    You didn't need to remove the throttle body. Just take the intake cupuler/pipe out the way and when you lift the plenum, make sure you don't try to pull it off because it's still connected to the coolant lines. Just tilt it up, apply your sealant/gasket maker, place your plenum spacer, apply sealant on top of the spacer. Make sure everything is aligned and torque it down. Hand tighten till it stops spinning. Then half a turn more. Don't over torque and do it in sequence (top bolt, bottom bolt). Put your intake and lines back. Go pump your brake pedal while the negative cable is disconnected from your battery. After you pump it (your resetting the ecu) go put the negative back on and start it. Bte removing the negative from your battery is the 1st step you should of done.

    Thank you for the video. I followed your step, and successfully install BLOX spacer. In my case(also your case too), that two M6 stud has Torx 20(not sure. 20~30) head, so easily can pull out and swapped with 35mm bolts that came with the spacer.

    Great vid I'll be getting one now (5/16) looks mostly straight forward. Would have like to see exactly how and what you did to deal with those two short studs. I know you said you just gripped them off anther intake you had, so did you cut them down then thread them in then put a nut on them ?

    when you are doing the final torque up on the bolts never just go from hand tight to full torque, even if they give a torque order and may not say anything about this. but you always want to go to like half the torque spec at first(in the order pattern they give) then go to the full spec, if you just go from hand tight to full torque on a part this large and flexable it can cause the part to crowd over or push off in ways that isn't good. it may work fine most of the time but if you do it this way all the time there will be a day when it bites you in the ass.

    The oil inside the plenum is most likely all from the driver side valve cover which connects to the intake which can be prevents by adding another catch can or just vent the one with the pcv and run the driver side to the plenum I believe. Mine is hooked up just like yours with my pcv still, but I will change that when I redo my heads to hopefully prevent my 1 qt a week oil consumption.

    If you touch the T/B, just reset it. No need to waste money on another, makes no sense. That's why Nissan has a procedure to reset the t/b plate(with no ECU reset). Also the lower hoses on the t/b ARE NOT vacuum(I see you later came back and said they were coolant lines...).. Now you mind as well bypass those if you live in a warm climate. Also you have aluminum, use ultra grey in the future. Have you tuned this yet because it's in your head you actually "feel" the gains. Feels good to install any performance parts lol.

      @kenmedina7762 7 років тому +3

      joe Doe, appreciate the reply. Tune definitely recommended. My comment was not meant to say don't tune. It was geared towards those wondering if it would hurt without a tune or if a tune was required immediately.
      For me it was a low cost, easy bolt on that I recommend. For me it was worth it, I ask around, look up, and put my 2 cents in trying to help others in the community and appreciate their opinions in return.
      This G35 is winding up as my daughter's first car. Plan was to have her take on the 96 Mustang GT conv. That changed, so once I get the car back I'll tune it. In the meanwhile I'll keep driving my 02 Corvette conv or 07 modified Suburban.
      I appreciate our boy Dnali, takes the time to share his opinions, experiences, tips and tricks and I respect that.

    • @takedwon98
      @takedwon98 6 років тому

      joe Doe it's a little extreme to say you gain no hp from bolt ons without a tune. You will gain some just not the the parts full potential. Your ecu can adjust fuel within factory specs. So bringing in more air it will compensate with fuel to a point. Nissan (not sure if it's the same with Infiniti) run a tad on the rich side factory so they do gain power from bolt ons without tunes to a point. It's actually been shown numerous times on dynos. But that same part tuned will yield more

      Thank you for your answer. Why the 350z mid pipe? is it different than g35 mid pipe? I was thinking they were the same since we have same engine. Thank you!

      +Eulogio Adrio Villar the coupe and 350z share the same mid pipe but the G35 sedan has a much bigger mid pipe and makes it much more quiet than a Z or coupe

    What's the difference between blox 5/16, and Motordyne 5/16 spacer?

    • @DNALI
      @DNALI  7 років тому +1

      Julian Diaz benefit wise they will do the same thing. motordyne is metal and the Blox is some sort of plastic.

      DNALI Thanks for the feedback as well as the videos, The Engine Damper installation helped me install mine last friday, and hopefully this video will help me install a blox 5/16 plenum spacer i should get sometime this week for my 04 coupe.

      peter ramirez Maybe you have a leak. Recheck all your bolts are properly hand tighten (till there is resistance and half a turn more). Check all your lines are connected and make sure your maf sensor on your intake is plugged back in. Or maybe you didn't reset the ecu. Disconnect the negative from the battery, pump the brake pedal, reconnect. And drive the car to make sure everything is fine.

    Is this mod compatible with the 2008 G35 sedan? It has the vq35hr with dual intakes.

      No, it won't. Do you people even know how to use Google? How'd you find this video but can't find directions or a forum talking about this exact item? There are tons of them out there for the G. Just type in G35driver or 6mt.net. Have fun reading till your eyes bleed lol.

      Does the hr have dual intakes? If it does, then no. This is for vq35de and the revup. If the other vq engines have a different design then it won't fit.

    You will not yield "gains" without a retune. This is with any bolt on part. You will just run lean with more air than fuel, stock computer can only compensate fuel to a point on its own.

    • @chriswf
      @chriswf 8 років тому +7

      Isn't it a self learning ECU?
      I'd understand if this were a carbureted engine, however it is not. It can adjust air/fuel ratio slightly to allow slight modification.
      That's what O2 sensors do.

    • @Andreallen4
      @Andreallen4 8 років тому +1

      +Chris Foster Yes it is self learning. Alot of the time, folks that can't afford a ECU flash tune will reset the ECU by unplugging the battery overnight, then the computer will learn it's new fuel compensation tables while the car is plugged back up while driving, but the stock ECU can only compensate soo much without adjustment to advance timing and altered fuel targets (Which a tune modifies).

      Can't you just reset it with the gas pedal?

    • @Andreallen4
      @Andreallen4 8 років тому +2

      +Chris Foster um, not to my knowledge. Only thing I'd assume u need to use the gas pedal for is to recalibrate the idle relearn, throttle relearn and acceleration pedal relearn but I'm not 100% sure.

    • @chriswf
      @chriswf 8 років тому +1

      Well, I know it clears a CEL light. I had the cam sensor issue (that many other VQ owners have). And it came back once when I let my oil get kinda dirty. Changed the oil, reset CEL with gas pedal pumps.
      But I don't know if that completely resets the ECU or not.
