I bought yakima big catch saddles so I don't have to take mine off. Also use two yakattack rotogrip paddle holders with longer trackbolts and cutting board spacers on the back track to raise it up and store the rudder using a yakattack track eyelet and those rubber coated twist ties to secure it down. Only downside about Nucanoe is cartopping and assembling trying to get out fishing pre-dawn.
Great review. I have a question. Is there a lot of resistance when peddling? I had a hobie and hated the mirage drive. It was super efficient and an excellent design but the back and forth motion I found pretty taxing. It would just creep up and the next couple days I would sore like never before. I’m trying to decide whether the bicycle motion might be more natural for me opposed to the stair master motion.
This was a great review. Thank you for taking the time to put this out there. I've been torn about pulling the trigger on the pivot drive for my Frontier 12. I have paddle the frontier, but it cab be a chore, to the point of taking the enjoyment out of fishing. I'm a big fella with big gut, and I'm concerned at how well one can peddle in a seated position 🤔. Also, I like to use a low seat position to gain stability. Do you think one could pedal the pivot drive without using a high seat position?
I’m a big guy too! Pedals easy for me, but the seat was in the high position. I think it was mostly designed around the normal seat height, but am sure it can be modified to work for you!
I watched videos, people say “it’s too slow” is this true or no? I’m thinking of buying one for ocean use. Would you recommend this, and again is it too slow?
Thanks for this review. I have had an unlimited on order since March. Patiently waiting. I also have a pivot drive on order. Wonder if I’ll get the updated transom mount you are talking about? Hope so.
The weeds don’t get stuck in the belt, or at least for me havent. I’ve gunked up the prop bad enough a few times where I couldn’t clear it without getting out and removing weeds by hand. Most of the time I could reverse the drive and clear it, so it wasn’t often where it was so bad I was clearing it by hand.
Since no one has any kayaks in stock, what is the legroom like for a tall guy in the Unlimited? I am 6'8 and would want the pedal drive but wondering if the seat could be moved back far enough so that i would be able to pedal comfortably or would it be better to go with a Titan 13.5 where the seat can be moved way towards the back? I am really liking the open cockpit of the Nu Canoe and how it can be powered by all different means easily. What is your opinion? Is there enough adjustment with the seat to accommodate a tall guy? Great review video!!!
I think any boat at 6’8 is gonna feel tight! lol. I’d be careful in any brand when you push the seat way back because you’ll unbalance the kayak. A bow mount motor may be a better idea!
@@YakFishChris I have a tall torso and inseam is 36" so that will make some difference I believe. I was wondering about that though. Sucks being a big guy sometimes!
The frontier is the one of the most stable boats I feel out there. You’ll only get the same stability in a pa 14. I love the boat and am loving the unlimited as well. Same stability just more/better features
@@YakFishChris the pivot drive with the unlimited is very intriguing. I like it better than the other systems. I was planning on a Native or Hobie, but this has serious consideration now.
If you order the one specific to the unlimited no. But I have the f12 model and need the transom bracket for the unlimited to go back and forth between the two.
I mean they offer free parts for life. So if anything breaks down on it, they will send you the parts for repair. Need a new belt? They’ll send you one. Lost a tiny cotter pin? They’ll send you one.

It should! The transom for the unlimited is a different shape than the previous models!
I currently have a slayer propel 13 and was wondering about speed comparison. Or if there is really any difference? Thanks
Good video. How does it handle weed? any stuck issue on the prop shaft or belt? Thanks!

@@YakFishChris Chris, Thanks! it helps a lot !
Can you set the depth of the prop? i fish a lot of really shallow areas looking for reds
I have a Flynt and looking at all propulsion options

Do you still have it? Do you really need to remove it to car top?
I always did because of weight and the thought of the prop tower bouncing all over the place scared me.
Nice review 👌. When are you getting a trailer? So much easier than car topping.
No, tolls are a killer for a trailer on most of my longer drives. I’m trying to stay away from a trailer. Pickup truck is in my near future
How does it perform in grass no one has mentioned that I their reviews. Is it a pain to get grass off the prop?
It is a pain if it’s too thick. But most of the time, like 95% of the time, I could reverse quickly and clear it. That 5% was a pain in the butt.
I won’t one down under I’ve tried the only one distributor nothing I want to order one Flint with pivot pls down under!?
Subbed sir
Why thank you sir. Went to return the favor and I am already subbed!
I’m a bigger dude that’s pushing 340. How did the NuCanoe feel compared to others?

@@YakFishChris If they will actually come through on that then that is awesome!
They do! I’ve requested random parts! Like screws, new pad eyes, scupper plugs, a whole new seat base after it broke and gotten them all!
