Almost 3 years ago I purchased my 3xxl and one of my first projects was your flag. I recently ordered a Shop Sabre that hasn’t been finished building. Thank you brotha for what you do fue all the new guys. Maybe one day I’ll build enough courage to make some helpful videos for the upcoming machinists
Great video. I just got me a new V bit and it took a deep dive into my project. And I've never had anything like that happen before.so it's the reason you found me on your page. Lol
Great info. I’m having issue carving pine and the vcarve channels are rough instead of smooth. Just carving text. Was running 90 degree bit at 100 ipm at depth of .1 It just looks really bad any thoughts are appreciated.
Hey Chris. I'm newbie with cnc. I've learned so much from your videos. My biggest problem is warp pieces. I tried edge glued panels and 1 bys. I zero where I'm gonna carve and zero at low point. I've ruined so many projects cause of the not carving or carving to deep in some area then others. I watched this video and you mention surfacing waste board. I couldn't find that video you had made on how to? Ty for your videos
Enjoying your videos. Using a Carbide machine and software myself also, so I find a lot of tips very helpful. One "frustration" I've had with v carving using CC and CM is that often a carve seems to finish the carve, then move back through the carve a second and even third time with no real perceptible carving going on. Often, the machine will make numerous plunges in one spot as if it is "nibbling" a very tiny area, but I can't really see any changes in depth or motion between each plunge. Any thoughts?
@@ChrisPowellFSD Thanks for the suggestions. I would guess you may be correct. Typically, I am importing converted btmps from inkscape., and I do notice a lot of nodes in the drawings once the image is converted.
Good info here .but not finding the information I need when doing V carve stars the the male stars always snap off the tips of the stars, I've tried slowing the machine way down way down to around 30 on the feed , I have all so tryed brand new bits, And still having the same problem. Do you have any advice? Thanks
Did my first cut and my stars come out horrible. lol the stars look they were cut with an hatchet and my ega the same. Stripes came out perfect. What went wrong
A. I TRIED TO ROUTE MY FIRST BIG SIGN in my "DIY" machine AND EVERYTHING WENT WRONG, THE machine moves when the bit touches the material, when moved to one side, the material moved, the bit is a cheap V bit 90 degrees most used for hand router, now I know what I don´t have to do. Thanks, I will continue suffering with it.

I really appreciate it. The best thing to do is just start. My first video wasn’t very good, but they keep getting better.
Thanks for this! Struggling a bit with vcarving and found this extremely helpful! Looking forward to watching more!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks. I have watched several of your videos and have found them to be very helpful. Thanks again.

Thanks!
Keep up the great work, always love watching your videos. You give some great videos and always willing to help.
Thanks!
Thanks Chris for the info / pointers 👍, always a great help
Thanks for watching!
Well done Chris feed rates and speeds is similar what I try to run my shaper as well.
Thanks. I’ve still yet to use one of those. Looks pretty interesting.
Great advice Sir. Thanks for your time..
Thanks for watching!
Great advice Chris.
Thank you 🙏
Excellent video. Nice work!

It just looks really bad any thoughts are appreciated.
Great resource of information.
Maybe next you can explain bevel carving and when it looks better than normal vcarving.
That’s a good idea. Thanks
Do you have a preferred final DOC for a 60 degree bit?
Great information as always!!
Thanks!
Great video and thank you for making the unknown known.
Thanks!
Great video.
Thanks
Couldn't find the cnc low profile toe clamps on amazon you mentioned. Where can they be purchased? Thanks. Good video.
Thanks. They come right from PwnCNC. pwncnc.com/purchase/ols/products/toe-clamps-v2

@@ChrisPowellFSD is there a video you have to learn to resurface
@@ald.3449 I’m pretty sure I cover it in that one
Thank you
good info THANKS :)
Thank you!
What is the name of font that you are using for the
" WE THE PEOPLE" ?
THANKS
It’s not a font. It’s an svg file I have on my website.

Check your vector for excess nodes. That will cause exactly what you’re talking about.

What kind of wood are you using?
@@ChrisPowellFSD
Hello Sir. Thanks for the reply ! Mostly maple 🍁 but I have tried pine and walnut also .
Thanks again It is appreciated
Try adjusting your depth per pass. Sometimes, depending on the grain, a more or less aggressive cut will help.
any thoughts on a start depth for using a 15 deg v bit for the plug? I just cant seem to get the plug to be tight on trials
I’d start with the same settings I used in the video and adjust from there
Did my first cut and my stars come out horrible. lol the stars look they were cut with an hatchet and my ega the same. Stripes came out perfect. What went wrong
No clue without seeing it. This video covers pretty much any possible issues though.
Good content 👌🏻
Wow i have been running my 60v at 30ipm with .04 depth per pass. Having issues with tear out in oak. Would trying your 100ipm and .150 depth help?
Yea I would definitely try turning it up. What material are you cutting?
@@ChrisPowellFSD oak right now
@@AaronTurnwald yea I’d try those settings. One other thing I noticed with oak specifically was to sand and seal the surface before cutting.
@@ChrisPowellFSD wow thanks for the tips!
@@ChrisPowellFSD forgot to ask how does the plunge speed follow. Like what would plunge be at 100ipm and .150 depth per pass
Cnc machine maestro
Thank you
Was that your new shapeoko4 you got that the gantry shook on in the video

I don’t have a 4. It’s just my modified 3.
Would like to know if you have feed/plunge numbers for the amana insert carbide v-bits
The settings I mentioned in the video would work fine for those.
I’ll have to give those speeds a try. Thank you for the knowledge and keep up the great work.
Thanks! Let me know how it goes.
