Yes! This is what we needed. A young, very angry Dave Mustaine.
*coked up. Fixed.
In that album , his " shot " voice add something... like suffering atmosphere .
That record still quite unique and IN YOUR FACE .
@@Nissardpertugiu Yeah, that album was awesome imo, I don't know why some people hate on it.
you prolly dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last couple of months xD
@Damari Moshe yea, I've been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
One of my favorite songs from Megadeth 's most underrated album.
I know, right! Man I fuckin LOVE this album. Still jam it all the time. Great workout album. Such energy. Front to back classic. EVERY SONG. The worst song on it is a Sex Pistols cover. Haha! Man..Reminds me of my skating days. Back when it came out. Haha!! Those were the days. 😆🤘Their first album is also a classic. Each of their first 5 albums each give you a completely different feeling when you listen to it. I like Youthanasia and Kryptic Writings too. But I think their first 5 albums were their best. Of course, I play guitar, so I really love this shit. Hahahaa
Totally agree, for me this album is easily a top 3 and definitely better than Countdown
sfsgsw is my favorite album by them lmao.
Dude, it really is. A lot of people seem to overlook this album, but it's absolutely amazing. Dave tends to brush off most of this album himself because it was smack in the middle of their peak drug use. But to me, it's just as 'unique' as Peace Sells. As great as RIP is, there's a groove that Peace and So Far had that is missing.
Being a teenage metal head in the 80’s when I saw the PMRC warning sticker on an album that was the album I was buying
there a quote out there from Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue saying it was the best thing that ever happened to metal
Great song, underrated album!
This song talks about the Parents Music Resource Council (the PMRC), an American advocacy group headed by Tipper Gore that tried to restrict the sale of certain music. Many musicians believed the PMRC was a threat to freedom of speech.
I did a research paper on the pmrc, and I got an A. I wrote it while I was in in-school suspension for a day. The witnesses for the defense were Frank Zappa, Dee Snider, and John Denver. They laid down their case, and the public agreed with them, but the politicians didn't. The comprise was to label certain music with parental warnings.
It's funny because it sorta backfired on them. When they started slapping the labels on the albums, album sales skyrocketed
At 5:25 mark, did *Vin* _not_ recognize the *PMRC* at all? Inconceivable! Every metetal fan knows they were _The_ Enemy of Metal from 1985 onwards before eventually becoming defunct sometime over a decade later, the exact details of which nobody _seems_ to have cared to record down in history, ha-ha-ha-haa! If one did _not_ live the 1980s as a teen, everyone should at least have watched the excellent documentary *_Metal: A Headbanger's Journey_* (2005) by *Sam Dunn* et al. - in it, you have _all_ that you need to know in a compact package :)
And yet musicians still supported AL Gore for president.
Megadeth - Set The World Afire
Edit - The original version not the remastered version please. Very important. The remasters suck compared to the originals IMO.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head
I agree I also want them both to talk more about the music and not just the lyrics. Especially Sori.
I think the song you're thinking of is 'Into The Lungs Of Hell'(instrumental), the first song on the album. 'Set The World Afire' is the second song. But it would be cool if Vin and Sori listen to both songs consecutively because the first song serves as the intro to 'Set The World Afire'. I think 'Wake Up Dead' is another good one. Hopefully they listen to the original versions and not the remasters.
What sucks about them is they're remixed. I'm glad i kept my originals after getting all the remixes. I like the bonus tracks though.
@Deadliest Assasin The vocals aren't as good either.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head
Yeah, I like hearing the interpretations of the song lyrics but don't ignore the music. Dialectic Chaos is probably my favorite Megadeth instrumental. I think Vin would like Iron Maiden - Losfer' Words (Big Ora) from the Powerslave album.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head
Good idea. 👍
Great song, from an equally great album. There is nothing like Megadeth when they were the world's state of the art speed metal band, an absolute machine.
This album is great. It's almost a forgotten album as it's sometimes overlooked because it's in between the two classics, 'Peace Sells' and 'Rust in Peace' but it definitely stands up as a great Thrash album.
Some great tracks on it that might be worth a reaction in the future.
That album was totally awesome front to back and it was a big success but i think like you said because of P.S n R.I.P people don't talk about it but it's very raw and in your face specially back when it came out but i like everything from megadeth just a big fan✌🤘
The PMRC weren’t just going after metal. They went after Prince and Cyndi Lauper. It was just crazy.

Ah, the days of the 80’s PMRC clashes, fun times.
@@BlutoMindpretzel72 That's what older brothers or sisters were for. ;)
@WatchThinkFeel 010 Nah, most of the stuff on the radio these days is manufactured by the record industry rather that the 'artists'. The more some thing is suppressed the worse it becomes as an act of rebellion. Kind of like prohibition of alcohol, although not exactly.
My favorite SONG off this album.
I LOVE this SONG. Soooooo badass
Love the guitar work and guitar solo.
HOOK IN MOUTH.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I am surprised they haven't done this or Lucretia it's insane. (original)
never ever do a reaction vid to the remastered versions.....ever
@@john-wg2vm yep they sound very different
"M they will cover your grave with manure" one of the best lines ever lmao
I always took this song as Dave equating the PMRC to George Orwell's "1984"
SFSGSW favourite megadeth album hands down, i listened to that record so much
PMRC had one good result.. labeling the music as 'explicit lyrics.' As a teenager during that time, this made it easier for me to find music that was actually worth listening to. If the album did not have the label then it was not worth spending my limited money on. PMRC tried, and failed, to completely censor or make such lyrics illegal. Modern social media should be held to the same standard.
As an example.. UA-cam might censor speech because they deem it 'inappropriate' ... but a simple division of content that allows a user to 'filter' videos based upon flags set on the video would enable the video to be viewed by those who actually wish to view such content. Just remember that when someone else is in control of what can be said then your ability to hear what is said is limited to the lowest base available. Someone, somewhere, is going to advocate for anything else to be eliminated from the pool of available speech... and we all suffer for the loss of it.
LoL. Was thinking the same thing. How I discovered "Morbid Angel's" Altars album.
More than the PMRC and freedom of speech the song touches on rewriting history and governmental control of what is being taught in schools.
I think platforms (youtube, facebook, twitter) have become so ingrained in society and have become primary means of communications that they should be defined as traditional public forums and the 1st amendment should apply.
100%
Yay!!!! SO GLAD you guys reacted to this song. This whole album is AMAZING. Their best in my opinion. Other Megadeth Bangers: "Set the World On Fire," "502," "Liar," "Mary Jane," "Rattlehead," "I Love You To Death," "Killing is My Business, and Business is Good," "Skull Beneath the Skin," "Captive Honour," etc.
The first part - Cockroach in the concrete etc.
It's not the Elites.
He's referring to a mid-level Bureaucrat 'A Slouch with fallen Arches' - although a stereotype - think of a weedy, lazy person who has never been popular, never had any real power or authority, a yes man for the higher-ups, but placed in a position of some limited authority within the Government, now has total job security etc. and they are exercising that power to their fullest extent and without using their own judgement 'Procedures that he's programmed to' - this is the equivalent of the modern day 'Computer says no'. The allusion here is to a robot that takes an input, looks at a set of rules and gives an output, without ever questioning what is being done or understanding the consequences of the action.
Although this is an Attack primarily against the Washington Wives, this first part is talking specifically about the type of person that craves that ability and the reality of what would happen.
I remember the PMRC very well, the scourge of metal in the late 80's that were eventually defeated
you cannot deny that Megadeth tracks increase the amount of discourse in their songs. That's what makes them great
One of my favorites of Megadeth, thx for bringing this one
Excited for this one!! Great tune!!!!
The PMRC really got Mustaine's goat
Was just SO pissed at all those bureaucrats wasting people's time/money on such trivial crap.
Oh, Dee Snider is just a danger to society LOL
Good review guys.... and you raise a lot of great points. I really enjoy this song for the overall sound and feel....it's a thrash classic. The musicality of it is amazing.
You guys have been on a roll as of late. I like how I can get my mind off of the things going on with you 😊🤘
Check out when Dee Snider testified in Congress about the pmrc....
Awesome reaction 🤘🏻 great song not many reactions to this you guys are awesome
So happy you guys finally reviewed this song I'm nearly fifty years old and this has been my favourite Megadeth songs since I was 14yrs. I think it is one of the most socially important songs Dave ever wrote.
30:49 Actually Vin, there has been quite a bit of that going on. From school textbooks to editing older movies when they are released on streaming services to make them more sensitive to the dictates of current PC opinions etc. Look into it and you might be surprised at what you find.
A prime example of this is banning certain books from schools due to usage of certain words or phrases.. all the way to the tearing down of monuments to various military figures.. even to renaming of certain sports organizations. PC culture is the death of American history via a campaign of omission and retconning. We must keep ALL history intact.. even the stuff that paints us badly via current standards.. for without that very history we cannot learn to be better as a people and will be doomed to eventually make the same mistakes again.
@@uoabigaillevey Yep, 100% agree.
@@uoabigaillevey You mean the same way American History conveniently omits racist massacres that have been carried out throughout the yeara?
@@Supertaldo916 Yes. All of it needs to be known. The good.. the bad... and the ugly. No sugarcoating or hiding dirty little secrets. How can we hold ourselves as 'better' in the world if we do not recognize where we came from and the progress we have made. Erasing the past and replacing it with all kinds of daisies and flowers and butterflies and rainbows does nothing but make us look smug. We need to acknowledge our past mistakes and forge a better path forward so we can lead by example.
@@uoabigaillevey This. I completely agree.
Love this song, one of the songs that got me hooked on megadeth
The man too maniacal for Metallica
As in too great. Yes agreed
True, that’s why he got kicked out
PMRC was indeed Tipper Gore's little project to abolish metal music, though she claimed it was not to abolish anything, but "warn" parents by defacing all the album covers with "Parental Advisory" warning stickers of "explicit content"... but deep down Tipper wanted to purge all of it.
As I understand is, she was motivated to start the PMRC after hearing W.A.S.P.'s infamous "Animal" single, and heard that famous tagline "I FUCK LIKE A BEST!"... coming from her own daughter's room, no less.
Yes, that "obscene filth" had infiltrated her own home... so, (as Vince puts it), it was "Jihad" time, lol.
And so began her war on heavy metal music.
Ahhh, the good ole days...
Over 30 years old and more relevant than ever. Dave was a patriot even in the depths of his addictions. There are references to 1984 here. Socialism in any form will always be authoritarian.
Vin and Sori, this aged pretty well. Once the government starts controlling the *private" company, they've crossed the Rubicon
GORE'S LADY was the PMRC and Mustaine was on her hit-list
I haven't listened to this song in a long time so thanks for doing it. Not my favourite song off that album but still it's catchy enough. 'In My Darkest Hour' is on that album and that was the reason I got into Megadeth and the reason I bought the album 30 years ago or so.
interesting song. like spoken poetry with moments of heavy metal flow. got chills at one point.
This was my introduction to Megadeth from a thrash metal compilation on to Countdown from there, this one holds a special place.
Just to think of the motivation that Mustaine had to put these kinds of lyrics together in this way and to arrange this kind of music is impressive as he was in the throes of a heroin addiction.
In Birmingham we watched a "peaceful protest" turn into rioting and destruction of property even after the mayor of Birmingham promised to give the people what they wanted (the removal of a Confederate monument). But people rioted anyway when they couldn't tear it down themselves. And then proceeded to walk down the street smashing buildings and destroying property for BLM. Unfortunately one of the businesses they destroyed belonged to the first African American opthamologist in Alabama. It doesn't take much for a peaceful protest to turn violent or to have someone in that group secretly waiting for the right time to strike. And they attacked reporters who were just fiiming it too.
So glad to see this song get some attention.
lol love the faces you both make when it gets to "as long as there is a PMRC"
Dio- Give Her The Gun
This song is from the Strange Highways album. Very underrated album and shows the angrier side of Dio.
Vin / Sori- I have never loved this channel more than today.
When are you gonna do more SLAAAAAAAYYEEEEERRRR!!!!! ?
Wife and I loved your Silent Scream reaction.
Soon!
VinAnd Sori yaaaay!! The first video I ever watched of you guys was Watain Malfeitor. I thought about the priesthood in college, discerned it wasn’t what I was supposed to do, got married, had a kid, but am discerning becoming a diaconate.
Keep it up. Also, former cop (swat) and it’s sickening what happened to mr Floyd.
That Korn "arrrre you reeeeeady" intro has got to go.
Oh yes, it has to go!
There are a number of things that they do that needs to go.
it's so fucking loud
Oh, is that what it is? Never knew Korn did it. But, yeah, throw it out.
I would like the beginning of Iron Maiden - Hallowed by thy Name.
I enjoyed your reaction to this tune. The PMRC was a group of politicians wives who wanted to place warning stickers on records containing explicit content. This was before NWA. They were targeting mostly metal bands and some pop artists because rap music at that time wasn't quite at the forefront just yet. That of course changed just a few years later. You should check out the Senate committee hearings videos on regulating the music industry if you haven't yet. It's fascinating!
Great song.
Damn good
Hook In Mouth is some legit rage on Mustaine's part, lol, and its one of my faves.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!!!!!!!!
Why would she be a tipper gore supporter?
One of the most badass Megadeth songs.
YES
Finally!!!!!
It is there private company but they were protected from lawsuits because it was an open forum not their content but if they are going to censor, fact check and give their opinion they are creating content and should be held liable
First and favourite Megadeth album. IIRC, this was the very first album to be adorned with the "contains explicit lyrics" label. I think you now need to listen to "Liar" to understand why
In my Top 3 all time Megadeth songs
Finally!!! THE tone of the times, songs like this and anything RATM does, are STILL POTENT. THAT WAS AWESOME

Hey you another one I've been asking for you to review lol
Only Dave Mustaine can Pull off Stuff like that! You Know the Anger is Real! Man this Song is so Great. This Atmossphere that totally Agitates you. It makes you wanna Talk endlessly about certain Issues.😄 just like Vin Did! Everyone has the Urge to talk about Stuff like that , when you get
The Help to let Loose......and Dave Mustaine makes you think and Talk, Gives you the Feel of the Need to Put it out...and People are Thankful for it cause they Wanna Talk about it....Things you already thought about often on your Own!
It’s a Great Song. Music and Lyrics.
About time someone reacted to this song.
The problem is twitter and such are immune from being sued because they say they let everyone speak. But they don't so they should loose that protection.
Parental Advisory stickers were gold for bands. You saw that sticker, you want that album. Backfired big time on ol Tipper.
In my experience, when in a debate, the first person to compare the opposition to 'Hitler' loses. It's such a BS trope.
Vin, I agree with a lot of your arguments but really what do you want Trump to do? The local governments in these democrat controlled cities are sitting on their hands watching their cities burn. Serious question, what would YOU do? Can we just sit back and let the looters run unchecked forever? What is YOUR solution?
Youngsters had to look up what the PMRC is. Ha. Great choice. I remember running down to Sound Warehouse to buy this when it came out.
28:29 - "This is a situation that needed a scalpel...and he came with a hammer." Lol, great description of how DT operates!!!😂😂
28:40
The first part of the lyrics reminds me to the book 1984. The rewrite of the facts and history, and people.
You guys always do the good songs, love it, please try nuclear assault or sod, good stuff
You really need to hear my last words by megadeth. You will not be disappointed.
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" is the song Sori speaks of
The song was called "Devil went to Georgia" by the The Charlie Daniels Band It does kinda resembles in one portion in the Mega solo's.
YYYYYAAAAASSSSS!!!!!!! History Lesson Time Kids! This whole record is severally under rated!
You need to listen to Frank Zappa speaking on Capitol Hill for Tipper Gore's hearings on music. Great response to Tipper.
STEELHEART-Angel Eyes (I'll Never Let You Go) official video...and QueensRyche -Take Hold of the Flame (live tokyo 1984) both for amazing vocals
Song fit for today.
hahahaha u guys r young unz. had 2 look up PMRC hahaha

You should watch Dee Snyder speaking to Congress about PMRC and Tipper Gore, it’s so good
If you haven't seen this already, you might want to watch "Dee Snider's PMRC Senate Hearing Speech (Full)" at some point
To your point that compared Twitter and bookstores.....a bookstore still has its own discretion as a wholesale buyer on which authors and titles they will allow on their shelves. The amount of books that never made it to a Barnes & Noble shelf is certainly massive. Perhaps its more accurate if the bookstore placed the questionable book on the shelf but had printed inserts in each one that directed them to a fact-checking resource.
you should watch what dee snyder of twisted sister and frank zappa had to say during the hearings of the PMRC back in the day. the videos are on youtube.
Yeah he sounds so Angry and pissed... I love it
You guys need to hit up some more from their latest album, Dystopia. Poisonous Shadows and Fatal Illusion are my favs...
great song! Love that album...has a bit of a punk feel to it but still awesome!
Sori nailed a point that was brought up by the musicians who fought against the PMRC.
That the people doing the content judging were rating by their own, sometimes twisted, interpretations of lyrics. Tipper Gore thought a song, about surgery, had to do with bondage.
I highly, highly recommend watching the PMRC hearings on UA-cam, specifically Dee Snider's testimony, as he is a Christian who had his work misinterpreted. Congress wasn't ready for him to be an intelligent, well-mannered, and articulate Christian, they thought they were getting stereotypical headbangers.
Vin is absolutely right, natural selection.
Might want to update this one!
It comes down to whether or not social media wants to be a Platform or a Publisher. A Platform CANNOT censor or edit content, BUT CANNOT be sued or be held responsible for user content. A Publisher has complete editorial control, yet CAN be sued for libel, slander, etc. Currently, social media gets Publisher power AND Platform protection. They MUST be forced to pick one. Everyone else has to.
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Night Eternal
The PMRC and several other groups including religious groups wanted much more than a sticker. They wanted to make it illegal to even distribute music with explicit lyrics. Almost to the point of recording it. I remember this well. We all followed it closely on MTV. That was our music news outlet. And of course I saw that this tour! Sacramento, CA Arco Arena. I forget who they opened for, but it may have been Aerosmith or Van Halen.
Anathema- Internal Landscapes live in Universal Concert Bulgaria
Anathema- Untouchable live in Universal Concert Bulgaria or studio version.
Gotta fact check ya....lol. the PMRC and the Explicit Lyric compromise was in place well before N.W.A. It started with bands like Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P., Madonna, Judas Priest, Ozzy, etc. in the mid-80s.
Still waiting to see SOMEONE react to The Emperor. Trust me, you won't be disappointed
