Haha- love the resolution to post less frequently, but then you end up posting twice a week anyway. That's a sign that you love what you do! Also, I've never had the second or third wines of Super Tuscan producers. Thanks for the tip!

I wish that we had you here in Ontario to point out the best LCBO deals! It seems like BC Liquor store has much better prices than we do. By the way, I prefer your current style of speaking to the camera throughout the video!

I agree on the second/third wines point. You are getting solid to very good wine from people who really know what they are doing and how to best showcase the grapes they are working with.

Escudo Rojo is so good. I think you previously recommended that one and it delivered. Amazing price for the quality.

I tried the 2021 Roserock from Domaine Drouhin and it was much nicer than their burgundy wines in the same price category. I also picked up the 2022 Domaine Drouhin you recommended in this video to try.

pseudo: not putting down their Burgundy wines but there is much more competition whereas in Oregon, they can use their extensive historical experience and it seems for them to translate well to the Oregon climate. Cheers!

I definitely agree on the 2019 Mondavi Napa CS, which is a terrific wine especially on a discount (I was happen to have gotten it here for ~35 USD). 👏👏 When I last made a purchase on the winery's website in May of this year, that vintage was only available by the half bottle at 30 USD.
Actually, my dining companion and I originally purchased a handful of the 2019 Mondavi The Estates CS bottles because of the winery's return to esteem by Wine Spectator, which brought back memories of having enjoyed its top line at a high-end steakhouse by the half-glass. Since we are really at the early stage of wine journey (exploring different major wineries and regions) getting multiple bottles is an exceptional case. 😁 Prior to opening my first bottle, we happened to enjoy the 2019 Napa CS at a restaurant by the glass. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up getting a bottle of the 2019 Napa CS, which allowed us to do a mini-horizontal comparing the two--what an eye-opening experience! The two are noticeably different in fruit profile, depth, and finish. For my DC's birthday, I was able to get the 2019 Mondavi The Reserve CS at a discount, too. Since it is much fancier than The Estates, we're simultaneously excited to try but a bit hesitant to open it this year. 😀
The 2021 Napa CS sounds exciting, too, particularly since they ended up taking out the Merlot entirely (11% of the blend from the 2019 vintage) and upping the CS to 91%!🤨😀

Hey Trophy, it’s Max here. It was nice seeing you on that day. Thanks for your recommendations on the US Pinot in the video. Recently I opened a Roserock 2022 by Drouhin and a Sokol Blosser 2017. I felt like I enjoyed the young age Roserock more than the aged Sokol Blosser. Is that because US Pinot may not be suitable for aging over a long period.? I will purchase the Sokol Blosser 2021 as recommended for comparison again. Cheers!

musfier: glad you said hi to me in the store and thank you for your continued support.
I thought I should clarify what I said to you: American Pinot does not fit my palate as well as Burgundy Pinot. Nothing wrong with American Pinot but everyone has their own personal favourites.
I do also like Resonance (which I have reviewed on this channel) so check that wine out if you see it in specialty stores.
Just my view but I think you are correct. For me, American Pinot are very attractive young but for most, their long term ageability is unproven. Exact opposite for most high end Burgundy. They are acidic and fruity in their youth, then developing more body and complex flavors with ageing. Cheers!
