I love how Fabi is one of the greatest chess players to ever sit as a board and he doesn't open up with anything crazy, but just plays good, solid chess.
One of the greatest but not so great as Mike.
@@FunnyPianistUA lol 👍
i like when they show off the level difference with flashy tactics
@@FunnyPianistUA damn right
that's what boring abt fabi. he sticks to theory
‘Too early to ask for a draw?’
‘Can’t hurt to try’
Fabi with the gentle voice and intelligent diss 😂
The grandmasters come from a different planet, but at least they are generous to come and play.
Fabi isn’t a gm. He’s a super gm.
@@jackiepage6120 "super gm" isn't a real title...
@@vladi1Z well it somewhat is even though not on paper
@@vladi1Z he never said it was a title but it is a thing
@@vladi1Z anyone who goes beyond 2800 is a super GM
I know it's been said a thousand times but Fabi really seems like a cool, level headed, intelligent person. Like it would take soooooo much just to make him frown. Definitely one of my favorites!
Hes like a mutated yasser
You know what I just thought would be super cool on this channel? If on each opening, there's a subtle text in the corner that says the name of the opening used and the defense used. For less experienced players, we may get a feel for which opening is our style if we see a certain player use it a lot! Or if we notice a pattern with their games, etc
This was an English opening fyi.
I think that's a fantastic idea
Great idea
Interviewer 'So what are your ambition? World Champion?'
Every super GM 'Nah, I really want to play at Coffee Chess!'
Really cool to see how Fabi just chilling on the board. Putting his pieces on great squares, not forcing anything, relying on his superior structure and the fact that an opportunity will present itself eventually.
The "who does he think he is? Fabiano Caruano?" made me laugh 😂
Carlini everynight: "I'm coming in, hold it hold it!"
It was like playing a chess engine.
YOUR MISSION HAS BEEN COMPLETED!!!
Chess is having an amazing spike right now and becoming mainstream!!!
It’s win for coffee chess and all chess players alike!
Fabi should be proud to play second best player in the history of chess. First is Mike.
I have to give it up for these elite GMs, who donate their time to come down and play with the coffee chess gang👏👏
Give what up Dom?
it's great that Fabi and Hikaru play on your channel. Amazing ! Thanks for sharing.
Haven't been watching for a while, Wow Coffee Chess has come a long way..GM Hikaru and now GM Caruana!! I've gotta go back and do a Coffee Chess Marathon 💯👌
It goes to show how difficult it is to create an advantage. Carlini was even well into the middle game. Even though I doubt he would ever win against Fabi. Takes work to win, even if you are Fabi.
Its fantastic to watch these high level chess players. Unless they are playing on of their peers, they just know that their opponent doesn't have a chance.
Fabi is so lucky to play with legendary carlini ❤️🤟😜
You're now confirmed!
Sooooo true! Who's this Fabi guy again?😂
@@johncee853 its the new guy nobody has seen before
Dude is a beast and so calm with it
Thats not mate???
Kf1, Rd1, Kg2
King can run and make Fab run out on time
Kf1 Rf2#
Fabi seemed to be "coasting" the opening and middlegame... the moment they hit the endgame he was ferocious, and the endgame is Carlini's "strength"
The engine bar was even for a very long time!
Great seeing Fabi, really great guy
"He didn't see it", famous last words vs a super GM
I want to see Fabiano play Duck.
hell yes
Post game analysis is great
That Fabiano kid doesn't know a lick of theory and still manages all those accidental wins 😁
Only Hikaru is badass enough to play at a minute
What opening did Fabi play with black, that opening with the 2 bishops in the centre and two knights over to the side was very inreresting
what a cool mate
The onlookers were in disbelief at Fabi's play. "Who does he think he is, Fabio Caruana?!?" While Fabi's just chillin' 5:22
I love Fabi's style LOVE IT. He's probably my favorite GM to watch due to the excitement he creates at the table. He's courageous, adventurous, and uses unique lines and reminds me of a more disciplined Fisher, almost like a mesh of Capablanca and Fisher.
he literally plays straight theory, just better than most
One thing i learned a while ago is, there's a difference between knowing the rules of chess and knowing how to pllay chess.
Sometimes when I see this channel I feel like this is the way chess was always meant to be played. I mean, in a social environment like a cafe, chilling, trashtalking, on a cheap mat and a set of plastic pieces, over a reasonable amount of time. I love good old classical chess and I watched the whole WCC match between Ding and Niepo and they are amazing but I don't know, this somehow feels 'right' in a way the professional world stage doesn't.
A lot of chess is elitist, this environment isn't, which is probably why it is appealing
Maybe the big surprise is how long was Carlini able to hold Fabiano Caruana to even according to the evaluation bar. He took it deep into the middle game. That's got to be worth something against a Super-GM. The amateur player eventually plays bad moves, obviously, while the Super-GM just bides his time until the inevitable mistake.
Fabiano had (THE ROOK!) running all over the board.
Un saludo desde Nueva Orleans
For those who missed it, this checkmate pattern is the same one Bobby Fischer used in his Game of the Century vs Donald Byrne in 1956. Check out that game if you haven't... it's a masterpiece!
its not the same tho
Yo what kind of legendary place is this where the worlds best just show up for a casual game?
0:35 -- "Good Luck"
Could someone tell me where exactly they play? I’m not to far from LA and would love to go someday
I think that they deliberately keep the location kind of quiet. There are too many kooks on the web.
If your name starts with "Car", ten you're good at chess
Best one in a while
Fabi is a class act.
Two mins. for world no. 2 is just too much. Naka gets 1 minute, so should Fabi I think. :)
Any time a player moves King to H8 on the 7th move of the game they are either 270 ELO or 2700 ELO
Foot always on the gas pedal super player👍
Ok, I enjoyed that one!!
I hope Fabi jumped at this opportunity to get Carlini's autograph?
At 3:07 why think so long about RxQ ?
Fabi is looking for mate. If I was playing there, I will clean up the pawns. 😊
Fabi trying hard to suppress laughing is priceless. Bravo
Indiana Jhones versus Fabiano.Great game!
Spanking Carlini 😂
" i have big respect when i'm on the board..... sort of....."
Danny rensch voice in the back
robert and fabiano would be a good matchup
what is this move at 1:00 where he moves 2 pieces in 1 move?
It's called castling. If neither the king or the rook have moved before, the king moves two squares towards one of the rooks and the rook moves to the first square the king passed on.
2 min for Fab is too much. I think Hikaru got 1.
...it's not a hidden mate...??? it's right there, dude !!!!
Carlini was solid but Fabbi had a fortress through the middle game. The Super GMs are always great in the endgame and they just go there when playing against weaker players.
I want Wesley So to make a cameo
where are these games taking place?
Big city. Plenty of unemployment/welfare. Pretty high concentration, comparably, of released prisoners (who played chess behind bars), many more college grads who could not find a job, sometimes summer, sometimes winter, The city boasting the most "progress". My bet is New York city.
They have nothing better to do, and seem to accept their own poverty.--So they play.
Carlini sounds like Hamm from Toy Story
LOL at is it too early to off a draw !!
1:21 why K-H8 ? Seems like a wasted move.
habits i guess
Because he was vulnerable in that g8 square so it was kind of a safety move
Great game Carlini!
Why didn't he take the rook on d2 in the end there? He would have 3 passed pawns and could win the game.
Nice try, LOTICIUS!!!
Is this guy #7 in the world at the moment ?
Fabi had more time than hikaru
I love Fabi but Carlini is HILARIOUS

From Indonesia fans ..2st✌️

1nd 😂
wkwkwk...
that could be twost or secost
Professional chess players don't realize how childish, petty and boring they really are !
very poor ending by Dubov
Guys, I don't see the mate. King can go to F1, and then what ? If Rook D1, king can go to G2, "Carlini style". I don't get it.
No, when king go to f1, rook go to f2 and it's mate. And even if you missed the mate, pushing the rook to d1, then king go to g2, then rook to g1, then king to h3, then white king go to f2. Here, black would have to make a random move because his king is trapped. And finally, rook to g3, mate.
@@gugalha Thank you for the help. I can see the mate now.
Although, I am not sure about the second line you explained. On the last move, I think rook to G3 is impossible because it isn't protected, so the king can take it. ( If I am not mistaken ). But anyway, thank you very much for taking time to help me.
He meant the Black King going to f2 not the white King going to f2. Black's King guards the g3 square.
@@arthurrtang9670 Thanks ! I didn't see that too...

Can somebody please tell me who that beautiful dark woman in the background window is? Incredibly beautiful.
Dark woman?

Disrespect not to resign against a Super GM in a completely lost position
Why? Fabi was enjoying himself and we wouldn't have got to see that beautiful checkmate if he had resigned earlier.
No disrespect. Relax. It's not World championship tournament.
I agree. This is a chess channel but it's for our entertainment. And ya gotta admit that the game they took
the time to play out was Very
entertaining!
Not resigning gave the opportunity to the Super GM to show he could convert that position with very, very limited amount of time. The hustler must've sat down already knowing his only hope against Fabi was winning on time. Considering the context of this match, I don't see any disrespect.
@@joaocarlosdarosafagundes7482 Well stated.
That was nastyyyyyyyy by fabi 😂😂
Naka would lay 5-1 odds.
Destroyed. Fabi is awesome.
