The point of the dynamic between Kurapika and the Troupe was that from the moment they know about his abilities he can't beat any of them. He could only count on surprise and discretion. Gon and Killua were no match for the Troupe at the time. This was an arc about choices you are forced to make. For Kurapika, his friends or his revenge. For the Troupe, the survival of the Spider or the destruction of Kurapika -revenge, once again. The beauty of it is that all the characters involved had changing minds over this (Feitan, Phinks, Shizuku were in favor of revenge while Paku, Machi and Nobunaga couldn't stand losing Chrollo ; Kurapika constantly didn't know what to do until the last moment). Hisoka was the mastermind of the arc, Gon & Killua were only spectators until they ruined Kurapika's ambitions, which eventually allowed them to bring him back to the light and stopped him from becoming a complete emotionless murderer. Unreal complex emotions writing by Togashi.
@@herpieoli Also to further add it was exploring the psychology of Chrollo as the leader of this particular band of misfits and how his entire conviction in his beliefs of the Spider, because he thinks himself being empty, didn't change even when he had the Nostrade daughter tell his fortune, which is what lead to the decisions that got him caught by Kurapika.

This kinship is what made me begin to love the Phantom Troupe more than the likes of the Akatsuki and other villain groups. Their dynamic is impossible to beat.
Yorknew City is the best arc in Hunter x Hunter and the best anime arc by far. When dirge from the dark side plays as Silva and Zeno zoldyck walk into that room in the mafia auction house building where Chrolo Lucilfer is waiting for them was my favourite moment in Hunter x Hunter!
+Mr. Dope / Music Neon Nostrade's fortune instructed Chrollo to head west to seek out new allies after the battle with the chain user and shortly after kurapika captures Chrollo and uses his judgement chain on him to stop him using Nen or communicating with other Phantom Troupe members. Shalnark discovers that Greed Island was directly west of their position at the time of the fortune so him and a few other members go there in search of a Nen exorcist to remove the judgement chain from Chrollo. They succeed in finding an exorcist and are seen talking to him in Greed Island and Chrollo is shown waiting at a console which the Phantom Troupe members used to get inside Greed island. During the last season, 6 of the Phantom Troupe members fight and beat some chimera ants in meteor city, shortly afterwards Shalnark receives a phonecall and Phinks jumps at it asking if its Chrollo but it turns out to just be Nobunaga asking for help on a job, Phinks responds to this buy saying he hates having to wait, indicating that they are clearly waiting for Chrollos Nen to be exorsised by the guy they found in Greed island so expect to see more from the Chrollo if Hunter x Hunter ever starts up again.

Love these guys so much Togashi is best that making likeable villains you despite doing horrific things feel really likeable.Its one of my fav things about him that he carried over from YYH which I love more than HXH.
yeah thats because despite what people think most murderers have at least a somewhat redeeming side. there not evil 24/7 if only things were so black and white. togashi truly understands this and its part of what makes hunter x hunter brilliant

You wouldn't have the akatsuki without the phantom troupe. Also the phantom troupe are well written and actually have character development there just not a bunch of overpowered whinny assholes like the akatsuki.
Rorschach watches anime Both groups are interesting and even though I like hxh more than Naruto I have to admit that every akatsuki but Deidara, Hidan and Kakuzu has character development while most phantom troup members haven’t shown any. But hxh is an ongoing manga so I’m sure Togashi won’t end the manga without working properly on each of the members
Daniel Amaris I would have to disagree two gimmicky characters that were just I like money and I like to fight were not very developed. We got no inklings Hidan backstory and we got Kakuzu backstory in a bunch of show don't tell style drops of exposition.

3:53-5:06 is my favorite part by far. That was such a great scene in the show too, with Hisoka just looking at the spiders and smiling to himself in the moonlight.
They’re not, the Phantom Troupe was just that much more stronger. Shadow Beasts were actually pretty strong and could have wrecked Gon and Killua blindfolded

After some training they entered greed Island (next arc) and they both struggled with a d-rank criminal according to bisky. We got no good indication of how strong the Shadow beasts are as in all their fights they got destroyed, however being the mafia's strongest men and 3 of them putting a decent fight against 1 phantom trope member they should be strong enough to beat Gon a Killua.

As a hxh fan, I screamed when I heard ‘Requiem Aranea’ (one of the Phantom trope soundtrack). It made me feel nostalgic(T-T) I just want to experience watching such a masterpiece for the first time again.

Like it's true gon killua and kurapika have murdered people, but their motives are different and have killed way less people than the troupe. Phantom troupe would kill innocent people to achieve their goals while the protagonists would only kill if they're justified.
The Akatsuki and phantom troupe i’d want to see fight in a spin off of both series there might be a drastic difference but would still be interesting to watch

After some training they entered greed Island (next arc) and they both struggled with a d-rank criminal according to bisky. We got no good indication of how strong the Shadow beasts are as in all their fights they got destroyed, however being the mafia's strongest men and 3 of them putting a decent fight against 1 phantom trope member they should be strong enough to beat Gon a Killua.

Like it's true gon killua and kurapika have murdered people, but their motives are different and have killed way less people than the troupe. Phantom troupe would kill innocent people to achieve their goals while the protagonists would only kill if they're justified.
