  • I designed and released a fully parametric lower cabinet for Fusion 360. It let's you select the height, the depth, the width, the number of top and bottom drawers, and a host of other options through parameters. This is the start of several types of cabinets, with the hope that these designs can provide a free option for cabinet design to anyone with (and perhaps without) a CNC. While these were designed from the ground up with CNC, they should be useful for traditional layout and cut-list design as well.
I released the file in a new Facebook group called OpenCabinets. Head on over to Facebook and search for the group and join. I hope the group will attract others to give advice, contribute, submit designs, etc! groups/opencabinets/
Like, Comment, Subscribe, all the usual - but this time, can you share this video with friends that have or have interest in a CNC? I honestly believe this file may save people some time or money. Thanks!
Here are some affiliate links to many of the things you saw in this video. I will start with a list of all the parts I used during the cabinet build:

This is fantastic! Thanks for making this video. Excellent work on the F360 modeling. I am learning F360 slowly and can see how this project aided in your learning process. My AVID CNC should arrive this week. Have a bunch of shop furniture to build so this will certainly be used extensively. I have a smaller CNC 3x5 so it will take a bit longer to make the parts.

Clever idea. Several years ago, I was looking for something like this, but whatever was available was out of practical hobbyist reach. Thermwood gave their software away, but only with one of their machines! Good luck with this and thanks for the video. Cheers, David

OMG! Thank you! I am looking to do some cabinets but didn't want to invest a ton of money in software. The cost of software would have made making it cost more than buying cabinets. I'm not looking to be a cabinet maker and I'm a big fan of drawers so this should work perfect! Thanks again!!!!!! Very much appreciated :)

Awesome, I was trying to make something similar as think CNC is how we will make furniture, mine fell flat on its face with too many bugs and issues, it's only after trying to you realise how impressive your design is!!

I really enjoyed this video and thanks for sharing the file. You mentioned this was your first Fusion project. As you were learning, what resources did you find the most helpful? I am in the process of learning it as well.

Do you have a video which describes your spoil board setup in general and how it is mounted to the CNC? Looks like you have some poly sheet as the first layer? And maybe the board you are cutting is screwed to a middle layer.

This is a great video. I started following you channel as a new Glowforge owner and have discovered many interesting tips and ideas. My husband and I have been talking about getting a CNC router kit for a few years now and I think this video just tipped us in that direction! I don't have a Facebook account but am considering it. I love the idea of a community of makers who are not elite and judgemental. Can I ask, what CNC kit did you use?

One of the things I noticed was the discussion around the variability in the thickness of the tenon and how this led to it not fitting in the mortise. I think this should only be a problem if you reference off the top of the material instead of the table. If you reference off the table, then at worst you get a tenon thats a little loose fitting and you don't have trouble with the cuts not going all the way through the material.
