This really provided a more in depth look that other outlets didn’t provide. You and ACG mentioned some of the largest gripes but provided the gamer perspective that it’s FUN. Thank you for the hard work and you actually influenced my decision to purchase.
Thanks for a really helpful review. My friends have been talking about this game for more than a year now, but I had no idea what to expect, now I do. 👍
Consider me a subscriber, everyone’s been saying how reviews won’t talk about the full game bc they doubt anyone has completed it and you just drop a 100% review before early access isn’t even out. Insane
This is the first Bethesda game that I think I'm only playing once; I don't think mods will make me want to really play the full game again (on PC, 100 hours on character). Here are a few things I dont like: characters and NPCs: everyone is just around for you all time time. The stores are always open and nobody has a schedule outside of you. It feels like an amusement park where staff is always peforming for my character instead of living in the world (stores always open, same people always awake, etc). 2nd thing: loading screens and menus. The UI drives me crazy; it's slow and unresponsive. This rolls directly into how I feel about exploring, as I needed to build an outpost to store stuff, and that experience is something I will only engage in once; llanet exploration is so dull that it's not worth landing on any planets any more. 3rd: I just don't care about the story. It just gets a shoulder shrug from me. I don't feel that it's necessarily poignant, and the loop of artifact collection and puzzle solving is so much less interesting than playing any Fallout or ES game. Enemy factions are more faceless than generic raiders in my opinion, and all the alien life just makes me think No Man's Sky's goofy creatures. They just all feel so lacking, I don't know how else to explain them. I would have been more interested in seeing a "Noah's Ark" situation where Earth's animals were spread across the universe amd adapted in weird and wonderful ways instead of odd genetic mashup of alien life on each planet. Those are a few of my negatives; for positives, I'd say performance has been great. I think it's a pretty game. Definitely opportunities to do a lot of things with your character and ship, even if I don't find the systems particularly appealing, they are expansive. Combat can be a lot of fun, a la Fallout 4. Overall, I'd recommend GamePass, not buying a new PC, to play the game!
I agree with a lot of this. One thing I slightly disagree with is that I actually do think the overall story is quite cool. It's just that too many of the quests associated with it are such a drag. It also doesn't help that the characters in this story tend to be quite flat both on paper and during dialogue. Basically, it's a good framework for a story held back tremendously by its execution.
First of all, thank you for the review! We all have heard about those games that did not cut it, so thank you for making this video and giving me the information I needed to go and buy this game and feel some hype for it.
Best review I've seen so far. Explain many doubts I had even after watching many others. Very good work. Most reviews are just interested in giving a number in the end and not "reviewing" the game
Yes, which is very weird because as humans, we're disturbingly prone to colonizing everything we can- even already occupied land. We're so adaptive that within generations, we generally can withstand different climates better than the first generation. I'm.not just talking lower oxygen, I'm talking places with different temperature and weather extremes, to the point that adaptation can bite outside the preferred areas. Same thing with eating- Europeans developed the ability to digest and process lactose with less issue than most areas of the world, which has endured through the ages.
Mate what a wonderful review. I will eventually tackle this beast known as Starfield, I only hope that it let’s me live out my very exact RP space persona I have constructed in my mind…
The handcrafted stuff is great. That's basically what I did my first run. Then on my second I thought I would take whole days of play bouncing around and even then I would run into unique places with a little story to them but that was about 1 in 8 jumps/landings. I don't think there's any reason to intensely hate the game. All it's hand stuff is fun and detailed and the other places are kind of an xp resource farm and fun to find a few diamonds in the rough.
You deserve all your success and the positives to come. I really appreciate the level headed delivery and thorough breakdowns. Really, really good work.
@AarushKumar-sf1vk I’d still be surprised if it launches and turns out to be a good game. Bethesda hasn’t made a good rpg ever. Skyrim was an awesome game with 350+ mods, but even then it was dry and boring in it’s delivery with the story and dialogue. Mortem here saying ”most choices don’t matter” isn’t a surprise at all.
Very impressive and in-depth review very well done. Kudos. Even more impressive is the lack of negative things you had to say about the game. Given Bethesda's track record lately, I will admit I did not have high hopes for this game at all. I do hope that this is the start of a new trend going forward for them, and we can look forward to more impressive titles.

You and ACG are my go to reviewers. Amazing work 🎉
My ears are too old to keep up with ACG these days
@@guidoc5772you serious?? You actually think Karak from ACG is paid off? 🤣🤣 He don't even have a damn sponsor, he is the TOTALY OPPOSITE! If you don 't like his chanel, fair enogh, but don't just randomly throw out that kind of braindead accusision🤦🏽♂️ These are real people who do this as a job, think before you speak next time...
That aside, i totaly agree with acg and this site is top tier

Same here, mort goes in more depth and acg covers some game genres that arent mortismals thing.
Except acg was sponsored for the review. The more the game sells from his link the more money he gets. Making his video an ad not a review.
Very impressive stuff Mort and a high quality and informative video as always.

First time I've seen one of your reviews! You should be setting the standard for reviews! You give a lot of information about the game, and explain where the game can improve as well. Awesome!
That animation loop of the space cowboy at 45:00 LOL
Thanks for another great review. It covers everything i need to know without the spoilers! ❤
This is why I subscribe. Way to crank out this review!
One of the best reviews I've seen in a while. 50 minutes and you managed to restrain yourself from spoiling everything, unlike most other reviews. You also played to the end of the game, unlike other reviews.
Thanks for the review man really liking the way you do your stuff and your one of the one I look up to when it comes to RPGs. That 100% must have been brutal so take care !
This is a great review, done very well and with good information. I’m only 8 hours in and should have watched this first. Thank you.
Wait what the heck mortim, you are a machine. I hope you aren't over working yourself too much to pump these videos out. Don't lose the enjoyment of the videogame through the time crunch!
As always, love the content though and appreciate the grind!
The decision to include the 'Background' option in this makes me hopeful that we'll get something similar in the next Elder Scrolls installment.
Great review. Overviewing so much of the game and it's systems is very helpful as well.
Best review of this game I've seen. You really explain HOW it feels to play the game without spoiling WHAT is in the game.
not really, when you fail to explain what certain systems do such as the settlement building it's less than useful.
So how does it feel to play the game now that you have had the chance to play it for yourself?
@@daveb7049 Boring.
Your intro about going 100%, link to your steam, and the length of this review had me subbed in the first minute.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Mortim. Nice video.
Your reviews are always stellar, and your 100% definitely pays respects to the efforts of the developers, but YOU'RE A GAMING GOD in my opinion. 100% is no easy feat!!
Truly an excellent review. Subscribed and and liked!
This is the first review that made Starfield sound fun to me - the others have been so focused on the combat and procedurally generated stuff. Thanks for talking about actual rpg mechanics, factions, companions, etc
Game sounds mid
@@ItsAlpacaMan great, don’t get it
There's a lot of negativity surrounding the game, mostly by people who just want to drag it down. The game is genuinely fun.
@@spendsshanks6050 Lied about what? Betheseda hasn't lied about a single thing. People are just making shit up because they set wrong expectations for themselves.
@@ohmnesiathey just talked about it like its much more than what we got in the end. They were talking about a lot of unique planets you can explore and find stuff on, but in reaility most of them are just empty rocks not worth exploring.
Damn dude, 100% before a review. You are hardcore and setting a new level of quality for game reviews. Big ups to you!!
Thank you for this. I bought the game a few days ago and have to wait until September 6th. But I feel confident in my purchase after hearing a review from someone who has put all the hours into his review and 100% completing the game
Thank you for an actual review that explains the basics gameplay without any spoilers. 10/10
just piggybacking along this thought; I was scared to click on the review since I havent finished the main story yet. Thankfully, he didnt spoil anything
This really provided a more in depth look that other outlets didn’t provide. You and ACG mentioned some of the largest gripes but provided the gamer perspective that it’s FUN. Thank you for the hard work and you actually influenced my decision to purchase.
It breaks my heart nobody recognizes the “adoring fan” from oblivion
I literally laughed when I saw the character haha I'm surprised I haven't heard more about it
Thanks for a really helpful review.
Insane
Most comprehensive and best review I've seen so far.
Only reviewer that is actually developer and consumer friendly.
I hope nothing but good things comes to you.
Agreed! He's the best RPG reviewer on UA-cam, by far the very best.
Thanks for the matter-of-fact, no-nonsense, review. Pleasing to listen to and very insightful.
Best review I’ve watched, new subscriber ❤
First of all, thank you for the review! We all have heard about those games that did not cut it, so thank you for making this video and giving me the information I needed to go and buy this game and feel some hype for it.
1 Million Views for my boy, totally deserved. Congratulations.
From me too!
Great review, everyone needs to watch it. The dedication you put into making this on time with release is wonderful
"great" review where he fails to mention the point of a few systems in the game while having 100 percent it. What's the point.

Just stumbled upon your channel and loved listening to this review while I’m working this weekend because of the hurricane
I appreciate your even-handed reviews without needing to be shocking or sensationalized - well done.
Best review I've seen so far. Explain many doubts I had even after watching many others. Very good work.
Most reviews are just interested in giving a number in the end and not "reviewing" the game
So are there only 4 major cities on 1000 planets?
Yes, which is very weird because as humans, we're disturbingly prone to colonizing everything we can- even already occupied land. We're so adaptive that within generations, we generally can withstand different climates better than the first generation. I'm.not just talking lower oxygen, I'm talking places with different temperature and weather extremes, to the point that adaptation can bite outside the preferred areas. Same thing with eating- Europeans developed the ability to digest and process lactose with less issue than most areas of the world, which has endured through the ages.
Most of the planets are empty rock
Always amazed by how fast you 100% games!:)
Looking forward to BG4 100% review in a couple of weeks, lmfao
Mate what a wonderful review. I will eventually tackle this beast known as Starfield, I only hope that it let’s me live out my very exact RP space persona I have constructed in my mind…
Outstanding review!
Thank you for the detailed insight.
Quite a surprise coming from Bethesda, thank you again for another stellar review.
Stellar lol nice
Reviews are actually bad.
@stefannicic6509 it isn't, its whopping 88 on metacritic which is a lot for a Bethesda game, fallout 4 was only 84 but it was a great game
@AarushKumar-sf1vk One that doesn't require modders to fix absolutely every damn aspect of the game? Yes, totally.
The 10/10 Droid review saw me just nope out of that site. Unbelievable how far that place has sunk.
Wow, first video of yours to possibly go beyond 1 million views! Great job Mort!
100% day one review….intense and awesome. As always, thanks!
Mortis, you're a monster! Kudos on the day 1 100% review!!
Excellent review. Clear, detailed, on point and without spoilers.
You sir have maxed out the skill in your craft!
