrative!
Well worth the wait! Thank You very much for your time and uncanny effort in building this Beautiful model She's quite a ship👍👍👍👍😊
My pleasure! And thanks for the support :)
They need to drop this baddie for STO!
Always loved playing those in Empires at War.
🎵 _"Uchuu Senkan Yamato!!"_ 🎵
As soon as I saw this design, my mind immediately went to a old, printed series of books.
Jackill's StarFleet Reference Guides 1-3. Does anyone here remember those?
Gather around childrens, before the Internet, ship blueprints/schematics were printed.
Really. I still have them. This design gave me a reason to pull them out again.
Conventions and mail-order were great places to get such things.
The books were collections of known designs, some inspired designs and, kitbashing.
Some of the kitbashing worked, most didn't.
The Yamato Class looks like it could have come out of those books.
Taking existing components and assembling them differently.
And somehow...this one works.
You did a good job on that man forget about the haters you're entitled to your opinion I like the Yamato I play the video game Star Trek Empires at at War volume two out of all the games that one is the best it's so realistic it is as if you right out there in space aboard
That's a pretty cool story behind that ship
I like how it has the Miranda class torpedo shooters
This ship was an absolute beast in Starfleet Command
This reminds me, I've never used Carrier-style ships in STO. I should rectify that at some point.
Now this lives up to the name yamato
Amazing story and love the juxtaposition that seems to be at the core of every truly classic Star Trek story. (No matter the era)
Thank you :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Absolutely!
Great video! Thank you for featuring this ship. Can you make a video about the Okinawa class from the same video game?
Whatever you do, don't ask Patrick what he thinks of the "Ground Beef" :P
That model is amazing. I wanna see it in STO.
whoo!! a new TriAngulum Video!!
*Nods* :)
Sweet, bloody Khaine! I remember this monstrosity!
I remember this design on seceral games and books. The old Fasa books for example.
It's possible that such starships may have been built around the time of the undiscovered country but we're moth balled after the first khitomer accords.
wow very great! video from the Yamato Class
Thank you Dom :)
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics No Problem
i remember this from klingon Academy
Interesting as I was playing KA the other evening, pitched two Yamatos and a Ulysses dreadnought vs a single Galaxy Class ship that somehow found itself in the 23rd century ... if it wasn't for firing those assault phasers at a safe distance ... the Galaxy class would have clapped all 3 of us ...
Would LOVE to see a tv series that featured this ship and this era . ....kind of the extreme opposite of Starfleet thinking in the next century . when bigger was not always better with game changing Defiant Class
getting nostalgic for Klingon Academy again
Seeing the Yamato Class makes me wonder: Are there other Classes with two secondary Hulls?
Star Trek Legacy's Proxima class.
I enjoy all the videos
Thank you!
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics ur so very welcome
Nice ship.
I think so too!
Never heard of this class before. Honestly, its so ugly, bonkers and OP i just have to love it lol.
I really like her. She grows on you.
Honestly I wish this ship was in Star Trek Online already I always used it in Starfleet Command in skirmish
Sadly, licenses for using other designs are expensive, and in the case of defunct company designs, complicated 🥲 But yes, I wish it was in STO too!
Two secondary hulls! So I guess that means it had two bowling alleys?
Hello!
Can i request a video on a starship class? It would be really nice to see a video like this on the (23rd century) hoover class because there are like none on it and your quality is second to none.
Thank you in advance if possible. :))
No worries, one is coming :)
I was really really hoping to see this ship on Star Trek Online. It was on of my favorite from "Star Trek: Legacy".
You're probably thinking the Proxima class, which does have a similar layout. The Yamato's originally from the Starfleet Command games and Klingon Academy.
Somewhere in the Galaga universe, they are trying to incorporate this design.
I’d like to see something on the Midway class carrier myself.
If she was supposed to be a carrier, she should've been named Shinano instead.
Was there a Musahsi in the class as well?
Still, it seems this fictional Yamato saw more action in gameplay than her real-life namesake.
Shout-outs and EyaySuust to Leiji Matsumoto (R.I.P. 2023). ✨☠️✨
Okay, to build this beast you would need 2x Excelsior, 2x Enterprise A, 2x Reliant and some scratch building... expensive and the scale could be a problem🤔
*squeee** He is doing Klingon Academy.
...
I mean...yes...very good.
*Nods and Bows* :P
There are only two ships in the space battleship Yamato class: the Yamato BBY-01 and the Ginga BBY-03.
Very Cool ship
Indeed :)
I'd love to see you do a video of this class but updated for Star Trek: Picard times.
Hmmmmmmm....
This ship is my kit-bash sleep paralysis demon.
I remember another Federation BB from SFC, is that one available for a video?
Not my favorite design of those game, but its a solid one.
Much prefer the Missouri class, which was the ingame predecessors to this class and was design to be a tank.
I'm surprised you didn't give any omaj to the Curry class.
Why would I? The Curry Class has Nothing to do with this class...
I'll take two please 😊
How much kit bashing as we going to use on this one?
Yes.
The concept of giant superships is against Starfleet doctrine.
They don't like putting all their eggs into a few baskets. A supership becomes the ultimate target of a task force.
Starfleets biggest capital ships are still large enough, but tend to be more nimble and aimed to take advantage of tactical opportunities and crew skill rather than be stand and slug it out behemoths.
Ideally what Starfleet should have done is build a counterpart to the _Klingon Bird of Prey_ that was designed to kill it, optimised to beat it in a one on one.
A bit faster (maybe by a fair amount) and more manoeuvrable, a bit more powerful and tougher, and "cheap enough" to be built quickly in large numbers and with a minimal crew requirement.
Not superships, just taking the BOP concept, increasing the size _slightly,_ and improving it with Starfleet ingenuity and technical innovations.
This time predates the Treaty of Algeron by decades, so Starfleet could have also equipped them with Cloaks, .... as well as retrofitted existing ships.
They'd already "aquired" a few Cloaks by then.
With the Federations superior resources and manufacturing capability, they could have outbuilt the Empire soon enough.
These Federation _Attack Ships_ could have been attached to existing Capital ships to act as screening forces, and sent out as Wolf packs to take out Klingon BOP's by having superior local numbers in hit and run raids and ambushes, and acted as interceptors to prevent the same.
This would have been a far more effective strategy if there had been an actual war of attrition - say if Praxis didn't fortuitously happen to "accidentally" blow up.....
Excelsior class on steroids 😂
as usual great video! as for the ship ... dear god must have been designed in the short period when replicator tech was new and one could just replicate lines of cocain xD almost can hear the designers shout 'mooooore poooower'
LOL, thank you LOL
I should hate this ship, but I don't.
😊👊💪🖖👍🍻
When are you going to do a video review on the columbia and avenger class those two are my favourite..
I would like to see Yamato in STO
Would lend itself well to a command dreadnought flight deck carrier. 5/3 or at least 4/2 with dual cannons and tough shields.
Federation should always have had mostly battleships.
If GTFOH was a starship.
Classic kitbash design
its such an amazing looking ship great job
Thank you very much!
Star Trek Online should make this ship.
