Nice cage setups, but I know that cedar woodchips give off fumes that are toxic to birds. Do you think the horse bedding pellets are cedar as you say they smell nice? Also, black newspaper ink is made from Soy these days so its not the issue it used to be for birds.

Which one do you think will be best for me? I have space for really any size cage because I have a spare room right next to my bedroom. I prefer a quieter bird, and a medium size bird. Parakeets are quite, but not as big as I’d like. I don’t know why I like bigger birds but I’ve just always found a love for them.
Ellie Letourneau I have two budgies and they are great for beginner owners! I recommend getting two budgies especially if you are not available 24/7. Green Cheeks are amazing too, but they are very social and need attention all the time, every second you are home.
What I’m finding that works best for me, is to buy one cage the size of your three put together for just one bird. That way I’m able to “furnish” it in such a way that I can strategically position everything so that nothing is under something else, so I have a minimal amount of things getting pooped on.

Not every pet will love you or have a close bond with you. Don't be selfish and expect something from your cockatiel, just care for him because you chose to have him.

You said you just cleaned the cage? It’s so filthy. Take those perches out and wash them with hot soapy water and rinse with vinegar water! Sanding down the poop doesn’t sanitize anything!

Parakeets are not an easy first bird as they are very skittish which makes them quite hard to tame for beginners
