I got Tui one of those fancy cozy corner, she hated it and tore it to shreds, so i removed what was left of it. Tui is picky about what is put in her cage. If she doesn't like the treat or food, she will throw it at me. And if I don't cut her fruit just right, she will throw it to the floor. And if she wants something, she bang her metal feed bowls by lifting them up and down on the holders. If you want the word for spoiled, look up Tui's name..lol. The vet says she has me trained well
Birb Squad!!! Happy New Year to all of you and thank you for your continuous support whether it was advice or constructive criticism, I appreciate it all. You've helped me grow not only as a channel but as a person as well. Thank you and hope your year is filled with success and happiness 💕🐦
Haha thanks Jonathan spoiled birbs are definitely happy birbs ;) Happy New Years to you and your family as well and hope you have an awesome year ahead of you! Thank you so much on my hair!!! Finally found a purple dye that I think works ;)
my quaker ended up losing a toe due to a fabric covered hut. he had one in the pet store and seemed to love it and he LOVED sleeping in the new one i had gotten him but it cost him his poor toe, ended up being in a cone and on medication for about 4 months. he was still a very happy birdie through it all tho! unfortunately he passed away after only being a year and a half years old, which brings me to my next safety concern. NEVER sleep with your bird in the room and their cage door open. when i first got my quaker, i lived at my dads house with my stepfamily (and also my dad of course), he was luckily very good about sticking to his cage. i was able to sleep with the cage door open every night and i was SO lucky that i never hurt him. however, i moved out a little less than a year after i got him and in that time he learned how to fly and got VERY cheeky and VERY confident. i ended up having to get his wings clipped because i now live with my boyfriend who has cats, and they were very good about him UP UNTIL he started flying, then theyd be VERY interested in him. so for his safety (up until i had hopefully trained the cats well) i clipped his wings. my stepsister was an amazing aunt and missed him dearly and so she asked him if he could spend the night one weekend. i thought it was a great idea so i brought him over one night. she had cleaned up his old cage and set down some paper towels to keep it clean and had even found some old toys to give him, but she slept with the cage door open because i had always done that, and all she knew was that his wings were clipped but had no idea how much his attitude had changed, and i didnt think that shed sleep with the door open and i didnt think to warn her at all. in the middle of the night he climbed out of his cage and joined her in the bed, and she unfortunately smothered him. this is to no fault of her own, how could she have known better? so please take my experience as a lesson. im lucky to have 2 beautiful quakers just to take up the hole he left in my heart (of course i love them both DEARLY and i am trying to give them the best life they can because they are each their own little blessing and source of happiness in my life) and, as much as i love my new babies and im so happy i have them and that i get to give them all my love, i would give anything to have my first quaker back. he did not deserve to pass so early in his life
LOVED this, I bet they're soo happy 😊😊 only thing is, popsicle sticks are great for birds, I have hundreds, any bird safe wood if fine for them to rip apart 💕💕
Thank you!!!! Definitely I just worry over every little thing with them 😅 thank you for your input though so other people see your comment and know it's safe 💕
Lol it was a stretch that's for sure but the bird cage tour actually won the ig poll. Happy new year to you too I appreciate all your kindness to me 😊😊😊
Victoria it is so funny when he talks in "Jake" he says little Jake, my baby, step up, and a few other things in his gruffy little. Voice!! That is how Jake started by mimicking sounds first! Have great day
I am surprised keeping these two in the same cage has worked for you so well! It's really cute how attached to each other they seem. And my bird is obsessed with her tent. She HATES to sleep with nothing because she likes to cuddle and stay warm. But I have also had saftey concerns about it cuz I do know some birds that have chewed theirs up and ran into problems. It sucks that there are so many items out there that aren't good for our birbs
@@nicthegreat9 yea that is very true, which is why I changed it! Lol I don't wanna sound rude she's a good birb momma!!! haha but ur response was totally fine! Didn't sound rude at all! Thanks!!😊
@@taylormclaughlin7131 Thank you it's nice to be able to have a conversation in the comments and it not be mean 😄. Looks like you got your hands full keeping your pens from your green cheek .
I am reviewing your past videos. So glad to see this one on cages. Very reasonable too! I told you not long ago I was planning on getting a Quaker but I was going to wait. Well.. now I found a breeder not far from me with 2 little guys born in May. I am going to look at them Friday afternoon. 😊
This is 8/17/23 & I have watched at least 10 or so videos since I have joined. I have learned so much. I am in the process of getting & making your PVC stands for training & able to move from den to kitchen. I need the receipe for fresh veggies & what is the best container for all of that wet food? TG my bird doesn't sling food, I am handicapped & can't be doing all that cleaning & scrubbing & bending over all day. Any help on the subjects I mentioned would be super. Love your videos❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😊
Hi Victoria! I'm a huge fan of your videos :) I'm getting a GCC soon and am trying to prep for its arrival as best as possible. I'm wondering what you used on the PVC piping to make it easier for the birds to perch on?
We just purchased a green cheek although he won't come home for 3 months. We are getting supplies ready and I was wondering if you still recommend the cage you have. I am trying to decide between a cage with a playtop or one with a dome top. Thanks so much, and I just love your videos!!!
@@VictoriaRyann thats the plan lol. He is old and doesn't care to socialize too often 😔 I adopted him a few years ago and he only will come out of his cage maybe once or twice a week even if it's open all day. Ao i figure he'd enjoy some extra room in his final years.
Have you ever had any trouble with wires and your birds?? I'm looking at getting a bird and was wondering if I have to bird proof all the wires in the house?
You got lucky on the hook..my conure unscrewed the metal hook and it went straight up under his beak he was bleeding I panicked 😱 So I ran him over to the vet and thank God he was okay ..he was put on antibiotic so definitely no metal hooks.
You are so right I definitely got lucky! I can't imagine what the scenario would of been if we weren't home... Thankfully your lil conure was ok as well. Very much so and eye opener for all of us to be super careful with everything we provide for our birds. Hope you and your birdy don't have to go through like that anything again as well!!!
Not yet but you know.... here lately hes been mimicking certain sounds and it almost sounds like hes trying to say certain words. Its so stinking cool! That is so exciting Jake is starting to say phrases!! Bet that caught you off guard the first time you heard them lol
do you cover your bird cage at night? My vet recommends it , When i tried it ,Tui hated it, she tore the cover so she could see outside of her cage. So i just dont use it. I'm afraid she will get fibers in her stomach. Like you I leave my bird out of the cage all the day, and when she wants she can go in to eat or drink water
I didn't use to but now I do. Don't know if you noticed but their is a door beside their cage that we never use. I mainly cover the cage to keep them warm from a little bit of a draft and to keep them in a routine that once they see me cover the cage, it's time for bed. What was your vets reasoning for covering cage just out of curiosity? Your little Tui sounds like a handful the more you tell me stories about her 😂😂😂 sounds like a little Dennis the menace of the parrot world 😂
I am so sorry! Not sure if I forgot or what happened but its all in my description box now. Let me know if there was anything else that I didn't add that you wanted to know about... anyway here is my parrot's cage amzn.to/2SZj9Cl
