- Hey birbs! Lets talk about my green cheek conure Yoshi and things about him I absolutely love :) Yall know I have made a few videos here and there that I have went more in depth of the struggles of having parrots.
This time, I wanted to take a break and brag about how much I love Yoshi my yellow sided green cheek conure. Although he is a lot of work, it is so rewarding and a lot of fun to have him :)
As always, PLEASE research the bird species you are interested in and also the specific bird you find. Not everyone like green cheek conures and they arent suited for everyone. Yoshi fits in well with my family and we all love him ::)

You are so right, My conure gets mad at me after i take her to the vet for her exams, which she hates sooo much. For the whole day she will not talk to me and will turn her back to me. when I bring out her bird carrier, she runs and hides.

But also thank you for being honest in your other videos, I think that is great and not hating on your bird or the species at all as one like myself is looking these things up for research and although sure these parrots are truly life enriching I do want the good ,bad and ugly side of owning one before making that leap. You have 150% described green cheek conures perfectly lol they ARE like little dogs!! My baby kiwi (she unfortunately passed away) always followed me around the house, wanted to sleep with me at night (she did not like that she had to sleep in her cage) ate anything and everything I ate (or tried to). Soon as I came home from work she was so excited. I miss her alot she was an awesome birb. They are amazing birds, but they are alot of work lol they are very loyal, smart, silly and sweet.

@@VictoriaRyann thank you I definitely tried! I called her my ugly little dragon when she would shower with me, she loved "fixing" my fake nails and calling for me if I left the room. I really miss her so much she was the best. Your yoshi is such a cute lil guy and he definitely loves you so much!

Oh wow thank you Sasha!!! This was such a nice compliment to read this morning 😊 but omg yes that is a Hubert Cumberdale shirt and I am completely fangirling over you right now for noticing! Lol. I am obsessed with salad fingers. Funny story though, my husband and I assumed no one would know who that is as well because of it's popularity of the British and not America but boy we were wrong! One day I wore this shirt to the mall near where I live and several people knew who he was! Guess he's more popular than what we all thought lol but thank you again and hope you have a great weekend 😊

You are so right Chickie, that birds in many ways are better then dogs.
1. I had to put down my 15 year old white lab 3 years ago & it just broke my heart. Birds live so much longer then dogs, as to why I just can't go through that again. Birds will out live me now that I'm 56. I chose a God mother & I make sure my birds & my niece stay bonded so my death will be a little easier on them. This is something that ALL bird owners should consider doing, just in case.
2. I love when my birds greet me, are happy to see me & excited to come out; they fly to me for kisses, we share a meal, play together & we even snuggle!!
3. I love that my bird's & I found ways to communicate w/each other. Birds are very smart.
4. I love watching birds bathe themselves, it's so adorable. Birds keep themselves very clean. Bathing my dog's in the past was difficult for me because I've had back surgery & had to pay groomers to handle baths & nail clippings.
5. Birds also help me get more fruit & vegetables into my meals.
6. It's so special & heartwarming to be bonded w/birds.
7. Shedding feathers is easy to clean up, I actually save their feathers. My labs never stopped shedding, it was difficult to keep up with.
Yep! Birds are the way to go, most definitely. ❤❤❤❤❤

My Green Cheeked Frisco is just like yours. He’s a dog trapped in a birds body 😂. He is so playful. Hangs upside down to get your attention. Will sit on my hand when I type on the computer. And he will flip on his back and want to to wrestle with him. He is just so awesome. We are pals.

You're so right my mom and I often describe our green cheek as a feathered dog and sometimes cat, because I swear they exhibit a lot of the same behaviour :D. I often use the nickname monkey for mine because even though we've had her for over 8 years now she still loves climbing and hanging off everything just like she did when we got her as a baby at 7 mo.

I have a Sun Concure her name is Sunny. I had her for about 15 years. Yes she acts like a dog also. I also have 6 lady gouldian finches that drive her crazy. So funny.

My sister has a green cheek that I absolutely feel in love with. After watching some videos I got my own. I’ve had him for about a month and have been trying to spend time bonding with him.
Roo used to bite me before he would step up, but your biting video has been helping me to stop that behavior. Now, he bites me when I set him on his perch and sometimes he’ll rub his beak against my finger like he’s trying to clean it and then bite me. Do they teeth? Any idea why he’s biting me or how to stop it?

Hey Victoria, my green cheek conure is female and we called her Nora, she is almost11 years old. When we feed her veg and fruit she never eats it all in one day. Should I throw it away, or us it OK to leave it in her cage. Am I giving her too much food. Do you have a lot of waste with yohsi. I hope you could guide me ty
Omg! That is so true about the way my husband green cheek is. What can I do when my husband has him on his shoulder and we kiss and she will tries to nip at me 🤨?
My son's gcc will try to bathe in ANY liquid that he sees even if you are in the middle of drinking it. Any food is HIS too. So we are ninjas about eating around him. He has a little plastic golf ball that he loves to fling at people just to see their reaction. He also does not like the word NO because the last time I told him no he chomped me on the nose and dangled for a bit. Then he 'kissed' me on the cheek to say sorry. He loves to hang out with our cockatiels but every so often he likes to try to yank a tail which starts all the squawking from the cockatiels. I think he does that for reaction too. He's so sweet though and will cuddle in the crook of your neck and almost purrs when he's doing it. Got to love our little bipolar green bean.
Was yoshi hand reared or parent raised?
My dusky headed conure can be a little nippy at times, but he's consistently getting better about it. He's ALWAYS excited to see me and come out to play, and he always loves kissing (downright obsessively, TBH). Love that little fella to death....
I've been looking at these guys for a few years, byt I've still not heard them scream in person, I get mixed messages about how loud it is, some people say it's not that loud others say it's very loud... will my neighbours hear it through brick walls? The only thing making me unsure is whether or not I might get noise complaints!
Our gcc 'beeps' but isn't any louder than our cockatiels when they do get in a 'screaming' match. All birbs are different though

Thats a toughy! I'd recommend one over the other depending on your lifestyle. My gcc is definitely more family oriented and quieter. Popples is more of 'my' bird and is very territorial over me and his cage. But Popples is more likely to talk than my gcc. Its all in what you're looking for in a bird and what your current situation is 😊

hey what do you do when he poops everywhere or is he potty trained
Hey girly. Well I've noticed on here that people have different definitions of potty trained but for my birds personally, they have potty stations with a paper towel or newspaper. I have several around the house because I don't want them to ever have to hold it. When we are out in town, Yoshi goes from my shoulder down to my elbow and leans out to poop on the ground. This doesn't work 100% all the time though. They have there accidents on my head and clothes but whatever. I have many animals and a couple kids I'm used to poop by now 😂

My Green Cheeked Conure looks look's Yoshi but she has a light gray head, Se loves getting on my shoulder and hanging out with me. The only time she's nippy is when my big brother is near or when ANY MEN are near.. She HATES boys.. Lol

Nice video though, sucks you got so much hate for some honest personal opinions. I am currently studying Marine zoology in college focusing my studies on warm water Coral Reefs. I am going to get a 103 gallon tank with a bue tang some day. After my 2 12 gallons are setup and thriving. Will some people get mad at me for doing this, sure. But, do any of those commentators have any knowledge of the ecosystem known as the reef besides what a online forum says? Probably not. That is why the '' Tang Police'' say a blue tang needs a 300+ gallon tank and that statement is not only wrong, it is untrue. Don't listen to haters, keep being great. 😊👍

@@VictoriaRyann The saddest story I have ever hurd when was when a pet store sold a coral cat shark to a person. The following day the person came in with a dead shark. When the shop owner asked if the person had checked the salinity and person said, what salinity? People need to know what they are getting themselves in to. I would never get an animal without haveing its entire setup ready and waiting for it. I enjoy traveling to reef stores and bird stores however, I don't allways enjoy the clientel that they attract. But, I respect people like you who truly care about animals and want what is best for them, rather than a fancy thing to stick in a glass box to show your friends.

They are so similar its crazy! But for maroon bellied, their tail is green on top, maroon underneath. Mine is a yellow sided green cheek because his tail is maroon both top and underneath.

What snacks are you feeding yoshi?
Every once in a while I'll give him a sunflower seed or two. He goes nuts for those! But they aren't the best for him nutritional speaking. I get the purple zupreem bag of mixed treats which is what I believe I'm using in this video...oh and dried chili peppers good Lord he loves those! Haha.

I thought he couldn’t fly, I thought his wings were clipped but he flew the other day but I don’t think he likes it very much. Idk maybe his previous owners kept him in his cage all day. I think it brides the gap between companion and creepy when you see people kiss their birds and talk in high piched voices. It is good that you do not see that in the aquarium hoby. I believe all animals are amazing creatures, even my female crested. However, I don't want to and will not feel heartbroken when she dies. As long as she has lived a good life, what more could a animal ask for.

haha no I didn't mean to come across as I'm mad or anything. Its funny though how we all have our own ways with animals. Nic doesn't get super attached and make baby noises to animals. I don't think I'm extreme with it but I definitely get more lovey than he does lol Thank you though I'm glad it shows. They are awesome pets and very fascinating when it comes to learning about how complex they are.

Lol my gcc always kisses me on my lips just my lips if there's people out there opening their mouths while their bird kisses them thats disturbing and disgusting at the same time lol
