  • In this episode we make some thank you gifts for the coaches and team mom of my sons hockey team. We go from the design, to the fabrication, to the finishing process, all in about 5 hours. This type of thing is one of my favorite aspects of owning a CNC. We can simply grab the team logo, and very quickly create a carved plaque as a thank you gift.

Thank you very much for the tutorial. I’m new to CNC (got a BobsCNC evo4 put together a few weeks ago) and these are just the type of gifts I want to make for my Air Force folks. Take care and be safe! -Trena

An amazing way is to fill the inside with colored resin with Syringe

I use disposable ketchup bottles from Amazon…. Really good control with a lot of resin in it

Nice gifts, Tim. Makes me want a CNC even more but I'll just have to wait. Thanks for sharing.

Was thinking about this... the great thing about small projects is you can use a small CNC. I started on the xcarve, which I still like. You can also easily find them used as people move up to larger ones. If that’s too expensive, I have a friend who recently bought an even smaller CNC from China off of eBay that was both a CNC and an open laser engraver for only a few hundred. That takes a lot more playing and fiddling but he likes it...

So awesome! Love seeing the process - impressive that you could crank those out in less than a day. Also enjoy that you include "mistakes" and how you corrected them without jeopardizing the project instead of just editing those out.

Great Job! I use DEFT brand polyurethane clear the quick repair version, it dries in about 5-10 minutes. Just suggestion when your pressed for time...Thanks for great content!
