Greek and Roman Militant style combat is by far my favorite pieces of militant combat, and this sword particular I love!. I can't wait to have enough money to buy myself one of these pieces of kit. I'd definitely go for the full size one. Looks great!
General questions- what hardness is it tempered to? Can you do a flex test? Did the maker tell you anything about the construction method? Specific questions- Is the blade thicker in the 'neck' than in the 'leaf'? What is the profile of the tang inside the handle (the part you can't see)- is it a straight lathed stick for that last inch or so, or does it taper down to the peen? Thanks very much!
Hi,I just ordered the short Xiphos but I did it before I watched your video presentation. Your presentation on the design, the durability and it's construction was impressive and informative. I enjoyed it very much!
Just got my full sized Xiphos in the mail today! Really nice looking and feeling sword. Only real qualm I have is the sharp edged around the guard, not a problem if you are using gloves, but I took the time to file them down. Now it is super comfortable in the hand w/o needing a glove.
Very nice review. Something I would like to see would be a comparative review of the different Shaskas you guys now carry - I'm especially curious about the new Depeeka one - being it's the only one that looks to really represent the earlier, Cossack/Crimean/Cuacasian mountain styles, rather than the later military issue, standardized models.
I say this from the bottom of my heart: You look like an absolute dancing fairy, tiptoeing thru the tulips with your magic dong. Move to San Francisco and start an interior design firm.
hey, i was wondering something about devils edge. i havnt been able to find much information about the manufacturer other than what can be found on kult of athena but i was wondering whether they come from the Karachi/gulshan-e-hadeed area of pakistan? Just wondering! PS: got my Xiphos in the mail the other day. a beautiful thing, im impressed.
Might be the wrong place to ask, but, on the bone-hilt 13" Xiphos, is there any coating on the hilt like polyurethane to seal it? I was thinking I might try to dye the bone and make the sword a bit more custom to me. Thanks for any info.
Hey, Kult of Athena! The Devil's Edge -forge swords seem to be performing rather well. Hopefully it applies to the ak003 Kindjal too. I ordered it two days ago! :)
The site now says it comes with a leather scabbard not wood. I'm assuming that is the current status? Any chance the wood scabbard could be made available as an option or separate purchase?
hey kult of athena. i saw the greek xyphos and immediatly fell in love with it. i been looking for a sword for me for 2 decades. my 40th birthday is tomorrow and i will buy it whenever i can. any idea when it will come back into selling and how easy it will be to send to germany where i live? thanks for bringing me this awesome sword (in advance)!
Yep but it always has to be English-ised because English doesn't like ks sounds at the beginnings of words. In fact, I'm the only person I know who pronounces words like tsunami or Xerxes with those sounds at the beginnings.
+Kult of Athena That Kali training shows in sword work your doing in the beginning of the video, I was wondering why you were using a xiphos like that.
i wish a european store will get some of those cause you need a weapon licence in greece to order from america and i cant afford it...its the first time of my life that i see some 100% historically accurate greek swords rather than deepeeka brass things.....
+the scarecrow We went with a blade that was very historically accurate while keeping it strong and a great price. Hope you can work something out to get one !
It's sad to see skals video on this because even the second "harder" one takes a bend from his hands. I would love to buy one of these but no way until these can pass British proof test.
Kult of Athena - He isn't holding it correctly to begin with. The pommel is supposed to be rested into the groove of the palm, with the thumb resting firmly along the hilt, upwards into the guard, with the index finger opposite in a pinching grip. You'll injure your wrist and shoulder holding it canted at 90° like that. There's no cross guard because it's meant to be used in single combat as a last resort once the formation was compromised. You don't swing it around the shield. You use it to cover your sword hand, by thrusting your shield into the the inside of your opponent's sword or spear arm, momentarily pinning it to the outside of your own defenses unable to bring their weapon forward to retaliate, while you have a clear path through the inside of their guard. It's about timing, positioning, distance, and economy of both motion and effort. Try holding and using one this way if you haven't already, and you're entire perspective on Historical European Martial Arts will change forever for the better.
I hate these Viking cast wannabe and you call that a sword and even worse you handle it like a school girl especially with pink top with breasts. By the way stop chopping the trees I doubt their yours and would love it if my favourite woods keeper come to you Jason Voorhees and showed you how to use a real chopper.
Athenean, "Excuse me Mr Spartan warrior, but why is your sword so short?" Spartan, "Its long enough to reach your heart". End of conversation.
He looks like he is dancing like drake in hotline bling

is there a way to ensure that I get the wooden scabbard when I order the long one?? :O I like the look of it... not liking the leather one :/
Hi,I just ordered the short Xiphos but I did it before I watched your video presentation. Your presentation on the design, the durability and it's construction was impressive and informative. I enjoyed it very much!
Thank you Carl !
I love the short xiphos. "Sting is my name, I am the spider's bane."

Awesome thanks for checking out the review hope you enjoy your blade!
3:18 duuuude your chilling face here, you look like a man happy with his new toy haha!
"Daaaaium!"
Their tempering isn't constant on every sword and the blade is a little thin

Some of them "bite" a little bit however I'm glad to hear you customized it for yourself ! Thanks for checking out the video

Thanks for the suggestion will have to get to some reviews and cut test with those
Thanks for info and the demo
Could you do a review of a khopesh? Pleeeasee😁😁😁
Thank you, Tom. Great blade here. Both models here are terrific. Sharp to o.
Thanks bro ! Let me know if you have any questions

Epic blades, epic reviewer. You remind me of Bjorn Ironside from History Channel's Vikings.
+Buddymanna thanks very much !
I can't wait to buy one of these.
Both Xiphos blades on my list, won't be long before I purchase them both and ad them to my collection.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed the review and blades !
+Kult of Athena
Purchased many items from your site over the years.

Hello from Greece!!!
Good to know! I'm making a D&D addon for their new Greek style setting, and using as much historically accurate equipment as possible.
the 19 inch one reminds me of Sting.
Is the scabbard wood? It on your website it comes with a leather one, but the ones you have and the ones Skall had were wood.

First video I've seen on this channel, and the first thing I thought was "Oh shit! It's Ragnar the Viking!"
Hey, Kult of Athena!
The Devil's Edge -forge swords seem to be performing rather well. Hopefully it applies to the ak003 Kindjal too. I ordered it two days ago! :)
Thanks for your support ! We enjoy it and hope you will too !
Lovely blades
Thanks for the video. In 2 days I'll have an opportunity to test my own.
+Steve Hughes Fantastic Steve ! Which one did you choose ?
The longer 19 in blade with wooden grip. Looks like either choice is a good one.
+Steve Hughes Fantastic ! thanks very much we're excited to be bringing reviews to you
Ragnar Lothbrok?
Where's Lagartha?
The site now says it comes with a leather scabbard not wood. I'm assuming that is the current status? Any chance the wood scabbard could be made available as an option or separate purchase?
I’m kinda bummed that these don’t come with wooden scabbards anymore.
Is it a nice sword tho?
I'd personally rather have a leather one.
So.... why did they change the wooden scabbard to the plain leather one?
Nice, I like.
I just got the 19 inch one. I never got the wooden scabbard
Is there a way to order the short sword with the wood handle?
So tempted to buy the shorter version but not sure. Ive seen some bad reviews of this company too.
awesome swords
1095? your kult of athena website states 1070. was this changed and if not which one is it? how flexable are these? are they heat treated?
Где ти узял ети меси ? Зделал или гдето заказал? Я хочу себе такойже
Shorter version will be good for a shtf time.
Do you guys have a double ring solution for the Scabbard so it can be carried via a Baldric?
Not for this run of the blades, they will have a different scabbard not sure on the baldric yet
How did you figure out they were stainless steel? Reviews?
Both real deadly.
beautiful blades. I just ordered a devil edge qama sword. Cant wait to see it.
When are these going to be available again? Specifically the longer version...?
You'll need to contact customer service. Only have the shorter version available

How long will this take to be shipped to my house on average?
For athenaaaaa!!!
AAAAARES!!!
🦉⚔
is it a solid sword?
So is Kult Of Athena legit? Like do they actually ship the orders unlike some other companies I've tried?
Could make a vid about the russian shashka
Where are they made??
What kind of steel?
How much are they?
In Greek... It's pronounced ksifos
Yep but it always has to be English-ised because English doesn't like ks sounds at the beginnings of words. In fact, I'm the only person I know who pronounces words like tsunami or Xerxes with those sounds at the beginnings.
Hi Nik, thanks for letting me know !
Actually is ξίφος
Yea but did you know the so called spear of destiny was created from this and 2 other weapons ! .
so in other words Xiphos? thats how you pronounce Xiphos... a ks like sound. ever heard of a xylophone?
Greek Xiphos back in stock 18'' and 13'' blades click here

You have good technique sir, what art do you practice? In re the blades themselves, much like the Smatchet, you can beat a leaf blade for chopping.
Thanks very much, I have been training Kali (Filipino martial arts) for seven years !
+Kult of Athena
That Kali training shows in sword work your doing in the beginning of the video, I was wondering why you were using a xiphos like that.
+Eric Moore what's really great about Kali is the adaptability from weapon to weapon. Thanks for checking it out Eric
wood scaber?
4:18 The look on his face says only one thing ... '''it will keel''.
any idea when it will be back in stock please ?
It is now. Has been for a while now
A sure test of a sword's quality is if a man with a bun can dance with it in the woods.
JUST CUT SHIT WITH IT ALREADY, MICHAEL FLATLEY.

Does the xiphos have a flat or hollow grind?
Looks like a hollow
I want it in bronze!
bro that would be sick
No more wood Scabbard apparently
Is that kali moves you're using?
Yes, I have been training Kali for 7 years. -Tom KOA

True...but if you read accounts from the ancient Greeks they had trouble with swords bending too. So I guess you could say is horribly accurate? lol
Just to point out: Now being made of stainless steel instead....
is it possible to get a long one with a bone hilt?
We do not currently have that available but that's a good idea. The bone handles is really cool

do you guys have military discount?
Omg you are so cute!
Athens was not a cult
it was a democracy
In Greek it is pronounced Ksifos
thank you for the information on correct pronunciation, I appreciate it.
no shield? you are dead
His sunglasses are annoying
