I remain skeptical about AC Mirage since there was no gameplay. However, I will say this - that trailer took me STRAIGHT back to the first time watching the AC2 cinematic reveal trailer. It almost felt like they were purposefully mirroring that style of trailer, from AC2, brotherhood, so on. The focus on a single target, the acrobatic city traversal, the social stealth, culminating into the main character alone with their target... Gave me chills.

This is what AC has taught us, never judge a game from the reveal trailer, I'll consider it not as paying homage to 2 but instead manipulating nostalgia.
Let me just say: My hype for new AC games has been pulled through the mud in the last couple of years

To me Mirage looks like a remake. They're approaching it that way because they are way too self aware if not. They showed quite literally every charming thing about the old games, even the little using the pot to turn corners around buildings parkour.
Or well maybe they found and hired some AC purists and let Ubisoft know what the fans want. So they release Mirage which won't make them much money but will get everyone invested.
So far it looks like good old AC. A fantastic cinematic trailer, old gameplay and the old vibe.

I'm most excited for Red. It would be cool if it had opposite social stealth to Valhalla. In Vallhalla, you put your hood up to cover your face, and cloak to cover your weapons. In actual history, Shinobi would dress like regular citizens and peasants to blend in so in the game you could uncover yourself from your mask/cowl/hood in order to look like a civilian to blend in, while still having a cloak to cover your weapons (as they would IRL)

you are correct that shinobi (Depending on what era of Japan were talking about) did conduct espionage by dressing in Civilian clothing, and other disguises, including priests, entertainers, fortune tellers, merchants, rōnin, and monks. but being able to open carry swords and knifes wasn't prohibited until around 1588 during the "Sword Hunt" - stating that civilians that arn't in a military or samurai role couldn't carry weapons in public. i assume that assassins creed red is gonna take place way before 1588, most likely between the 4th - 15th century, so i would say that hiding weapons would be kinda redundant seeing as plenty of people likely carried swords back then. Shinobi also weren't just spies - depending on what era of japan they were assassins, body guards, mercenaries, etc. tbh according to history shinobi weren't really known as spies until the 16th century. I personally think that having a "cloak" in japan would probably be more suspicious than just wearing normal clothes with a sword or even assassin robes. they basically wore what fit their mission. if its infiltration in the dead of night, they would prefer black robes. if they were infiltrating a palace or area in the day they would dress in clothing that fit the environment. if they were guarding someone who hired them they would most likely dress like as a rōnin. In the 16th century during the waring period they were known to dress more like the type of ninja we see in Japanese folk tales and play's. their clothing, appearance, roles and skills throughout history has kinda been all over the place depending on the timeframe.

I would FULLY support if they separated into two teams, one focusing on classic style AC games and the other focusing on the newer style AC games. Or even if they just flip flopped back and forth. It would make sense to make multiple smaller classic style AC games and then every so often..maybe once every four years or so...put the money those games made into one big epic Action RPG in the style of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. That way we get what we want as classic fans AND the newer style AC games will always be huge, epic, well written, well thought out, ever better funded, games.

For everyone curious about Hexe: The runes around the logo are from the magi alphabet and mean: "We work in the dark to serve the light" and "Mephisto Revenge House" which in a sentence could mean something like "Mephisto avenge our family". Mephisto is probably meant as the short form of Mephistopheles. He is the devil in Johann Georg Fausts saga. The name Hexe is german aswell. It means witch. From all that we can assume that it first of all will be set in Germany and second it will be around the witch trials. Everything matches together just fine. My guess is that we will play as a member of some occult group. Maybe even a witch :)

@@fr4rq236 What are you talking about? Germany was part of the Hapsburg Empire, there's plenty to grab for historical authenticity and historical accuracy in the 16th Century. What we won't get is to detail accuracy from all of the principalities that were in what is now modern day Germany, as many of those principalities had some distinct cultural forms of dress and traditions. Ubisoft is too lazy. They won't go that far.
If we are talking 16th century, there's also a chance we will see some bleed over from the religious wars of that time. And the witch trials spread throughout multiple centuries, but I believe they reached their apex in the 16th Century in Europe. (Either that or the 17th).

Considering they used the term Hexe instead of Witch gives me a good feeling that they're gonna go very realistic about it. Also, secret orders and stuff where actually really central in europe back in that time. European witchhunt is a period of almost 800 years that partly still continues. The idea of good witches is VERY new to us and the idea of Satanists who aren't evil monsters is some weird american thing that barely anyone knows. Tell a german you're a satanist and you really gotta explain that you're not ritually murdering children because that assumption is the norm amongst both atheists and christians. We do have freedom of faith today but it's not exactly peaceful still. The game will probably gocus somewhere around the most formative years for the luciferian movement that created humanism to oppose religious insanity. And considering it's assassin's creed and technically still fictional, they can easily revive the histories of forbidden, secret religions and all the real secret stuff... I bet it will become a very interesting game.

The newer games are not perfect - they worlds are too large, the writing is uneven (but Origins and first half of Odyssey for me were pretty good plot-wise, I'd even say Origins is up there for me as one of the best games in AC series) - but they exploration for the most pasrt is fun (again, until hitting the problem of too large worlds with too little to do), the plot is decent (it's not Ezio but not all old AC games were really all that interesting for me, it depended on title) and it's just kind of enjoyable in a way I can't really describe but I think is mostly summed up by how much you enjoy just vibing and roleplaying in open worlds. I’ve been a die hard fan of AC since the start and I really enjoy both formats: the old school, linear story play and the 3 (so far) open world RPG-style ones but I get that not everyone does. However, it isn’t just the new recruits that love the RPG’s.
I’m the most excited for Red - maybe because I keep going back to Ghost of Tsushima even though I finished it quite a while ago. That little cinematic teaser felt like it was for an epic and gorgeous game a la Tsushima. Being able to play an AC game coop would, alongside them returning to the old style for a change, be a big reason for me to buy an AC game again. The sword in code red looks to be Wakizashi a slightly shorter sword more akin too close quarter combat than the Katana. I've some experience with both swords and the hilt & blade in the animation is a bit short for a Katana. It's also unusual for such a sword to be carried by a non samurai in ancient Japan as they were bloody expensive. Of course due to the popularity of Katana in modern fiction they might use one anyway and the ratios in the image could be off a bit.

Repent and follow Jesus my friend! Repenting doesn't mean confessing your sins to others, but to stop doing them altogether. Belief in Messiah alone is not enough to get you into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Contemplate how the Roman empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20
Revelation 6 1st Seal: White horse = Roman Empire conquering nations under Trajan 98-117 AD & Gospel spreading rapidly. 2nd Seal: Red horse, bloody civil wars with 32 different Emperors, most killed by the sword. 185-284 AD 3rd Seal: Black horse, economic despair from high taxes to pay for wars, farmers stopped growing. 200-250 AD 4th Seal: Pale horse, 1/4th of Romans died from famine, pestilence; at one point 5,000 dying per day. 250-300 AD 5th Seal: Diocletian persecuted Smyrna church era saints for ten years, blood crying out for vengeance. 303-312 AD 6th Seal: Political upheaval in the declining Roman Empire while the leaders battled each other. 313-395 AD

Of the older style, it's even harder but I really enjoyed number 3 for similar reasons to above. I really liked the setting and main character.
Tbh, I tend to forget most of the nitty gritty mechanics and what not so I can't really include those in my decision (I played/beat them all at release so some haven't been played in like 10+ years) unless they're just so egregiously bad/imprinted that I remember them. The only mechanic that comes to mind that I really wasn't that fond of was the kinda tower defense mechanism from Revelations. It wasn't THAT bad but it stands out in my mind.

For years Assassins Creed 3 & 4 were my go to games for an engaging single player experience, and it wasn’t until Odyssey that I felt like they were headed back in the right direction. Although I’d like to see more multiplayer and customization options, the historical/mythology aspect is what keeps me coming back. Depending on how these new releases perform, this could be a new stage in the franchise, or it could be a total letdown. Hopefully there’s still a lot of ideas on the table, it would be interesting to see more modern stories in the AC universe. If they want to keep the hardcore fans interested, l think they need to make abstergo/templars relevant again, and I think the perfect time period to do this would be the 20th century. It won’t be your typical AC gameplay, but it’s a direction that might be inevitable if Ubisoft wants to continue this franchise for the next decade.

Eh, in my opinion Unity should've been the template for the modern AC games. It was most similar to AC1 in structure but expanded your options to a much more flexible system. It was more similar to Hitman offering you different approaches on how to assassinate targets. It also had easily the best parkour system and city design of the entire franchise. The game was buggy but the design was a fantastic evolution.
Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are trying way too hard to be The Witcher 3 when they have writers who are like a quarter as talented. Ubisoft just does not understand how to make open world games that aren't a horrible grindfest filled with uninspired content. The Witcher 3 was as good as it was because every single quest in the entire game had a well written story to make it feel important. It's the total opposite of the Ubisoft "stuff as much shit into the world as possible" approach.
RPG's are my favorite genre but it takes a very skilled developer to make a massive open world RPG actually hold your attention and be worth playing to the end. Ubisoft is not one of them.

Most excited about Red for sure. Should be interesting to see their takes on various figures of Japanese history, as well as being able to explore mainland Japan. Ghost of Tsushima certainly scratched that Open World Japan itch I didn't realize I had, but naturally it did feel like we were on a smaller island, so having a much larger area to be able to traverse will be so much fun, especially in the big cities of the era.
Mirage should be good, at least I hope it is for the sake of the OG fans. I'm a big fan of the RPG direction but I understand why a lot of fans aren't crazy about it. It'll be interesting to see how they update the classic formula for a newer game, considering how long it's been. Hopefully parkour feels as weighty as it did in Unity and Syndicate, and it'll be fun to go back to classic assassination gameplay.
I'm *very* intrigued by Hexe. They did say that this game will be different from anything they've done in previous entries, which means it likely won't be an RPG or a stealth-based action game, but I can't imagine what other direction they could go in, gameplay-wise. Potentially some kind of horror based gameplay, based on the overall vibe, but I'm not sure how well that could fit into the series. I do wonder if the fact that we're dealing with the witch trials means that there could possibly be more involvement with the Isu? That'd certainly be something.
Overall, I'm excited. Tentatively. Seems like there's a bit of something for everyone coming up, which does seem a little too good to be true.

313-395 AD
Revelation 7 Sealing of 144,000, the saints, before trumpet war judgments, which led to the fall of the Roman Empire.
Revelation 8 1st Trumpet: Alaric and the Goths attacked from the north, the path of hail, and set it on fire. 400-410 AD 2nd Trumpet: Genseric and the Vandals attacked the seas and coastlands, the blood of sailors in water. 425-470 AD 3rd Trumpet: Attila and the Huns scourged the Danube, Rhine & Po rivers area, dead bodies made water bitter. 451 AD 4th Trumpet: Odoacer and the Heruli caused the last Western Emperor (sun), Senate (moon) to lose power. 476 AD With the Western Roman Emperor (restrainer of 2 Thes. 2) removed; the son of perdition Popes took power.
Revelation 9 Two woe judgments against the central 1/3rd and eastern 1/3rd of the Roman Empire. 612-1453 AD 5th Trumpet: Locust & scorpions point to Arabia, the rise of the Muslim army. Islam hides Gospel from Arabs. 612-762 AD 6th Trumpet: Turks released to attack Constantinople with large cannons (fire, smoke, brimstone). 1062-1453 AD
Revelation 10 The little book is the printed Bible, which was needed after the Dark Ages when Scriptures were banned by Popes.
Revelation 11 7th Trumpet: Martin Luther measured Roman Church; found that it’s an apostate church, not part of true temple. The two witnesses are the Scriptures and saints who proclaim the pure Gospel and testify against the antichrist Popes. Papal Church pronounced Christendom dead in 1514 AD. Silence for 3.5 years. Then Luther posted his 95 Thesis, which sparked the Protestant Reformation and brought the witnesses back to life. Millions of Catholics were saved.
Revelation 12 Satan used the Roman Empire to try to wipe out the early Church, Satan was cast down as the Empire collapsed.
Revelation 13 The antichrist beast Popes reigned in power 1,260 years, 538-1798, is the little horn of Daniel 7, son of perdition. The false prophet Jesuit Superior General rose to power from land (earth) of Vatican and has created many deceptions.
Revelation 14 Points to great harvest during the Protestant Reformation & wrath on Catholic countries who obey antichrist Pope.
Revelation 15 Overcoming saints victorious over the beast. Prelude to 7 vials and judgment on those who support Papal Rome.
Revelation 16 1st Vial: The foul sore of atheism was poured out on Catholic France, leaving them with no hope, led to revolution. 2nd Vial: The French Revolution started in 1793, killed 250,000, as France had obeyed the Pope and killed saints. 3rd Vial: The French Revolution spread to rural areas of France, where Protestants had been killed in river areas. 4th Vial: The bloody Napoleonic wars shed the blood of countries who had revered and obeyed the antichrist Pope. 5th Vial: Judgment on the seat of the beast. Papal States invaded in 1798, Pope imprisoned, removed from power. 6th Vial: The Turks vast domain dried up, they were only left with Turkey. I'm honestly not tired of either style cuz the original games give such a beautiful historically accurate experience and great story while the RPG ones have some historical inaccuracies but really bring mythology to life canonically through the Isu. My dream for assassins creed games in general would be that they make the playstyle customisable, at least in some aspects. Like, being able to turn of item levels and let them have set values. Being able to turn off the entire HUD and still being able to find your way to your objective, and integrating HUD toggle options for those who want to check the compass quickly. Or maybe just being able to decide how you want to approach a mission more freely and having most (because all isn't realistc) of them work. Being able to select in the beginning of a new game if you want to focus on the story or open world & missions or maybe both.
I know it's an ambitious thing to hope or ask for, because a lot of that would be difficult to implement, but we need games with accessability and customization. Especially for series that have been running as long as Assassins Creed and where there are different kinds of playstyles. I just want everyone to be able to have fun with the games.

i'm curious about mirage, hexe AND red.
all settings could be interesting and offer much content that can connect to the older gameplay, make you feel like an assassin. but protagonists need to be truly charismatic and interesting beyond measure. i don't want the choice to be male or female character anymore. either give us one or the other. it would be cool to have a female protagonist only with hexe, to explore all the possible difficulties to be a woman assassin during THAT time, especially if this hypothetical protagonist is hunted herself. that game needs to be DARK and it needs to not shy away from its true potential. as do all the others, of course. but yeah, maybe my interest is mostly for that title, even though baghdad and japan do seem like incredibly engaging settings. if done well, these titles could REALLY work. but they do need to feel more like solid assassin's creed games in terms of gameplay rather than heavily rpg-oriented. a little bit of rpg, a lot more of classic assassin's creed. it's what we need. these games need to preserve and VALUE their own identity.

I hope it’s in more a Unity type fashion, but I think I’d still try it just because I’ve wanted this game for so long

Origins was my first assassins creed game, the ancient Egypt setting just resonated with me so I only experienced the rpg elements and grew to like them along with the exploration of Egypt

I'd recommend picking up the Ezio trilogy, and maybe AC3 and 4 if u like that, those are definitely AC at its best 👌🏻 Unity and Syndicate are underrated too

@@Frost4Real there is no AC game more underrated than AC:Origins. It just suffered from gamers vitriol, bayek is arguably a better character than ezio. that's how good it is

@@0x0michael i was with u until that last sentence 😂 Ezio is the personification of AC, the only character with multiple game entries. Origins is great tho and definitely a top 5 AC game, and the best of the RPG ones. I wouldnt say its as underrated as Syndicate or Rogue tho

I definitely feel like we create our own modern day character in infinity and walk around the modern day world, then with our own personal animus can enter the ancient world's from red and hexe, maybe even Italy or the older games. And we'll get missions every month or so kinda like in genshin how the story is added every few months.

Man I just miss old AC when we could hop online, and you had to hunt and assassinate the other team which was attempting to elude and blend into the crowds. Now that was the AC I fell in love with. Loved unlocking new weapons and abilities and outfits. Made me feel so badass assassinating one guy, then seeing his friend bolt in the opposite direction just for me to chase him down and get the stealth assassination.
Sneaking around players and pretending I didn’t know they were the target and then taking em out 😂🤣 man those were the days.

I was a fan of the original style AC series and always intrigued to know what historical setting would feature in the next instalment. But it seems like there are whole genre's and series based around samurai, shinobi or feudal Japan. This isn't to say Japanese set games arent great, but there's more potential out there. It would be interesting to see the focus of this series shifted to location's or era's that haven't been explored as much. Rather than Japan it could be Korea or Mongolia of a similar time period; or south-east Asia and Indochina in the colonial period; or south or central Asia. Imperial/revolutionary Russia did get some attention but didnt feature in a full scale game in the series. Location's in South America could feature the time period of Simón Bolívar.
Witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire does sound like an interesting new era and location to me.

With Red, probably because I had been one of those who wanted a game set in Japan in the early years, I wish they would take it in the direction of older games at the very least. My personal wish is for them to make it more like Unity.

As another old timer who has been playing since the first one, I have been enjoying every entry into the franchise. I love them all for their look back into ancient times and cultures. I do wish they'd get back to keeping it more Assassin's vs templar. I liked the Isu when they were still in the past and not exactly active in the present.
Also as an old fart, screw mobile games. :P

I love RPGs, but some games dont need to go that route. I'm happy we're going back to the roots. Wish they kept the large open world, though. I like exploring, but I understand most people don't like huge open-world games.

I just really hope they keep up the fantastic levels of diversity the series has brought to it's games recently, especially with Vahalla. I'm hoping we see many different races in all of the following games too. Representation matters and having it in only one game would make it look token.

When i hear the stuff for AC Infinity it makes me think of the Master Chief Collection for Halo but a sort of "Hub Game" that actually has stuff to do other than go through menus. which honestly, is probably the perfect way to get your AC collection of games in one spot imo. is this what it will be? who knows, but I'd be all for it, especially if its ubisoft account based and i could have the games on all platforms because of it.

Considering the fact that the icons for each game in the series just got updated to a standard black background with the game’s name and the assassin logo on it (on Xbox at least), it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what they planned on doing

I'd love to see them in a hub and each game gets updated a bit so they run smoothly on modern systems. As much as I love the OG games, they don't run very well on current systems as they were designed for much slower systems and their fps had to be limited. If they could find a way to record them to run at 120fps or higher they would be great again.
