What's your favourite clip in the video? Mines is Yusuf saying he can't speak Italian that well while speaking it fluently.
Unfortunately not all Assassin's Creed games have a language dub specific to where the game was taking place. So some characters don't speak much of their native language.

I really wish they’d have given Arno a French accent in the game, hearing him speak French is so much more believable
Yeah, and also they should have got an actual Parisian voice actor, the Quebec accent sounds so out of place in mainland France
Everyone sounds British for some reason and I can't go back after French
then play the game in french
@@ethanbotterill2743 actually an argument could be made that having a Quebecan accent for Arno (and the rest of the nobility / upper class characters in AC Unity) is that it's more historically accurate. The common language and accent of France, Paris in particular, shifted significantly during and after the French revolution, since the working class dominated the government and cultural sphere after overthrowing the monarchy and nobility. Hence, the French nobility who were the first settlers in Canada (even before the British) retained their accents, common phrases etc since they weren't affected by the political and cultural shifts in France - making it more accurate to have a Quebecan do the French dub, since modern day Quebecan French shares more linguistic commonalities with the French nobility pre-revolution compared to a modern day French accent.
Totally. As someone from England hearing an English accent threw me off so much I struggled to take anything he said seriously.

I had no problem with unity since i’m fluent in french
Mirage was awesome in the Arabic dub. Much better than the English original. They sound like they have Indian accents
Yeah I'm new to AC but I'm trying to do that
I first played Syndicate in english and now it's Unity in french (which is my mother tongue btw)
I always played the Ezio trilogy in italian, simply because the mixed in Italian words with awful accent threw me off. And I played Unity in French because their original voices were awful.
Arno's French is so good, idk why, but I like it more than I should
That part with Arno and the mirror - the de Carnellion suit is how he sees himself vs the mirror image being what he actually is
😂😂
Connor’s native language was the most interesting to hear since i (man other people also I’m assuming) don’t know much about Native American culture. The other languages like English (obviously), French, Italian, Arabic, and etc were the least interesting because I heard them before and they’re more common. Also out of all these games, unity sounds the best with its native language.

He can barely handle English
Purely because of Edward's scene I now realize that English can still sound pretty cool

Gotta play it like that
If Irn Assassin recorded all this footage himself, they're a true gigachad
It's kinda sad that Ubisoft didn't use the same voices for the english and the native languages. It probably would have been hard for the actors, but still, it would have sounded way better then these.
Btw, Arno already has an assassin suit at the time when he wasn't even one in this video.
I think it's because the person was probably replaying that mission.
There is only one save file in unity, so once you've done the mission once, when you replay you have the outfit
He also has the sword of eden or whatever it was called too
It would have sounded terrible for the native listeners, since the English speaking actors probably can't pronounce the words very well. It also would have most likely been horribly slow and inefficient to have the read different languages.

Except it didn't.
I've played every game over and over throughout the years and the ones that are the most insufferable are the ones before black flag and 3.
'Edward speaks english' well done mate
The first Assassin’s Creed had top tier dialogue and voice acting. Whenever I played it I always looked forward to the conversations with Al Mualim and the victims, especially Al Mualim. They were oozing with mystery and that made the game so real since the first one is the most historically accurate one when it comes to the Assassins themselves.
Especially since in that one They didn't give altair an Arabic accent
I like that every protagonist speaks a fairly modern dialect of their respective language. Then again, the Animus introduces far more artefacts in the memories than people think, language translation being one of them.
If anyone is wondering what Old English sounds like, watch one of the scenes of Grendel from the 2007 movie Beowulf, or just read a modern copy of The Canterbury Tales
That's what Eivor would have sounded like (obviously she would have spoken norse too)
similar atleast, theres a dude somewhere on youtube who actually dedicates to old norse.
No really I think. Old Anglo Saxon is still not old Norse.
Eivor will always be a man to me
@wargames well Anglish is is actually a dialect of Anglo saxon English, spoken in the North, which is has many cognate with old norse because the Angles come from Northern Germany and southern Denmark. They all originate from proto germanic, hence the simarities in vocabulary, due to both old english (Anglo Frisian, as it was called) and old Norse.
@@editating_2614 Eivor is canonically female. The Last Chapter proves that
Incredible video, never knew how they would actually sound.
Ezio speaking Turkish is criminal
I think it’s hilarious that the reflection in AC Unity isn’t actually a reflection lol
I don't think Bayek is speaking actual Egyptian, I've heard Ubisoft just made their own language for AC Origins. They used that same language for an Egyptian character called Medjay in For Honor.
Ezio's speaking is not a native language speaking. It's something like "dubbed movie".
yusuf complaining about not understanding italian while speaking fluent italian is the greatest contradiction i’ve ever seen
Connor is the only guy who had the most speak native language without a dub
I may be biased as an Italian, but playing as Ezio with the game in Italian was something else
There’s a part of me that wants to play the games in the native language of whatever the setting is but with English subtitles on for immersion.
Let's just hope Basim IBN ishaq from the next assassin's Creed game speaks understandable Arabic
So far it seems so
I mean they did cast native speakers as far as I know.
Bro when i heard Edward, Haytham, Evie and Jacob speak English so fluently i was like "Holy shit these devs really put their time into it!"
I’m glad I’m not the only one. My fav AC so far is Unity (I need to replay the OGs) and I’d always play w/ the French language on with English subtitles.
Something I just found is Iroquois names are unique and are never repeated. Ratonhnhake:Ton is not trademarked and will never be used again as a name for another. Also the voice actor for Kaniehtiio or Ziio is also Iroquois and her real name is Kaniehtiio.
I know it’s easier both to play and make it in English but I wish they did a whole dub with the actual language of the characters speaking at the time as an option. In Valhalla I assume they’d be speaking some saxon language for the majority rather than Norse. It was interesting to hear all the random NPCs speaking in native languages (and not knowing what the hell they were saying) but the main characters don’t at all. Old Norse would have been amazing to listen to. Understandably, dubbing a whole massive game with voice actors (new or bilingual) including new animations for the mouths would be a huge undertaking. But, they did provide a whole dub and whatnot for essentially a second character depending on if you chose male or female so they could have done a bilingual option instead of a sex option.
From what I know Altair, Bayek, Amunet, Ezio, Connor, Eveline, Adewale, Shao Jun, Jayadeep Mir, Basim, Eivor, Kassandra, Darius are some of the main Assassins to have spoken multiple languages
Y'all talking about Edward, but I feel like it would've been likely he spoke English but yall just glancing over the fact Shay Cormac is just gone. I get hes a templar, but he WAS an assassin at one point
He's also Irish, which at the time spoke English.
Irish people didn't really hold on to the Gaelic speach as much as they wanted to assimilate to the American West in that time period.
I'd saybits fairly accurate that Shay spoke English as his parents/Christian tutors would most likely only teach him English in that time period.
@@Jagger-Tyr_13 same thing with edward

So by this, Edward Kenway would have been the first AC where we could actually understand the protagonist without subtitles lol, well other than Desmond.
Man I miss the OG AC games with Desmond's story arc. They really just need to remake the series with the current tech, we could get a trilogy for each character and I'd be happy.
They could have a team per character and their trilogy, so we end up rotating stories every year.
Connor for most of the game as well, and of course Haythem who we play as first. Then AC Liberation, which was released standalone but I think was AC3 DLC. Main character speaks English natively there as well.
This is one of those school projects where they include all the obvious stuff to add more content.
This is pretty, but i think Ezio just would speak Italian with people who knows how to.
So you're saying that it's more realistic for him to speak a language (english) almost no one spoke at the time. Lol...
@@idoppiaggidiaristarco4184 Well, yes. But AC always had that kind of flaws, for example, in AC2 Viery didn't exist in real life, you can notice It because Francesco had Viery when he was 10
He does. The animus translates non-English speech, they explained this all the way back in AC2.
Does it count if you put the game in that language? I thought this was gonna be moments during the game where they spoke their native language not the games being played in their language
The problem is that they hired an Iranian-American actor to voice Altaïr instead of an Arab one or any Arab dude from the middle east His Arabic pronunciation isn't the greatest and he still sounds like a foreigner trying to speak Arabic and for some reason he speaks perfect English in American accent instead of a middle eastern one like in revelations but it's too late the voice is too iconic now

Altair is the one who does it more times, specially during fights

bayek kassandra and eivor are in there just very short
Aveline probably isn't in there because they're probably afraid the graphics wouldn't look good or something i dunno.
No one's addressing the mirror in Unity?
I think it would be better if Edward had some scenes where he was actually speaking Welsh and Shay having some scenes where he’s actually speaking Irish Gaelic
nobody is gonna talk about how sick it look when arno with the nostradamus outfit look in the mirror and see his regular self ?
come on man. gave us entire cutscenes for the lot of them and then the last tree were shat in the video with no effort at all.
Fun Fact: In English Ezio is dubbed by the same voice actor throughout all his games. In Italian Ezio had 2 dubbers: The one who dubs him in AC 2 and Brotherhood has a very young sounding voice despite him beeing in his 40s at this point (the VA). He tried his best to give Ezio a deeper voice in Brotherhood and it turned out well but they decided to choose a different VA for Revelations (whos voice we hear in this video) and they chose hella good.
Why doesn't Eivor speak Nordic? Icelandic maybe.

Connor is half native half English. So there actually should be a sequence in which he talks English as well, since that’s also his native language
The "GIVE ME LEE!" Bit was English so there's that
Yusuf Tazim complains that he cannot remember the Italian gibberish but can fluently speak Italian. Nice one Yusuf.

I was going to record for Ezio and Altair but the game doesn't have an Arabic dub. So had to use the line from the ending of AC1
@@irnassassin I'm sorry but what? I didn't ask that...

I love that fact in English version the characters speak with an accent inherent in their language. Idk how it's going in other dubbings but in Russian version characters speak without any accent like the native ones
