  • Here is our 2006 Buick Lucerne with a small antifreeze leak, most likely Intake manifold gaskets (seems to be common). Car has 109,000 Miles. Have never dug this far into a 3.8 before it was a little intimidating at first but this one seemed pretty straight forward. This is part 6 of 6. Finishing up installation and starting vehicle. Might have to double check and do this on my car as well. I have the same leak at the same spot. Looked up above and I saw some wet areas around the oil pan gasket, just above the black plastic cover that's in between the oil pan and the flywheel. Moisture both slightly above and below the white gasket line. I'm thinking my leak may be caused by the oil pan gasket going bad. But its only in that corner area. I may do a double check to be sure, because there's also a little bit of moisture back at the top of the engine by the lower intake manifold in the same bottom right corner like yours too. Nothing crazy, but its wet again after cleaning it with brake clean. Hell, who knows, might just do both of em. Oil pan looks easier, so I'll start there.

Might have missed it but didn’t see a definite leak. Did this fix the leak at the engine pan/transmission area? I have the same leak, have replaced upper and lower gaskets already about 6 months ago. I cannot see the leak anywhere.

Replacing the upper gaskets did fix my issue with the leak, but there could be other areas that cause a small leak also. Thanks

Very nice job!!!!! Where did you get the copies of the torque specs on both lower and upper intakes? Also, How did you get the lower intake cam shaft area where all that oil was? It was crystal clean.....I have a 2008 lucerne and I am sure one day i will have this done. These cars are great but always something going bad in them, I have to install a new charcoal canister soon with all the sensors, They keep you always at the parts shop, But its horrible that the parts are made like crap these days,,,,Good luck with your lucerne
