Those grab bars on your handlebars were originally big on snowmobiles. The bar allowed you to sideways on mountains because you could throw your machine over. Eventually they also introduced the “finger throttle which is a second throttle that mounts under your left handle and allows you to lean far far left using your left hand to operate the throttle and the right hand to hold onto the bar. Ill see if i can find the kit I’m talking about and send it to ya on FB.

I ride a can am outty XMR 1000r. It’s been overall a pretty fun ride. Had it’s fair share of issues though. Some poor heat shielding from factory and a blown rear diff have been the main issues so far. Had it for two years though and ride it pretty hard so can’t complain I guess. The highlifter like yours was definitely a contender when I made the purchase! Don’t regret my decision though. Nice bike!

    • @OleNasty79

When people ask which one to choose I always say you'll blow the front diff on the Polaris or the rear diff on the Can Am, lol. Both great bikes though.

Man awesome review! Clean and cut. I BIG TIME agree with the no temp option on the speedometer and DEFINITELY them still coming out with the highlifter platform on the old style Sportsman. Like c’mon mayne. 2009 was 11 years ago. Upgrade the body style for the highlifter, add the rectangle digital speedometer with temp reading instead of the needle gauge and by God throw some highlifter love on the Scrambler line!!! Thanks for the content, love the videos!!! Oh and btw. 2013 Polaris Sportsman 800, 2” lift, 1.5” spacers, outlaw 2s, radiator relocate, light whips and a kickass igloo holding some cold beer!

Great review! I've always liked the Sportsman ATVs. The HL edition 1k is badass for sure! I miss my 2009 Brute Force 750 it was lifted and snorkeled. I have a 2014 Teryx 800 now. It's a tank and reliable as hell but you are right! You will have more fun on an ATV than UTV! Nothing like water wheelies and the freedom of more trail opportunities and just being able to throw it in the back of your truck and head out! I've been waiting to get the new Kawi KRX but going back to the ATV life is tempting! See ya on the trails!

Yes I wish Polaris would make a longer wheel base Highlifter 1000 or 850 and that they also make a EPS 850 Highlifter . I would go trade my Sportsman XP 1000 for a long wheel base 1000 Highlifter or a long wheel base 850 if it had EPS has well.

I have a Can Am Renegade XMR1000 and hate it. It runs hot AF, steering is shit and ride sucks. I got a Polaris Scrambler 1000 for the wife and I love that thing. Having 2 Polaris and this Renegade I can say I love the look of the Can Ams but am definitely going back to Polaris. I'm just waiting for them to freshen up the HL body.
