Hope you guys had a good Memorial weekend! I've been working hard to put these videos out for you guys so I appreciate you joining in! See you in the next one 👍
How much hp/tq does this spacer give you and how does it do that
I installed it and there was a big difference I love it!!
I haven't decided whether I am going to buy the Plenum spacer yet, but your video skills, audio and everything is just perfect. I watched the whole video without getting bored, and you formatted every detail and just did a great job presenting the video entirely. Great job! Keep making videos.
my Z1 motorsports spacer came today, it’s my first mod on my 2003 G35. i bought it with some things done to it. can’t wait this video will help a lot. thanks eric
Glad to help out thank you for watching!
Thank you mate! The Z1 spacer came without instructions so I used your video to know about screws and washers.
I felt little more torque. Will pass it on dyno one day
Glad the video helped out bro! Thanks for the support and happy to hear your but dyno works lol
So glad I decided to randomly look for this. Just a few years ago the best vid for plenum was like some video filmed at night in someone's garage. This is the best video on UA-cam for this job thanks man
Thank you!
Wouldn't quite call it the "best". Good tutorial videos skip the intro & filler BS and immediately start at step 1. The instructions in this video are clear, but you still have to skip practically the first two minutes to get to the useful part. 5/10
Yes! Been waiting for your video about this topic. Thanks man!
thank you for watching 👍
The angled spacer makes the system level my dude🙌🏼
That’s what he said
Finally you back on the G
I've been slacking it's time to get to business 👍
ERICSDIYGARAGE i wonder what’s nexts?
next is the paint 👍
Good shit !
🤛
Thank you.
thanks for this how to
thanks for watching I appreciate it
Yeeeesss gonna buy one as soon as my pay check comes in
z1 normally gives discounts so just keep an eye for any post for the best pricing 👍
Highly recommend against using an impact on your plenum you can easily strip the bolt holes
Never has happened to me but for someone who is inexperienced I can see how that can happen
U need to get 5/16 for the Z if u wanna keep the strut bar on
picked up a bit of knowledge from this vlog
thank you glad you found it useful 🙏
Always enjoy your content when you drop
thanks you, that is awesome feedback 😭
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE imma let you know every time
Now you should do a cooling bypass
The lower plenum gasket you replaced as well, is it the same Nissan part number for the gasket that’s included with the spacer?
Do you buy any other gaskets? Like the lower to middle plenum gasket or the upper plenum gasket? Or do you just use the one that is supplied?
Did anyone change ignition coils and one of bolts just snapped on them 😢
Hi Eric great vid. Do you need a transmission mount? I make reinforced stock rubber mounts with rubber urethane, it takes away some of the slack in the drivetrain. It's an awesome mod, and I'll send you one for way cheaper than the aftermarket poly mounts. Very easy to install too. Let me know :)
I’m interested lol
What is thte hose called in front the throttle body but on the plenum
always thought it would be funny if someone added more than one plenum spacer as a meme.
Longer bolts and send it
Bigger throttle body will make a big difference
I bought a second hand motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer for $30 but it has no hardware do you mybe know all the hardware thats needed to install ? Great video!
thanks man! You can buy the motordyne hardware on the website its like 50 60 bucks
What intake is that?
Hey man, I am about to add the same plenum spacer on my G. Did you have to add any silicone/gasket maker? and also did you torque down any bolts to a certain spec?
I did not add any silicone on my vehicle and it's been running running fine they do provide a gasket for you. As far as the toque specs I believe I did add them in the pictures but it might be hard to see
The instructions require to torque are 44-61 IN. LBS and in a specific order, but by now you probably have already put it on there.
If anyone needs the torque specs they are 44-61 inch lbs. and in a specific order.
I'd you have a rev-up engine it don't make difference without tuned.
Where did you upper plenum gasket? Any part numbers or where I can get it would be much appreciated
Z1 motorsports offers the gasket
what is this upgrade for?
can you run it without ecu remap or is it recommended to have a remap? will it still run smoothly?
You dont need a tune to run this but if you have multiple bolt on its recommend to get a tune for better gains
Quick question. I was installing new valve covers and when removing the upper plenum there were four rubber washers inside the plenum spacer? Are these supposed to be here or were they strut brace spacers and previous owner did install wrong?
Good question the spacers are there because you are creating space inside when you get a plenum spacer. Without those spacers you are potentially going to break your plenum they have to be inside
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE awesome thank you for quick reply! I see they usually come with 6 but mine only had 4 is this okay?
My z1 spacer didn't come with the inside spacers with their kit? Ok to run without?? Thanks Eric!
mine didn't have them either z1 doesn't think it's a issue but it will damage the intake over time
What kinda of strut bar do you use after installing the spacer?
this strut bar is called Alutec
Does this space have any benefits on the 06 model 350z with the Rev up engine?
Yes I believe the Rev ups benefit the most from this modification
@BRAT PACK you need to pair it with the mrev2 lower plenum for it to work
Can somebody clear up something for me. I hve an 04 non revup. Anybody have the spacer and how does it feel? Would you need to upgrade the intake system i.e throttle body/ air intake? Would you also need a tune afterwards ? Thanks in advance!
You will notice a little improvement in acceleration and not you don't need a tune to run this spacer
Does test pipes effect anything if plenum installed?
No it won't effect anything
I notice you dint put any gasket sealer is it nessasery or no to apply the gasket sealer?
No not necessary that's why you have a oem gasket just use that
Did you have to do an idle relearn when you unplug the throttle body and plug it back in?
No as long as your disconnect your battery you should be fine, when you turn on the car it will idle a bit funny but it will adjust itself
I didn't disconnect the battery. Just don't turn the ignition on. No relearn needed. Worked for me
How come you didn't add the nuts back to bolt 12 and 17, they seem too short, but can we just leave those alone??
They wont screw in due to the spacer
What about combining this with the kinetix plenum?
it won't benefit you if anything jt will not run right. the kinetix plenum replaces the spacer if you add both it won't run right
did you ever get a check engine light ?
no
Would this plenum spacer fit on my 2006 Nissan Maxima ?
I have seen that you can install a rwd plenum from a 350z or g35 If you do that it will work look it up on the forums
What the torque spec on those top bolts son #sendit
What about the studs on the lower plenum?
You can leave them
Do you need to buy a different strut bar on a g35 coupe to run this spacer?
G35 coupes don't come with strut bars but I didn't need to change mine
for some reason i had a leak from bolt 2 , do the bottom 3 bolts need washers?
hey did you ever figure it out?
@@zexcryy forgot tbh g ion got my g no mo
I only lifted the plenum halfway without taking the hoses off. It worked out well. However, maneuvering it around a little bit while putting it back together was a pain. I reused my old gasket. It was in good shape. Good vid however.
How much of a noticeable difference does this make? I’m thinking about doing it but not sure how much it’ll improve it and I’m afraid of messing it up too lol
it make a small difference without a tune if you tune it you'll notice better results
Hey whats up man, I bought a z1 plenum spacer went ahead and installed it but after doing some pulls I hear a really loud noise when reaching 5-6k rpms. I don't know what it is... I don't think it's a vacuum leak because when I rev it it all sounds perfect or there's no other sounds coming from the engine when idling. It only does it on pulls and sounds like a loud rasp.
If you know what it is please let me know thanks!
@@yaeldelatorre6190 did you make sure all the bolt where tight, sounds like something might be loose. did you install anything else like test pipes
ERICSDIYGARAGE yea I took it to a shop to make sure and they were all good and no I am fully stock . That was the only mod I did. It kinda sounds like a rattle at high revs
that's strange only thing I can think of is that maybe the vehicle is not running right after the install, give it time to clear its adaptations
ERICSDIYGARAGE would test pipes make that loud raspy sound ?
Just so you know, the 05-07 Rev Up motors dont get affected much with a plenum spacer. You need to install a MREV2 lower plenum WITH the spacer to get a difference.
You actually do get more torque
On my VQ35DE it made a huge difference
for sure
On the rev up 300hp, it dosnt make a difference ?
Don't spend near 800 dollars for the mrev2. Just get the lower plenum from the 03 04 non rev up and you get the same results. And if it bothers some of you that much, get it ported out by a friend to match the mrev2. Don't spend ridiculous money for a 30 dollar lower plenum. So if you got a rev up, match up the plenum spacer and the old lower plenum and you'll notice the difference.
This guy's knows
Did you have to add antifreeze and burp the system?
No the coolant you may lose is very minimal and burping the system was not required for my car
What’s up bruh lol
i installed my spacer today and i noticed it idles funny. sometimes it almost goes to 0 rpms like it’s gonna die, then it goes back up. just curious if i should be concerned, or if it is a normal thing that my car is idling weird and the computer in the car has to adjust to it? please LET ME KNOW!
has the issue gone away sometimes the vehicle need to relearn idle
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE eh it’s gotten a little better but when i come to a stop and slow down my car kinda tugs me around
How long did the install take?
like 20 minutes or so
Do I need a tune for this or is it ok stock
it's not required to drive but if you want the best results than yes
How many hours power you gained also if i did double spacers i get more power ✌️
no double spacer will make your car run rough its only one spacer that's needed
Does the 07 g35x vq35hr motor have the ability for one?
unfortunately no since it's a different intake manifold. but you can get your intake manifold bored out to allow more air inside your engine.
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I can't seem to find allot of videos on my car.. And every time I order parts they send me the wrong ones.. So aggravating..I even have my Vin to AutoZone one time and they thought my car was a g37.. very confused
I'm sure its because its awd that they confuse everything sorry if you have a hard time finding info on your vehicle
I have the same exact problem with mine. I can’t find the right radio harness for my 2007 g35. I don’t even know If it’s a sport, base or any of the other types. Crazy thing about the sport and other things. They all show up as the same engine and almost everything.
do you still have it on and how has it treated you ?
So far everything it working great I noticed a improvement in the top end but I believe to get the most out of this mod you will have to get it tuned
ERICSDIYGARAGE Alright man thanks for the update, stay safe !
bro one of the screws on the plenum isn’t screening in what do i do?
It should screw in make sure that you start every bolt in by hand. If you have one fastened down all the way the plenum won't be properly seated and you can run into the issue your having. But it can also be that your over torque the fastener and damage the threads
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE if i did damage the tread how do i go about that
you think i can video call you & show you the problem? cuz i’m probably not explaining it right
This was 2 years ago but did u have to get it tuned ?
No it's not needed
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE okay thank u
Will this spacer fit on the 2005 nissna altima 3.5se
No but id you install the upper and lower plenum it will look it up but its requires modification
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE can you direct me to what I can buy
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE also what kind of modificayion
My z1 plenum spacer didn’t come with a gasket
At first I didn't think mine came with one as well but it I found it underneath the foam that they use to securely hold the spacer when shipping
ERICSDIYGARAGE lmfao i just check that your right 😂 thanks a lot!!!!
haha that's funny man I'm glad you found it lol 🤯
ERICSDIYGARAGE lmfao! Did you feel any throttle response or any difference?
I noticed more torque but I also recently changed really bad spark plugs so I'm not sure if it's the spacer or the new spark plugs 🤔
what was that at 8:18 on the top left side???
Probably dust in front of the cameras flash
A ghost
is there a big difference from a Z1 plenum spacer to a cheaper one plenum spacer?
In build quality yes
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE big performance difference or no?
How come no torque wrench ?
I am the torque wrench. You're more than welcome to torque the fasteners down torque specs are in the video
How much was the plenum spacer.and I need a link bruh
They run around 298. Just look up plenum spacer for 350z and go to Z1.
All you gotta do is use that brain of yours and google that shit.
I probably sound like an idiot but could you install more than one
you would probably loose air speed and in return loose power
Anyone get code P0345 thrown because of this install?
My #9 bolt is not threading in.
the one next too the throttle body. It just keeps spinning freely inside. the threads are not stripped I may have the wrong bolt but I read that the top three bolts #1 ,3 and 6 are the same as #9 but the z1 kit only supplied those three bolts for #1,3,6. So you resuse the oem bolt on 9?
@@willhawkins284 yes you reuse number 9. I think this upper 3 center bolts will fit in number 9
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE yea its not threading in
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I went to home depot and got a bolt. m6x75mm. it works and my 190k revup sedan is pulling like no other w my intake and exhaust setup. and she doesnt burn much oil.
@@willhawkins284You just saved me from taking it out completely, got a 6x70mm fixed #9 right up running good 04 DE
Anybody else stuck with the i35😅
Your air hose was unplugged
Do you haveva time stamp
Could have used some better tips on how to actually do everything you said to do and closer ups if specific lines and hoses didn’t mention all the bolts to take off air filter not a bad tutorial just missed some things that would have made it a lot easy for someone who has 0 mechanical knowledge or skil and is trying to learn and do this
I appreciate your feedback I included diagrams of the bolt locations and aside from having the camera in my face this is as best as it's going to get. It's really not that difficult but I can see someone without no mechanical knowledge struggle but this is also have you learn by figuring things out as you go
My shit running like ass after installing this lol. If anyone wants it hmu tossing this shit out
You got a thick one.. more top end power… better off with a 5/16
It's a angled plenum spacer
