Pete nice to see you on a mud machine I couldn’t believe my eyes at first. But to answer your question and low or high. You’re supposed to use low when going thru mud and water it offers a noticeable difference when going thru due to lower gearing. I was always told when mudding in high gear you could easily burn up your belt. Good video much love for you.
Glad you had fun. Nice to see you out of your zone a little bit and keeping an open mind with 4x4. You did great man. 9:04 my best advice to you though is if it’s not just water, hit it hard. I know it looks impossible but I promise if you hit that hole hard enough you’ll blast through it. You may be covered in mud along with everyone around you tho so be prepared lol. But above all, have fun. Nothing matters if you aren’t having fun.
Glad to see you continue to branch out. People seem to miss that these 4x4 and sxs completely crippled the sport quad segment. Nice to see why some people gravitate that way. These machine are not just work horses or farm machines. May not be as fast around a track or trail but I can ride my 850 all day and I'm not feeling it in the morning like my sport quad.
It’s definitely a different style of riding but I’m down to try anything with handlebars. I’d love to get on a dirtbike eventually too. I think it’s pretty cool that manufacturers offer purpose made stuff like this. If only the sport quad market was strong enough to offer new machines.. maybe someday! 🤞
Oh man, that was great. Lol you really got the whole experience 1st time out. Must have spent a at quarters at the do it yourself wash lol keep em coming buddy.
It was like 3-4 wash cycles at the public wash just to get the heavy stuff out. The wheel wells are so small with those giant tires. It’s actually a total pain to clean 🤪 I was super glad I went up for that ride, it was fun to drive that thing in the water for sure
You prob won’t believe this but I had a 2007 raptor limited edition and I use to ride mud holes and trails just like that on it Never got stuck once either mud and water everywhere but never got stuck I could always rock it out Was riding on itp holeshots at the time
First video of yours I watched since I'm looking at this exact model machine, I too and a 2wd guy I'm a sucker for things that are hard to find parts for aka DS650
That blue and grey color way looks really good on that tank! The wheels are crazy too, not my type of riding ect but appreciate the machine and what it's capable of.
Part of the high lifter package is that’s all supposed to be sealed so I’m just gonna send it and hope for the best! Now that we’re going into winter this thing may only see the snow and no more mud unless I head south for a trip
It was about 50 degrees that day. The waders definitely helped but it kept me from being more daring since I didn’t want to get wet and be cold all day 😅 the whole mudding thing is definitely more practical during the warmer months 😬
Always 4x4 low when mudding my man. You will burn your belts very quickly in high. You can make your ride a little more comfortable by dropping your tire pressures down to around 6psi as well. Happy riding.
The beginning of this was on private land. Unfortunately they had told me to keep the location out of the content so the public doesn't ride in. The 2nd half of this was at Spider lake
Where's day 2 of little Sahara?? I don't have social media so idk if you spoke on it but just wondering. Was interested to see how that ride turned out.
I’m working on it now. The last few weeks have been pretty busy so I’m a little behind. I like to space out the dune content so they’re not one after another because it gets kinda old watching the same thing. Thanks for checking out the sportsman video 🤘
When you said the front end drops that's a big difference from a Can-Am the front end is weigh heavy on a Polaris from what I understand and that type of four wheeler setup is not even meant for trail riding it's meant for underwater mud bogging serious mud I used to have the Honda 400 TRX I haven't ridden in a while though I got ran over on my WR
I have a 360 Max. I'm still learning how I like to use it. If I do another ride like this I'm going to get a longer pole so the cropping and perspective is more linear. I considered the insta360 but went with GoPro since I'm familiar with their interface. Both cameras look to be pretty competitive with each other 👍
Unfortunately I ended up giving it back to Polaris. Getting a mud focused demo unit right before winter in Minnesota wasn’t the best timing. I had a ton of fun on this ride with it but overall I’m more into the sport ATV’s 😅👍
Yeah I left another comment it's exactly like you said you got to be riding in the water and the mud deep to enjoy this bike that's what it's meant for 400 450 700 Raptor yeah that's the way to go for the trail ride and the dunes
336 mafia and Braydon price and Kyle someone I think they do a lot of riding like this and making videos they all ride the 1000 Can-Ams but they don't tend to like the Polaris but the Can-Ams are always burning belts unless they came up with some new to stop that from happening you got to kind of ride the four-wheeler like a truck that you would be driving through there if you are driving in too high and get stuck you can just put it in for low and usually back out and restart and that's what I mean driving it like a four wheel drive truck but you'll learn how to skim it send in it you'll learn when to crawl it you'll learn to float your front end and extreme left or right camber rides like you were talking about using your handle grip that's just a little bit of my two cents that you were asking about I was trying to answer a little bit

That start edit of the drive was legit

Great job for your first in the mud Pete pro tip low range is your friend in deep mud and push off the banks when your in a deep hole !

@@PeteHager well you did a pretty good job it looked very clean when you were done! Lol
Man, that intro was magic
Great video man. Hilarious to see you waist deep in a water hole. I was hoping to see Chad go off roading with the renegade, lol
heyyyy there you go! welcome to the mudd side lol. Those tires are supper hard. You can try to air down to help with bumps.
Hey Pete, I caught your time laps/montage switched to the beat of the music, sick editing man.
You prob won’t believe this but I had a 2007 raptor limited edition and I use to ride mud holes and trails just like that on it
Never got stuck once either mud and water everywhere but never got stuck
I could always rock it out
Was riding on itp holeshots at the time
That was awesome how you went through the big hole without making a terrible splash or throwing mud all over the people
First video of yours I watched since I'm looking at this exact model machine, I too and a 2wd guy I'm a sucker for things that are hard to find parts for aka DS650

if its anything like the Scrambler cvt housing, id pull the drain plug!

Go pete 👏 👍👍👍
Beautiful scenery ! Isn't that muddy water cold this time of year in Minnesota?
It was about 50 degrees that day. The waders definitely helped but it kept me from being more daring since I didn’t want to get wet and be cold all day 😅 the whole mudding thing is definitely more practical during the warmer months 😬
@Pete Hager Do you think MX boots are important on a quad or is that less important because your feet always stay inboard
You need a proper mount for the 360
Need both hands for control and hittin some of those holes and climbs out of them
I got a big mount that will fit on the grab bars now! 😬
Cool beans
Next time you’ll have both hands and can let it eat
Always 4x4 low when mudding my man. You will burn your belts very quickly in high. You can make your ride a little more comfortable by dropping your tire pressures down to around 6psi as well. Happy riding.
Awesome to hear! Thanks for the tips! 😁
Water wheelie first time I heard that and that's yeah exactly what it is pretty good description I love it
Always low for the mud could burn up the belt in high!
Definitely a different type of riding than I’m used to seeing from you lol seems like you had fun though
It’s definitely fun to ride in the mud on someone else’s machine 😂😆
@@PeteHager I imagine cleanup is not very fun though lol 😂
Ya this my kind of ridin
Trails and mud
That's one quiet unit! Need help with that?
You throw an aftermarket exhaust on there it’ll change everything they usually sound really good
I got the exhaust in the box ready to go! 😏
I can’t wait to hear it!
Def do a video installing
What spider lake are you riding at also is it a trail system or private land
The beginning of this was on private land. Unfortunately they had told me to keep the location out of the content so the public doesn't ride in. The 2nd half of this was at Spider lake

You can upgrade the tires in the suspension and the lift and make it way more badass and put a snorkel system on them
It has snorkels already
I might have missed if you said but did you get your raptor straightened out bro?
I want to see a ride review and ur opinion on a kfx700
When you said the front end drops that's a big difference from a Can-Am the front end is weigh heavy on a Polaris from what I understand and that type of four wheeler setup is not even meant for trail riding it's meant for underwater mud bogging serious mud I used to have the Honda 400 TRX I haven't ridden in a while though I got ran over on my WR
Chads Renny looks wide!
Yeah he has the spacers on it. It would be wild if can am decided to make a 55inch wide model to go against the scrambler S!
I looked it down the reliability stuff scares me on them I'll probably end up with another Honda Foreman no problems out of that four-wheeler at all
Are you using the insta 360?
I have a 360 Max. I'm still learning how I like to use it. If I do another ride like this I'm going to get a longer pole so the cropping and perspective is more linear. @@PeteHager ok. I was just wondering bcuz i just bought the same one u had. Havent had a chance to really ride it or experience it. Was just wondering
@@blocklife4853they are amazing. Super fun. Lol . How are you loving it ?
I have a quad myself but I have never pushed it this hard
Lol you gotta hit them with some speed
Crawling in slow is a good way to get stuck
I wanted to hit them faster as I got more comfortable. I was just being a pansy because I didn’t want to get wet and be cold 😆
Lmao
That’s the fun bro
Get dirty!
how much for this beast

Always low in mud
I do 4hi if the machine has the power
Going through thick, deep in hi will burn the belt always low gear when riding in deep mud
#savesportquads
i'd keep the exhaust stock if its gonna be submerged in mud puddles!
I have the exhaust in the RJWC box tho 😆
letter rip!!
@@PeteHager
i hate the mud and water, stinks like shit! but love watching the content regardless!!
If you ride under 30-40 kmh... always on low
Thick mud go low not thick go high or if you are going through slow go low but if fast go high
Thanks for the tips 👍
Hit it in high gear
Low gear is only for towing as far as I kno

First
But I'm pretty sure that everybody likes the Can-Ams better
A Highlifter XP will hang with an XMR any day, so doubtful.
