im only 18 and id rather listen to this kind of music because it has emotion in it music and thats whats wrong with the music industry its just people wanting money for what I dont see as music
My mother went to Ireland and saw The Dubliners when I was in my teen years; I am 74 now. As luck or fate would have it, she purchased an album for me, "Live at Albert Hall." I could not understand anything they were singing. What difficult English! Then, I did not understand the meaning of the songs. I was determined to understand their words and music. There was no internet, just the library. I was hooked and have been ever since. The passing of the members was like losing a long-time friend, so sad. UA-cam is a fantastic place to bring back and see them perform.
Going back to the early/mid 60's there was also Bobby Lynch, sadly no longer with us, another great singer who seems to be more often than not the forgotten Dubliner. Thanks to all members of The Dubliners, past and present, you have given me years & years of pleasure R I P Barney, Luke, Ciaran & Ronnie
Was great to see Paddy Reilly pop up again (not looking any different)! Was a while (also he sang The Town I Loved So Well on a Luke Kelly memorial radio special the year after with John Sheahan)
RIP Barney. Enjoy the reunion with your old friends above. We'll never hear your likes again. Thanks Gaybo for getting this before Barney's departure. Providence works well.
@@paullinnane4396 I wil say all 11 members of the Dubliners IMO were and always be my heros and they are awesome and they can never be replaced not ever to me the Dubs including Bob Lynch are irrepelaceable and unique and no othe rIrish band will be IMO as unique as the DUbs
I absolutely adored the Dubliners. But miss Luke @ Ronnie. They are still amazing, life has still to go on .RIP THE TWO MEN IN HEAVEN NOW. REGARDS ELIZABETH ❤❤❤❤ SCOTLAND
This is just pure heaven. I have always loved the Dubliners stumbled across this by accident. What a find. Xx pure enjoyment of the very best of the Dubliners music xx
I could watch the dubliners daily decline orourke today he is still an amazing artist god rest you lovely gay o I loved him esp on late l show and daily on rte 1 radio bless him❤
I was lucky enough to meet the boys backstage after their 50 years anniversary concert in January 2012 in Christ Church Cathedral for a few short interviews. I partuclarly remember talking to Barney and joking about their plans for the 60 years anniversary and Barney very reflectively responded "We take it slow, we're at an age you don't know if you're still there the next year". It still gives me shivers considering what happened a few weeks later.
I'm so envious of the people who can name 1 favourite song by the Dubliners,I am condemned to play and replay multiple items which are each more dear to me than anything produced in the recent times.Go hiontach!
from barcelona...thanks & sláinte "brummydubliners"!!!no kelly no drew but still proudly &fully...DUBLINERS!!UP JOHN SHEAHAN & THE REST "OF THE CREW"!!!
I've often thought exactly the same thing my friend! But I still go and see them every time they come to my town or anywhere nearby. To hear today's Dubliners is better than no Dubliners at all!
Hi All, Very nice video and thank you Brummydubliner. Does anybody have the whole Sharon Shannon's video in For One Night Only last 24th december and can post it on youtube? Thanks a lot.
It's 'The Black Velvet Band'. It's a bit of a standard. There's a great version done by an Australian bush band called Cobbers, albeit back in the 1970's. I guess the references to Australia (Van Diemen's Land = Tasmania) got it onto their playlist. You can hear it at www.cobbersbushband.com/ and even download the album, track by track, by going through the Record Sales/All for Me Grog link. Some other great songs there too, a lot about shearing.

Actually, it was written by Dominic Behan for Brendan
I love all these lads but the Dubliners without Luke Kelly & Ronnie Drew are like The Beatles without Paul & John.
I've often thought exactly the same thing my friend! But I still go and see them every time they come to my town or anywhere nearby. To hear today's Dubliners is better than no Dubliners at all!
Agreed Paddy and Cheers from Canada.

Why is Eamonn Campbell sitting in the last few gigs? Has he some helaty problems?

at some point it's not very good for an older person to stand for that long ;-)
It's to bad Paddy isn't with them for this.
What's the first song called?
It's 'The Black Velvet Band'. It's a bit of a standard. There's a great version done by an Australian bush band called Cobbers, albeit back in the 1970's.
