Ian, I agree with all your points re: the XT-2. I just bought the XT-2 new for $799 (B&H). I usually wait 2 update cycles when prices are generally cut in half from MSR. It is the cost of a used 2 year old camera for a new one. Great video as usual.

Completely agree, I'm loving my xt2, had it just under a year, and would look at the 4 as an upgrade.
I've printed 18" prints from a 10mp camera and it's spot on. There's always a race in the camera world, from going from compact to dslr, to digital, to the greatest number of megapixels to apsc vs ff.
My phone has more mp than the camera I printed from but it wouldn't take the same size print.

Regardless of what people might say the Fuji X-T1 is still an amazing camera in 2019 and it will be so in 2020 also. So the X-T2 will have no problems delivering amazing results in the future. I own a Fuji X-T20 and an X-T1 and i can honestly say that i could use them without any kind of problems in the next years. Only reason why i might upgrade at some point is if i am being struck by GAS.

I brought a used X-T2 in mint condition last year, it came with the 18-55mm f2.8 - 4 lens, and as a bonus, the guy who sold it to me gave me a 56mm F 1.2 too, all for $800! The camera and the glass mentioned are just fantastic, best buy ever!

Iam only a hobbyist but I really love photography! I use the xt2 too together with 50-140, 16 1,4 and 18-55. Its really easy to think that getting a fullframe will improve my photography but I know it won't :) but it's nice for us or me to see that a real photographer use this system and see what it can do! I really like the lenses for Fuji and I have tried a lot of them, super quality and well made but they are not cheap even second hand. But you get what you pay for. I really wish you make a review for the lenses you use the 50-140 and the 10-24. Can't wait for your next film! Best regards Johan

Good video thanks Ian. 40 years ago I started out my photography with a Pentax K1000 SLR. Unfortunately 2 years ago I was ill and it made me want to upgrade my photography gear !...I,m not a fan of plastic cameras or lengthy deep menu systems. After months of research out popped the Fuji XT2 !...it sure does feel like an old Pentax K1000 in the hand....which brought me straight back to how I loved that camera I started with all those years ago....just makes me smile again and you want to pick it up when you look at it....with amazing quality results

A very positive review for the XT2 Ian and your extensive professional use of them is proof of their quality. 24MP on my Nikon Z6 is ample and being full frame it offers incredible low light performance too. I use a D500 Nikon crop body for my action and sport shooting and although only 21MP it's superb. If I didn't have my Nikon gear I would be using Fuji that's a fact.

Excellent video, Ian! I have the XT-2 and really love it. I am getting into doing prints now and am finding a challenge not with camera but with printing. It’s the 3:2 ratio I have a challenge with. All frames and mats are based on full frame sensor size so I always have to crop. How do you deal with and handle printing on cropped sensor? Tips? You almost have to setup the shot in camera differently to allow for that 3:2 ratio to print right. One edge is longer than standard sizes of frames. Thanks in advance for the help.

The big plus is that they have IBIS and 50 or more MP. Also, I could see owners of these cameras keeping them much longer than the XT series cameras.

I just bought in july 2019 an X-T2 + 18-55 brand new for 1066$us + taxes at a dealer, for travelling. What I don't like in the X-T2 is the size of all the buttons. Wearing glasses is a problem. I strongly prefer the handling of all my Nikons , specially my D800. I think Nikon just showed Fuji how to make a good grip such as on their new entry level Z50 mirrorless. I have rented a Fuji 50-140, and I have to say its a great glass but expensive near 2K $ us and heavy too. My Fuji 18-55 have a lot of chromatic aberations at 18 mm specially when shooting in backlighting tree foliage compared to the Nikon 24-120 F2.8 at 24 mm. I will keep the Fuji for travelling, and yes they make much better APS-C glasses than Nikon. I have to mention that I am not a fanboy of any brand. I strongly think that cameras are only tools and none make you a better or worse photographer. When you started investing in glasses, it is very difficult to change brand, without loosing a lot of $$$.
    Have a nice day

Thanks for this video, Ian. I´ve gone to Fuji x-t2´s from Canon 5d III´s and have been happy. One thing I will say, though, is the AF, especially with the lovely "older" lenses (23mm f1,4, 35mm f1,4 and 56mm f1,2) and in darker conditions isn´t that great. I can live with it but it´s not great. You have both the x-t2 and the x-t3...is the x-t3 so much better in this regard? I mainly shoot weddings and families profesionally. Have been considering upgrading to x-t3´s but I´m not sure it´s worth it. What do you think? Are you not upgrading for 2020? Thanks for your time.

Yeah Pal love the Fujifilm system got me loving photography again. I find the XT3 a bit annoying I can’t be doing with the touch screen that drives me mad. Had to switch it off I hate touch screens on cameras not needed in my opinion. I only use the XT3 with the 100-400 on other than that it’s the XT2. I used to shoot RAW files back in my canon days but since I got into the fujifilm system fully I never bother with RAW now. Prefer the JPEG’s and no messing about with files in programs. Just get it right in camera and I’m done. Might have to do a little bit of highlights and shadow on the jpeg but that’s it.

seriously looking at switching to the xt2 or 1 as i was going to upgrade to a 5DMk3 next year but that's as far as I could ever go.
I do like the look of the xt2 and xt1 image-wise and the dual, card slots are as you say a no brainer I'm still on a 1 slot camera with fingers crossed!!
i can pick up a good second-hand bargain from MPB and the L glass I have would go towards paying for that
thing is I'm just that little bit reticent to switch to a system I've never used and it would be a big step for me to take
what about glass what about low light performance battery life etc . . I would love to hear your thoughts

      @ian_worth  4 роки тому

Hey Michael, Yeah it's a big step, i'm not sure the x-t1 would be good enough autofocus wise for weddings, the xt2 copes well enough for sure. If i'm just shooting stills i probably only use a couple of batteries during the day. I think they cope well with low light especially if you can pick up a couple of the fast primes, i use the 23mm f1.4 and the 35 mm f2 a lot and they work well for my style of shooting. If you can afford it, it might be wise to purchase an xt2 but keep your 5d until you are completely sure it will work for you. That's what I did when i switched. 👍

I made the move from FF Nikon to Fuji XT2 but then back again. The fuji is great image wise and glass is indeed great but I need reliability and the battery issues and body freezing just were too much. So back to Nikon DSLRs, no regrets at all, never let me down and always have a few shots in the tank even with a low battery. Once you go back, oddly, the size/weight thing isnt a big of a deal as first thought. A D810 for example with a 50mm lens isnt a big or heavy camera at all really and if those grams affect you so much then maybe its the doc you need not a different camera.

Since the firmware updates I haven't had any freeze ups for a year or so now. Agree about the battery life though 👍👍

A higher number of megapixels doesn't always mean it's better. When the resolution of APS-C sensors becomes larger and larger, the size of the pixels themselves will shrink and this is not always desirable. You get the 'grainy' effect you have on smartphone and it's less suitable for certain types of photography such as action and wildlife.

For instance if the xpro4 comes out with the stacked 26mp sensor found in the xh2s and the ibis system from the xs10 I would upgrade from my xs10 in a minute as I love shooting handheld in low light very often. After renting the xh2s over the holiday that sensor with ibis lets me get near full frame hand hold shooting capability in low light in a body that fits my carry the camera everywhere shooting style. If no compact carry everywhere camera comes out with a stacked ibis sensor then my xs10 will be used until it dies just like my xpro1 was used until it died.
