Listen y'all. Ive played for 30 hours and haven't done more than one story quest. All of the side quests ive done seem huge in their own way. Whether its helping a child bring happiness to a distant space station on a remote planet, or its boosting around a plenet and discovering resources, or its flying my spaceship through a meteor field only to clutch the victory right before dying. I love it.

Seems like you're an arrand boy in space. Flying a spaceship is so lame. You literally don't move at all through the vastness of space with our fast travel so what's the point? Crashed into a meteor and heard a doink but nothing happened. Lame. This is totally a last gen game.

I've been playing for about 14 hours and I loved this game from the start. I spent a lot of that time doing various missions on Atlantis and most of the game has been a pure joy to experience. The striking visuals, the soundtrack, the characters, the missions, and the huge scope of the game set in space.
A lot of this nitpicking and bandwagon bashing of Starfield is ridiculous, particularly since a lot of these haters haven't even played a minute of the game. This whining that Starfield is the "end of gaming as we know it" just because it follows a traditional open world gaming style is asinine. Despite what some people think, there really isn't any radical new way to play videogames of this style. All the great games like Witcher 3 follow the same path. And worst of all are the haters that think just because they despise the game, no one else should enjoy it. Talk about toxic.
There are certainly legitimate gripes about the game. In my case I would say the way the game handles dialogue in a weird "dice rolling" way is mediocre and nothing like the Fallout series. The inventory management and skill tree buildup are two other areas I think could use improving. But overall the game has been an awesome experience for me.

Idk if it's possible, but congruent (I think that's the right word) world generation. Currently there are boundaries for every zone of a planet you drop on to. Every zone on the planet is procedurally generated so if you drop onto the nearest zone on the planet it won't match up with what you saw from the previous zone that wass right next to it. It was procedurally generated when you spawned into the new zone on the same planet. So if there was a way to eliminate that issue, it would be a game changer for Starfield.

There are a LOT of reviews out there on Starfield. A number of these 'reviewers' combine fancy, articulate language in an attempt to high string the negativity and downfalls, all while discounting the sheer size of this game, the graphics involved and bringing this together. It's shameful what some have said in an attempt to sound important and fecal on Bethesda; but you didn't do that here! I was impressed with your review and how you handled this with positive optimism along with courteous commentary on the current 'issues'. I'm at about 20-24 hours into FO4 and am level 10 and haven't even been to Diamond city yet. I cant believe I didn't start to get into FO4 until now but im glad I did cause im hooked. Im also glad I didn't start out on survivor mode like alot of ppl told me to cause ive already died 20 times on very hard/hard. I cant wait for Starfield to get all the stuff FO4 has like DLC,mods and a creation club cause it's going to be awesome. FO4 does alot of things better than Starfield such as building settlements and role-playing your character,I love how you can make yourself into basically a ghoul and eat human flesh and be a night person with buffed up stats for certain times. The Ai is also much much smarter in FO4 and the game is alot harder than Starfield. I may switch over to survival mode once I've mastered how to play the game. This is my first game that uses mods so easily so I didnt use any mods yet cause I guess it makes it to where you cant get achievements and I wanted to play the base version first since its my first time ever playing a fallout game. I can see myself pumping in 500-1000+ hours into FO4. It really is an amazing game. Ive had both FO4 and Skyrim since they released years ago and I bought them for my step son who is no longer around and I'm a big gamer but never tried those games out.

I played this an hour yesterday and it started ok with the mining company, they give you a meaningless task, and suddenly the drama kicks in, what a shocker. • @LG1ikLx

Starfield is a great game. But I would have changed a few things.
Obviously less planets. The empty planets arent a major issue. But the map was so annoying to navigate cos there was to many planets to scroll around. You would have gotten the same result out of 20 solar systems instead.
Mining resources should have been more lucrative. 1 of the reasons planets are pointless is because 1 of the reasons to go there is to mine. But resources aren't worth anything. At the start your in a mining job. How the hell is a business sustainable that can afford several employees, spaceships and outposts but mining resources sell for a few pence per unit. Its actually faster to get materials by doing a quests to make some cash and buying them. They should cost more and sell for more. Make me want to goto planets.
Certain weapon and armour upgrades, should be only allowed on uniques. Like you can put explosive rounds on a regular double barrel shotgun. Its easily the best weapon in the game because ammo is so cheap. This would also make players explore planets to find lootable outposts for these uniques.
That ability thing in the structures. Collecting the fragnents to absorb the power. That was cool once or twice. Every single time just sucked.
Also if they had far less planets they wouldn't need to tell you where they all are. This would have expanded the exploration way more.
The UI is annoying. You should be able to have the container on the right and you on the last. Details in the middle.
    Everything else, BGS has addressed.
If you go into Starfield for its quests and customizable stuff then its great fun. But if you wanna explore a massive open world then I would say stick to Fallout or Skyrim. I do recommend giving Starfield a go but don't let other peoples opinions give you a negative perception on the game. Clear your head of the negative and positive opinions and just go into it for a casual bit of fun. Allow yourself to relax and be emersed into its quests. Try out all the factions and side quests. There is bound to be some you enjoy.

    1. The amount of loading screens is unacceptable in a game like this
    2. No Man's Sky has procedural planets. Starfield used 1,000 planets as a selling point and it should have focused on designing 30-40 planets with more content and explorability.
    3. The fact flying in space consists of more loading screens, small scale battles, and not allowing real exploration is a huge loss for this game.
Starfield can be a really fun and enjoyable experience with plenty of content but this is NOT Bethesda's best game. That's a hell of a statement to make there.

What I really like about Starfield, is that it is among the few games that it is unpredictable. You finish a quest and suddenly there is a surprise at the end that changes the whole thought. You land on a desolate moon and think there is nothing there and suddenly an enemy ship comes and attacks you, almost every mission has a branching into more sub-missions, it's simply amazing how much content and surprises there are in this game. I really don't understand those who claim that the game is boring.

I'm sure you have reasons to think it's exciting. I definitely have reasons to think it's boring. If you ask me what those reasons are, I'd say:
Lifeless writing, flat characters, bland companions, a shockingly poor opening premise, a dull and repetitive main story, broken quest design across the board, a general lack of thematic development and relevance (the game has nothing to say), a total lack of meaningful exploration, no clear and distinctive sense of place, no tonal/moral differentiation between factions, no ability to affect outcomes in the story or in the wider world (except at a couple of isolated points), no fundamental reason to care about the world or anyone in it, unimaginative weapons, poor facial animation, little enemy variety, basic mechanics (which might make the game more fun) locked behind perks... the list goes on, but I'll stop there.

Haven't watched the full video yet, but based of the title, I definitely agree. I mean, it's a little glitchey, but that's a staple of Bethesda games. Plus, at least when I'm posting this comment, it's not even a fortnight old yet, and hasn't gotten the chance to update glitches yet (BTW, if you have a glitch where your character doesn't have eyes, you can easily fix this just by quicksaving, closing your game, and reopening.) The ship combat makes me feel completely empty inside, sure, but it's not all too difficult, so worse case scenario, you just have your brain go on autopilot while you brrrrr on some other ships, and continue with your day. Those are the only 2 cons I can think of, and there are so man pros. I mean, there's a double jump. In what universe are double jumps NOT incredibly fun? If not to do some cool trickshots in combat, you could use it to try and push the game to its limits and go places you were never meant to go. I, personally, absolutely love flying over my enemies, reigning hell fire from above like goddamn fighter jet, especially on some of the more low G planets. I also love a lot of the more cyberpunk aspects, such as Neon and stuff. Neon really makes me *feel* like I'm in the future, what with all the corporate corruption and the entire planet being flooded. I would like to point out that Mars has not, in fact, been terraformed, and I would like Todd Howard to fix this immediately. There are no thermonukes on the poles, and I have not seen a hint of the colors green OR blue. Bethesda pls fix. Thank you for your time.

I've been gaming since gaming began and I thought this game was going to be THE space game.
I've played up to level 85 so that means I've played hundreds of hours to give the game the best possible chance before I make an opinion.
All the hype, all the bullshit promotion that Bethesda put out before release about immersion and a 1000 planets to explore is a lie.
Ninety percent of the planets are barren with nothing on them. You cant explore a single planet because they are not "planets" at all. They are mini maps that cover a certain circumference, once you reach the a certain distance you come to an invisible wall.
You can take off and land in a different part of the same planet and its the same bullshit.
When in space you cant fly round the planet or fly nearer to the planet, its just a flat picture. You are in a mini bubble and not at all connected to space or the planet in front of you.
The game is infected with load screens whether in space, getting off your ship, going through doors the list is endless.
There is no immersion what so ever its just a glorified shooter with bubbles and mini maps all over the place.
You may love it to begin with but after awhile you realize its a boring repetitive rip off.
There's bugs all over the place and the dialogue is dated and boring. I've been to every planet and star system and what you get no matter where you land is a cave, a science outpost, a fracking station, landing site etc. They are the same for EVERY planet !!
I feel I've wasted my money and time on a game that is the worse game from Bethesda and they should be ashamed of themselves for portraying such a game for profit and greed.
If you enjoy the game then all is good for you.
    Regards.

And when seemless-ness can be achieved with creative loading screens and culling techniques? Star citizen has fallen behind! The only thing great about it are the ship interiors. Which cost hundreds of real life dollars to even obtain permanently. (Previously, hundreds of irl dollars were the only way to obtain the ships at all).

Everything will be obtainable permanently ingame when they are on a build that doesnt require a wipe going forward. That is essentially after server meshing. The game is buggy, absolutely, but that's because it's an in progress alpha. That being said, we've had sessions lasting 12+ hours with no bugs or performance drops. It's all dependent on server health. In terms of graphics, Gen12 was just added in for rendering, and Vulkan is coming soon for global illumination and an overhaul to the graphics. They are actively keeping it looking good, but it's at a pace where appropriate.

I have about 50 hours in the game. I agree with you completely. I have finally gotten to the thing featured at the end of Starfield Direct and I have gone down the rabbit hole of one Faction story line that could have been the main story of Starfield it is so long, deep and compelling.
One thing I will say is that the ship editing system is worth learning a bit early on. One of the big issues in the game is storage space in your ship. If you tinker with your starting ship by adding cargo addons, adding engines, and improving you power core (I forget what it is really called), you can literally tipple what you can store on ship. Slap on one more laser of the same type you are already using and you are also better at fighting. The nice thing is, it is shockingly inexpensive to do this. For those willing to try this, just remember you can only use ship parts marked as Class A. B and C require skills you will not be able to get until much later.

Walking across a planet for ages instead of using a ground vehicle of some kind... or FLYING in your SPACESHIP!

The only issue I really have with it (and its a pretty big issue) is the exploration. You dont really have the unified experience where you can just walk in a direction and find something/someone interesting... I think setting it on a single solar system with 6-10 bethesda DLC sized hub worlds that are varied and interesting where you can legit just walk around & explore would have been better. Between those worlds could be space you can fly around in and explore with actual take off/land mechanics like no mans sky

My brutally honest feedback is this: I am anoyed. Annoyed that space travel does not exist in this game, just some clicks on a starmap. Annoyed that my smartphone has a better voiced AI than a robot build 275 years into the future who sounds more like a 64 bit voiced sound card on a Commodore computer from 1980. And it took me only 2 hours of gameplay to notice these.
And no free look around your ship? You are stuck with the view your ship is heading to .... like wtf??? Seriously no one sees this as a big minus in a space game?

There have been moments in gaming where my opinion was totally different from the most noisy gamers, but daam, Starfield haters played a totally different game man.
This game alone convinced me to play every Fallout game . The story is captivating and it explodes in the end, the RPG really makes you play however you want , the shooting is good and there’s this general feeling of calm and peace even if there’s so much stuff to do .
Space exploring makes the world so tra with this open empty and relaxing areas that separerà the full populated and detailed cities . I haven’t played Fallout and I hated every minutes in Skyrim, all I know is that it’s ridiculous that gamers always complains about the lack of quality stuff in gaming industry and when a brand new IP comes out, they start hating it and go back playing Cyberpunk 2077, which takes 3 years to be finished after the release date.
