You're missing celery. When making cajun dishes like jambalaya, you need what's known as the "cajun trinity": celery, onion, and bell pepper. You got 2 outta 3 anyway...
Good lil easy cook! Great car/van cooking meal. In the future I’d recommend using a box Jambalaya like Zatarains and doctoring it up a bit with the Creole Trinity and garlic. Great meat selections!!!👍🏾💯👍🏾💯👍🏾💯
Never fails to make your day 100 times better I just had surgery on my chest and was feeling so down and in pain but this video made me very happy thank you junkyard fox
Great video, now I'm super hungry. One little tip for you, your knife should be sharpened for safety issues or get a small chefs knife to do the cutting. Everything you did was great. Now to follow your recipe and eat.😊
Gonna try this recipe at home before I go camping. Do you ever use celery or a dutch oven? You could easily feed a large camp by just multiplying the ingredients. Great idea using the canned chicken and Knorr rice! Green Chiles are not traditional in Louisiana Jambalaya, but I bet they are awesome. Can't wait to try that. I hope you saved plenty for Cuervo Negro. I worry about him getting enough to eat Best wishes!
Ya can’t get pre cut tomatoes 1st there pre cut have to many preservatives probably sodium plus if the tomatoes are already cut than u can’t use that sweet blade slicing them .
Having lived in Louisiana for a large portion of my adult life, and considering it home, I was unsure about your Jamabalya recipe, but it looks good and you obviously enjoyed it! Jambalya is a pretty simple dish that you can make in one big pot. I'll have to do one and make a video for you. Cajun/Creole cooking is all about simple and fresh. Thanks for a great video! Man, that hail was crazy, wtf?
THAT THINNER FIXED BLADE IS COOL WONDERING IF U COULD TELL ME WHAT STEEL ITS IN. I know it’s carbon guessing 1070 up to 1095 but I’m no Houdini or Nostradamus.
I am not familiar with jambalaya, but it looks absolutely delicious. The closest thing we have in Aus would be like a Spanish paella which I haven't tried in over 20 years. I will have to see if I can make something like what you made. I would like to swap my mean risotto for your jambalaya. My risotto has pancetta, Italian sausage, porcini mushrooms and button mushrooms, it takes about 1 hour to have the arborio rice "al dente" and the dish is ready.
I'm sorry. My wife said that I cannot watch your cooking videos. When I do, I want to cook. I love throwing lots of good things in cast iron. I love making too much. I love seasoning too much. The wife says you are a bad influence! Well, after much negotiating she agreed to let me view your cooking, if I limit the amount of ingredients to a ten inch skillet and SHE does the seasoning. Please do more videos on outdoor subjects. And, my boots do get dirty.
lol sorry to get you in trouble buddy, we love cooking over here. stay tuned, we got biscuits and gravy coming, chicken fajitas, bbq ribs camp cooking coming soon!
I hate onions 🤮id literally eat worms out of the dirt before I ate onions I have no idea why it’s been since I was a little kid but I love garlic powder hmmm powder. Your always using that same knife which doesn’t bother me but u must have some great blades u could trade I have knives from tops BHK mora kabar cold steel Benchmade manly knives Enzo Kershaw plus axes hatchets tomahawks machetes all from great companies and in good condition and like 50 folders all from great companies they all work great one of the folders is the Almar sere vg10 Blade camo g10 thick liners and liner lock it’s a beast meant for soilders behind enemy lines that learn these skills in SERE schoolwhich is why it’s called the sere. Its in new condition hasn’t been used much at all not a scratch on it opens and closes smoothly and fast tough as nails for a folder and wasn’t cheap as I believe they go for around $250 if your ever looking for a great do it all folder to match with your fixed blade saw or axe Hell you could use the Almar knife and just pair that with an axe machete or saw depending on your preference. I’ve probably asked for trades before so if you’re not interested its ok it’s just that I have a great collection and I’m not making the money like I was and can’t afford to try new good blades out but I have great knives for trading so I can still check out new stuff whether new to me or the world great video good looks great as usual always wanted to see the desert only land type I’ve never seen or camped in etc looks beautiful nice and wide open cool nights for a nice fire no annoying people to harass u about the cooking smell noise etc bet u there’s some cool stuff under that ancient dry land fossils gold gems ancient Indian artifacts etc hard work to find them but something to do while the food cooks or just during downtime’s when no one has anything else to say 😘.PS will make it worth you trading by at least $100 if I like what you can offer maybe even $200 more in trade than what u want to trade especially since I have to slim my collection down with the kids and of course the wife nagging me to get rid of them sell them why do u need so many knives yada yada. You know same old bitching Men have dealt with since intercourse 1st happened 🤡👍🏻✌🏻.
hmm thats a tough call. theyre both elicious, i guess for me it depends on the time of year, i prefer stew during the cold months, its a cozy meal but it can be too hot for summer
James.... I was prepared to be board and disappointed on this one, but this really looked and sounded good. Will give this one a try for me and meold wife. Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the New Year. Ax
I'm gonna be looking for those knorr rice packets now. I'll give that a try. I appreciate how you used the spine of your knife as a scraper rather than the edge. I guess that's the sign of a chef who sharpens his own knife.
I don't like Knorr's 'rice' because they mix in pasta, it's not just rice. Uncle Ben's has a lot of rice only flavors which I much prefer. BTW, the meal looked delicious, made me hungry!
James, thanks for sharing, it looked amazing, now I'm hungry again an I just ate, have a awesome week, take care and God bless you and your Family always. 🇺🇸🔥☕️🇺🇸
It's so nice to see you guys filming in New Mexico whenever you get the chance🙌 using premium Hatch green chili and using the beautiful greenery of my state New Mexico. Thanks for a new recipe to try out. Great job guys
have agree for easy to make rice dishes Knorr is good choice loved both favors you used and the jambalaya did look good, now wasn't that something a hail storm
Im always on the look out at thrift stores and yard sales for the Teflon pans just for the glass lids. They work very well on my antique cast iron too, great video!
You're missing celery. When making cajun dishes like jambalaya, you need what's known as the "cajun trinity": celery, onion, and bell pepper. You got 2 outta 3 anyway...
thats very true, but the recipe was getting too much for our ice chest lol
Good lil easy cook! Great car/van cooking meal. In the future I’d recommend using a box Jambalaya like Zatarains and doctoring it up a bit with the Creole Trinity and garlic. Great meat selections!!!👍🏾💯👍🏾💯👍🏾💯
ive never tried zatarans, ill be sure to pick some up next time
Never fails to make your day 100 times better I just had surgery on my chest and was feeling so down and in pain but this video made me very happy thank you junkyard fox
Hope you're better !
No joke, these videos completely relax me after a long day at work. Great Job guys. This recipe looks delicious
Keep it up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
thank you, im glad you enjoyed it!
Use the back of that knife to cut!!! Might be sharper.
3 days of camping using the same blade is gonna affect the edge, its not the end of the world, relax lol
Sounds wonderful! Begs for hot peppers!
How 😊 fun
Yummy food !
Good eats!
Jambalaya is very good
Looks good dude next time you should try some celery in there. Also please sharpen you’re knife most knife injury’s are caused by blunt blade
KNORR ROCKS. I'VE GOT LIKE 14 IN MY COOLER..THE PLAIN JUST PASTA SIDES R GOOD..ALL I DO W THOSE IS JUST AD LESS WATER..NO BUTTER NO ANYTHING ELSE
Great video, now I'm super hungry. One little tip for you, your knife should be sharpened for safety issues or get a small chefs knife to do the cutting. Everything you did was great. Now to follow your recipe and eat.😊

Excellent recipe!! We are in Mardi Gras season here in St Louis, MO!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Your KILLIN' ME James !!
Perhaps a little smoked paprika for both flavor and color…Just for the fun of it.
The cajuns might agree needs celery and chili
I see your using the o.k.c. 5.5 hunter knife for your camp cooking, sweet.
Your knife does not cut well.
Gonna try this recipe at home before I go camping. Do you ever use celery or a dutch oven? You could easily feed a large camp by just multiplying the ingredients. Great video. Heard of jumbalia? Never tried it, but will now!!!
That looked delicious. I'm a big fan of those Knorr rice sides. Excellent backpacking and camping food.
Cuervo is patient, I would be dying for a bite
I’m hungry guess u could mail me a plate to Massachusetts 🤡
You should make yourself up a camp chuck box James.
you know the video is good when you go give it A LIKE and it already has one!
Seems like every time I see you, your stuffing your face! Need any help? 😁
Good music, and great food.
PS: dont let that rice set too long, it'll stick. Hell to clean up---- 😝 yuck
Ya can’t get pre cut tomatoes 1st there pre cut have to many preservatives probably sodium plus if the tomatoes are already cut than u can’t use that sweet blade slicing them .
Looks amazing. Can't go wrong with Knorr sides, love em
That was some good eating.
Hey! My boots are always dirty.

ahahahahah take care of yourself, but live deliciously
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks Good ! :)
1:59 sorry, what is blackening seasoning?
its just a seasoning that adds spice. gives food a smoky flavor
This look delicious! We used to call those mixed meals as a kid goulash haha
I would have added the shrimp right at the and shrimp cook so fast
yeah that works too, i just feel like when you let the shrimp simmer longer, its a bit softer.
THAT THINNER FIXED BLADE IS COOL WONDERING IF U COULD TELL ME WHAT STEEL ITS IN. I know it’s carbon guessing 1070 up to 1095 but I’m no Houdini or Nostradamus.
its 1095
Looks guuud! I'll try your recipe some time. It's simpler than mine. Except I can't use "half"of anything. Go big or go home, I guess! Haha! Thanks!
lol very true. i jsut dont really enjoy too much bell pepper, it adds too much sweeetness lol
Looks awesome, that's a great dish to eat camping, it fills you up and tastes great . Wonderful video boys, take care.
thanks for watching!

i actually dont have many knives lol since i usually use the same ones, ive sold off the ones i dont ever use.
How dare you. It may be good, even great, but it cannot ever surpass green chile stew. By definition.
hmm thats a tough call. theyre both elicious, i guess for me it depends on the time of year, i prefer stew during the cold months, its a cozy meal but it can be too hot for summer
