One correction regarding the panning of the Digitone's inputs in the section "Digitone Master Page Settings": To get a stereo signal, the left input must be panned completely to the left and the right input completely to the right. I did that wrong in the video, many thanks to Chavdar Chavdarov for the hint!
Hey Spherical, thanks a bunch for that really nice feedback - highly appreciated! You're very welcome and I'm happy to hear that you like the style. Have a great day! :)
Thanks buddy and awesome to hear! Would love to see that combo in your videos. Although I never got into the OP-Z I think the combo is really cool. I assume you won't have the midi problem there as the OP-Zs midi is more stable than the OP-1s.
Yeah that is very “Old School”, I love it. I did the same thing the first time I needed to sync two machines and I couldn’t find a midi cable, well like your example everything synced up fine! Thanks, cool vid
Hey Howard, thanks a bunch! Yeah sometimes the old school way is the best way 😁 and you only need an audio cable to hook both machines up. Cheers and have a great start into the week!
I found your channel 2 days ago and already learnt twice as much as I used to know. I've had the digitonw for few months now, but wasn't diggint into it much. Your videos are giving great insights man. Thank you for all the work you put in. One thing tho about the inputs of the digitone. Don't you lose the stereo signal if you don't pan the L input to the left and R input to the right? It kind of sends the left to both sides and same with the right too which defeats the stereo width. I think that if you leave them central will make more sense when using 2 mono inputs for 2 different instruments.
Hey Chavdar, thanks for your words! So happy to hear that you learned so much, that's really cool to hear! And you're absolutely right about the Inputs on the Digitone - just didn't think of it when I was making the video but of course you're right. When I now use the Digitone together with the Digitakt I also pan the inputs to get the signal from the Takt in stereo. I'll add a note in the comments, thanks for the hint! Really appreciate that :)
Hello Miles! Do you know if the OP1 Field's midi host capacity will allow an OP1 Field USB C to USB B into Digitone/ Digitakt to. Digi as midi out to Op1 Field midi in through USB C?
Hey, that's a good question indeed - I have never used the field so I can't really say if it improved compared to the original one. But with the original one I had serious issues to get MIDI to work so I hope they improved it!
Hi Bettina, I'm actually not sure if this setup would work via Overbridge too. In this case I use an external recorder to record this (an old Olympus LS-5) but it would work in a DAW as well: The OP-1 goes straight into the Digitone in and the Digitones outs go into the stereo ins of your interface to record it in a DAW.
This a great tutorial. The digitone actually passes its external input separately over USB so you can record that audio (OP-1 here) as a separate track in your DAW via overbridge. Love this feature!

Very nice. Thank you!
Cheers Ray, you are very welcome!
subbed for the reggie samples
The Reggie vocal samples are great. Got them from a soundpack Jeremy from RMR released for the OP-1, it's great!
Nice and honest ,clear walk through and I like your style.
Food for thought- thanks dude 🌞

Awesome ! Inspiring me to make the OP-Z + Digitone combo finally to follow in your footsteps!

Great stuff! Your process and ideas are really well explained. Thank you for showing us a glimpse of what's under the hood of this mystery music.
Hey chateautemp, thank you so much for the nice feedback! It's great to hear that this video is useful for some people too. :) Cheers!
This was awesome, great transition idea
Great to hear, thank you for your feedback!
Good Jam at the end! The OP looks interesting! We are in sync haha, I just uploaded a video of the digitone next to the Volca FM! :)
Thanks mate, the OP-1 definitely is. And just checked out your new Digitone video, nice! 😁

Ein sehr gutes Tutorial !
Danke dir, Dieter! Freut mich sehr zu hören :)

Where did that vocal sample come from? It's just beautiful.
Thanks again Stephen! It's actually from an OP-1 sample pack created by Jeremy Blake (Red Means Recording). Great sounds in there, I really dig it

Hey Simon, du musst auf der Master Seite der Digitone die Input Levels hochdrehen, sonst hörst du nichts.
@@MilesKvndra Thank You Miles, just now it works. Many thanks !👍👌
You should have your own thread @ Elektronauts - are you registered there? Quality stuff!
Cheers man! Elektronauts is awesome, great knowledge and inspiration there! I'm registered and already posted it, but I don't have an own thread yet
@@MilesKvndra create one like Ylva and Ivar did and post everything there

Warm welcome Jake and thank you! So glad to see so many people from my man over here - I'm a huge fan of his art too!
There is no midi sync connection? 😮
No I synced these by hand as every midi connection would need extra devices
@@MilesKvndra thats sounds bad. Especialy, i would expected for a device in that pricerange. 🤷
@@fanibacsi2918 yeah that’s true. Maybe the new OP-1 field has a plug n play solution but this older one doesn’t

such a shame about the shit midi on the op1, really is a dealbreaker when it comes to integration
Yeah, that really is a pitty. Would be great to use it in bigger setups too!
