As a stage 3 cancer survivor, watching your videos has motivated me to restore my 84’ mustang with 35,816 miles on it. Thanks for the videos and motivation! Let’s go!
You're gunna want to start with the RF HUB and write the correct VIN into that man, ive had to do practically the same thing youre trying to do with a scatpack that got stolen and brought to the dealership i work at, it is annoying and time consuming, you have to write each VIN into each module practically one by one
There was a recent video by the Car Wizard that touched on module issues with Dodge and complaints being filed with the department of transportation. As he explained that Dodge does not allow used modules to be reassigned to a new VIN and unfortunately, Dodge is having backorder issues on various modules.
David is 100percent on the right track. i’m a mopar mechanic and i find myself circling back with modules during updates and recalls all the time. There seems to always be a specific way to rewrite modules. and every mopar car is different it’s absurd
Bro you need me! 25 years in the computer game. That error looks like the command actually being sent has something wrong with the data. Too many chars , spaces , illegal chars etc. gotta see what the app is doing to build the command and what it sends to the ECu. May be able to hijack that and modify. The other issue I can think of is some of those modules aren’t writable, must be a flag or another setting that sets read only. Ping me.
Some modules are grounded through the module housings so for good measure I Would make sure you have a good ground for the modules unless they have a plastic body and be careful if you are doing any welding on the car. Make sure your twisted comm lines are away from any electrical “noise” and not touching ground so they can communicate properly with SGW module and the rest of the network and make sure the star connector is good if it has one and not burnt up.
Some car modules use modbus to communicate, modbus is great but has its issues, mainly if you change anything at all, unplug, plug back in etc you need to power down everything for it to reset the communications.
Lee … your uploads from both channels are rapidly becoming some of my favorite to see the notification icon over. Awesome builds; great attitudes and commentary from everyone. I can’t imagine how much it must suck to edit one of these but I’m thankful for it.
Dodge has a flash for every challenger and charger when the get the pdi done and it flashes a program on it that completely bricks every module if it gets stolen and prevents the modules getting programmed. One of the guys had to fix some at a dealer I worked for and had to replace everything that had the vin programmed into it. There should be info on what to do in the dealer connect software on it all.
My favorite channel. I often dive into car projects and these guys help me through the tough times. I think it’s the necessary patience required to complete a build. When things go wrong they don’t stress they just blame Fernando. lol keep up the good work. You will get that demon up and running I’m sure before I finish my 550i.
Love the color choice on this MOPAR, been watching all the builds since the start of the main channel. Keep up the great work! Porsche and MOPAR for the win!
@@crazyo388he’s only uploading the videos once tho? How would he be getting triple the ad revenue. It would be the same thing as if he only had one channel and uploaded every video there. He does this to show quick update videos on projects that would take much longer, this one being an example
I get what you are saying one account 3 vids 3 diff ads rev but take in you upload one video per account between scappedlifelee scrapedlifelee scaplifefernando leec and the others multiple vids in multiple accounts on the same day more ad rev
some of the "memory" in the car for like milage and clock are effected by letting the car die. could try updating the car with the 2020 and then disconnecting the battery because it thinks the 2018 is saved to it's on board and idk how to flip the key on off 5 times and push the start button twice resets that particular function.
I work at an independent shop with all the dealer level equipment. This is the type of stuff we specialize in.. the fixing of stuff no one else can handle.. this video gives me ptsd 😅
That trackhawk I want to see. But with all these modules and computers and comms is why I love my 65 ford truck. The only wiring hassle is the stereo system I put in.
i had a issue like that i have a bunch of the older srt8s and since i have a few i borrowed a pcm from one to another and well that vin over wrote over the orginal on a few modules important one being the BCM so when you see orginal and current there diffrent i assume this is so people cant swap the pcm to steal a car but once you have a mixed matched vin you have to get them all back align pcm and tipm bcm being the important ones
i remember something about a vin number problems with the 170s where vins were set wrong from the factory maybe your car is one of them. think the guy you raced with was involved with it. his racecar name was somethinng like soul stealer or some shit. call him he might help
Looooong shot. I wonder if swapping the vin had anything to do with starting it? I wonder if the vin decrypts the rolling code and then allows the car to start? So, they had a code to that vin but needed to swap that car to their vin?
Are there any D170 specific modules in this car? If not wouldn’t be easier to transplant an entirely matching harness out of a donor vehicle and program that? Also probably not the case but maybe vin swapped modules were bench programmed by directly accessing the soc/eeprom?
1:12 Steering rack control module. Why the F does a car need a control module for the steering rack? And what happens when the module for your steering glitches out? My dad always used to say, "That's just more shit that'll break" and more and more, I see his wisdom.
@@ScrappedLifeLee it does matter which star port you plug the bypass cable into, look up which port should be used for the year make model, some get plugged behind gauge cluster.
I’m wondering if it’s the engine ECU. Like the scrap monkey that was cutting it up , cut the car up while it had a battery connected to it with the ignition on listening to the radio.
I work with these dang cars everyday with witech and the system can be an absolute pain but you guys seem to be on the right track hopefully it starts soon
That’s what they’re doing. They’re flashing the cars to program them to steal them to work with the keys. Like you need a dealer technician with dealer software to rewrite all the modules
Try using an automatic tcm, did you program the tcm or use a spare. When writing a vin, it says out of parameter which could be Alfa obd saying this type of car doesn’t exist. Not sure just a thought
@ScrappedLifeLee Why this 2nd Lee channel? It took me a minute to realize that this was not your other channel. At first I tought you delete all the older videos. Would be less confusing for us if you put everything in one channel and all of your videos are in one place. I don't want to miss any new content. Your videos are fun.
Dodge is just a pain in the a$$ when it comes to electronics! I remember replacing the crank sensor on my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 with the 360 Magnum engine with a Dorman sensor. The truck either wanted to pull through the brakes at a stop or stall for 5 mins. I put my physically broken Mopar crank sensor back in and the truck has been running great for the last 4 years. 🤨

Always motivating until I look at my bank account then all of that motivation goes away
God bless sir . I've very happy you beat cancer . Thats the one word I hate more than anyother . Cancer has taken so much from me and my family

@ you’re telling me. I’ve been trying to
Not to worry, the thieves will reach out to you shortly and tell you how to fix the issues. Seriously
probably
or with the modules they took home miraculously before the cops got there for said extortion.
Was thinking the whole videos: how the hell did those guys flash the car so easy and they cant do it. What software do these guys use
Obviously something better than Mopar has@@Chris-hw4mq
They'd have it running before I grabbed my laptop off the charger

yea pcm and bcm and tipm they dont want to re write and some cant im surprised there are people buy thoes on ebay

yes a bunch of the models are write only from blank. and if you try and swap a pcm it will write that vin in this car causeing the issue they have
Watching all these electrical and VIN issues makes me love my 90s JDM so much more. Still a dope build!
yeah, working on new cars sometimes makes you feel more like a hackerman than a mechanic
Yea because 90’s JDM cars are immune to electrical issues. 🤣

I love the Demon and all that, but this is exactly why I wanna stick to pre-2000 cars. Manual everything, and simple. Nothing else. And cheap too.
Do you have a security gateway, bypass module?
So do you think the issue has to do with the speed cluster. It’s programmed to a certain vin #
there was a demon 170 that was flooded out with a non repairable a while back you could’ve seen if it worked. the water line wasn’t really high either
I see the supra back there.
You need a security bypass cable for everything after 2018

Try swapping all the wires an wire harnesses with the trackhawks or possibly the 2018 demon..

Well….
JK, I enjoy the content. Keep it up.
I work with these dang cars everyday with witech and the system can be an absolute pain but you guys seem to be on the right track hopefully it starts soon
You need to dump the files with the program and you need to change the vin with a .bin file on hex editor and rewrite the .bik file
Have u checked the abs pump. Vin might be locked on that
That’s what they’re doing. They’re flashing the cars to program them to steal them to work with the keys.
Like you need a dealer technician with dealer software to rewrite all the modules
Okay I like it 😂😂😂😂
Man oh man what a headache…Im sure somehow you’ll get it sorted out and it will be worth the hair pulling out
Are all the modules aligned with each other in witech? Have you tried to proxi align them.
Hope they get it figured out for you 🤙
Try using an automatic tcm, did you program the tcm or use a spare. When writing a vin, it says out of parameter which could be Alfa obd saying this type of car doesn’t exist. Not sure just a thought
Or you can try programming a different car the exact same way as the d170, backing up the modules and program the 170 with the backup
Can't decide if it's Pink Panther or, Pepto bismuth?
nice supra 4:08
The pink is kinda growin on me…. Kinda 😁🤷🏼
when the owner ordered it he probably got it vin matched to his 2018 model at first if not then thieves had to screw something up

change the key pcm and the rfb hub in the back window
That's why i hate the new cars. Too many computers and sensors.
Ok boomer but I half way agree with you. Too much is connected to each other. 😅
Could it be dodge use the same modules from the 2018 demon for the 170 and only changed the dash module to display the 170 features
Wranglers have that same canbus issue too
hey bro my wife loves the color and she also loves the car lol but good video
Sounds like you need to get a set of modules that actually communicate with each other.
