This is the new Peugeot 408 - a dramatically styled new high-riding fastback called the 408.
Slated to appear in Peugeot dealerships in early 2023, the new 408 mates fastback and SUV styling with hatchback practicality, much like the recently launched Citroen C5 X.
The new car is based on the current 308 and uses much of that car’s on-board technology and engine selection, and will be launched as with a pure-electric version in the near future.
Tapping into the firm’s latest design, the 408 incorporates a ‘fang-shaped’ light signature as is found on other Peugeot models, while around the back there’s a three-bar LED setup.
Courtesy of a wheelbase of 2.79m, Peugeot says that the 408 can offer up to 188mm of rear-seat knee room, while its 536-litre boot can be expanded up to 1,611 litres by folding down the back seats.
The 408 also incorporates Peugeot’s latest i-Cockpit system, which brings a smaller steering wheel for a more agile driving experience.
It sits ahead of a 10-inch digital instrument display, which can be personalised to showcase a variety of different readouts and information.
Thirty assistance systems have also been included, with highlights being adaptive cruise control, long-range blind-spot monitoring and night vision.
Peugeot says that the 408 will initially launched as a pair of plug-in hybrid versions, with petrol and fully-electric variants arriving later.
All cars get keyless entry as standard, alongside a panoramic electric sunroof and power-operated boot.
Prices for the Peugeot 408 are yet to be announced.

Hat off Peugeot... great overall looking car. The most significant sensation of these last generations Peugeots is that you can get style and quality at a very reasonable price. Good work.

Somptuous car ! Audacious, ballsy design that works so fine, in my humble opinion. Sublime car. It reminds me of the Lamborghini Urus. Peugeot now is considered mid premium in continental Europe, they are moving really fast to become an upmarket brand, and I believe they will achieve it.
I am from German, been a BMW guy all my life, but I drive French now : I have ordered the brand new DS4 (DS Automobiles)... My own brother drives a Peugeot 3008 (the SUV), he is utterly satisfied with it, it is a classy , premium SUV that looks terrific. Peugeot builds great cars, excellent quality (on same level as the German car makers) with fantastic stylish design , and it's time to aknowledge it and be intellectually honest.
French car markers have levelled up big time those last 10 years. I know that many Brits still love to bash French cars, out of pure pettiness. It's no longer the 90's. It's 2022 and the French make formidable cars (almost all Peugeots, DS Automobiles, the new Citroens CX5, etc... Renault Ev, etc...). VIVE LA FRANCE UND ES LEBE DEUTSCHLAND !

At last Peugeot got its Mojo back. This is what dream cars are made of. Daring and exciting especially the exterior. They need to price it fairly because with the current drab design trends, everyone will need this one.

what a fantastic looking motor. amazing to think it’s pulled by a 1.2 engine. damn clever them french. peugeot really are getting ahead of the game when it comes to styling. just a shame i need to remortgage to buy one.
I think 1.2 130hp is not enough for this beast but hybrid version is too expensive... Probably the best way is a 1.2 130hp with stage 1 tunning...20 extra hp !!!
1.6 hybrid might be the way to go with such a large car.

I will never understand why 5 year old iPads are still more responsive than 2023 infotainment systems for cars in this price category.
What a nice car.. it’s certainly on my shortlist. My Eclass coupe Mercedes’ lease September 2023 comes to an end next September. I’m looking already what I will replace it with for the next four years. This ticks all the boxes for me and I was recently in Portugal and hired a 2008 with 3d cockpit, lovely car and enjoyed my two week hire of it.. so I may well look at buying one 0f these.

with such new gorgeous designs, it may be the end of the class bulky SUVs... great thing IMO.
The vents on the roof give nice Lamborghini vibes, it's a really cool touch. Overall it's very unmistakably Peugeot in its design, for sure, but I find that lately they're going for something a bit too... aggressive? for my taste. I find its Citroen C5X cousin much more welcoming with its rounder shapes and overall character. In fairness I'm probably biased though, I have one of the new C4 and I absolutely love it.

I disagree. The C5X looks much more elegant. Sleek even, unlike this...this bloated lump full of bulges, ridges, lines in all directions.....YUK. And THOSE wheels!!!! And THAT rear step...I mean, "bumper" (?)

If i remember correctly early/mid 2023 and electric versions "later". 408 does sure look like a beauty.
But now that peugeot revealed its 308 electric versions, don't really know which one to go for.
I wouldn't trade a solid wagon that also looks decent (308SW) over a weird jacked up unpractical fuel inefficient SUV-ish thing that screams "I am a sheep trying to stand out".

I'd like to know too - I currently have a Citroen C4 (new shape) and the ride quality is superb. Unfortunately, ride quality and comfort doesn't seem to be what car manufacturers focus on - they are more about 'infotainment', touch screens and visual design flair. Ride quality and being comfortable over bumps doesn't look good, therefore doesn't sell the car, in a showroom or on UA-cam!!

You could say this is the Citroen C5X or the new DS6 or DS4 or Opel Manta etc. French cars tend to loose their identity as they are made on the same paterns for cost cuttings and with lots of cheap recycled plastics around. In fact they become variations of the same car sold by the Banks behind the car corporations

Στην εμφάνιση (εσωτερικό και εξωτερικό) είναι κυρίως αυτό που δεν μπορώ να αποφασίσω.
@@mark36735 Αν με κάποιον περίεργο τρόπο ξυπνούσα αύριο το πρωί και είχα τα χρήματα για ένα τέτοιο αυτοκίνητο, φυσικά το Peugeot. Πιο φρέσκο, πιο "ταπεινό", πιο μαζεμένο σε όλα του. Από Mercedes το μόνο που θα σκεφτόμουν σοβαρά θα ήταν η GLC που, με την σειρά της, είναι πιο διακριτική από τις X4, Χ6. Και έχουμε και το Audi Q8, που μαζεύτηκε κάπως σε σχέση με το τέρας που ήταν παλιότερα.

It can’t be called 4008 as there is already a model called that. Just not sold in Europe.
