The 12v powered TV's are handy to have around. With some batteries they can be your tv in a lights out event.

I repaired similar tvs several years back using a sawhorse table. Otherwise it took a spare bed to lay them on. I repaired 5 out of 8 with just capacitors!

I powered one of those Insignia TVs that used a 12 volt wall wart with a 12 volt sealed lead acid battery. And It worked for 23 hours before it needed recharged.

I picked up what appears to be a 27" Sanyo from a local Goodwill store (yeah, the BAD guys) several years ago for less than $25 because it had a couple of scratches on the face of the screen. When the set is operating you absolutely CANNOT see those scratches so I think it was a great deal.

Bryan has been slipping in regards to that lately, " no one wants to see my face...". Now Shango066 on the
other hand I still never have seen his face so he could walk right past me and wouldn't know him from anybody.
I do know his name is Dan Yahro and Wikitubia has a photo of him wearing a military shirt. Maybe.

@@hestheMaster I don’t mind seeing Bryan’s face. He is like a lot of them. Vwestlife shango, and a few others. Just a voice on the Internet. But sometimes you do get a glimpse or a special video and I think it’s cool when they do

That Insignia set would perfect for an emergency set, being that it can be ran on a 12 volt battery.

If The button that you were using to navigate the menus is the one that's located around the power button, then you would probably use the power button for enter. You may have to either press it quickly to achieve enter or you may have to press and hold it in order to enter (select).

As for a remote for the Insignia, the remote for that LG that you EOL'd might work since LG makes Insignia TVs.
    Worth a try.

Sometimes you get lucky and a curbside TV can be made to work with a little knowledge (as Bryan shows ), but if the
    screen is cracked, fourgitaboutit.

Them are at least a little bit better than today’s flat screen 📺 TV’s. The battery 🔋 operated TV 📺 could be nicknamed your “Farm TV” 📺, as associated with farm radios 📻 from the 1930’s, and 1940’s 😅. Your friend, Jeff.

I bet that last TV at the end of the video probably just fell off the table. I remember a couple of years ago I bought a Roku TCL TV and I bumped it and it just fell off the dresser and it broke. I sent it back to Amazon and got my money back.

Interesting about the power supply issues! When these LCD panels turn out to be time wasters, I like to connect the CCFL power supply to various other circuits to give it a send off. They haven't made super spectacular final performance yet but I haven't tried everything either. I have a hunch that cross contaminating itself with it's own voltage and/or signals might just get really interesting,. I made a character generator in a VCR go completely ape-shxt just by connecting ic's with wet paper (no damage) and I think these crappier LCD panels have hidden talent!

In 2008 I bought a Samsung 36 inch 1080p HD TV. Its been in the living room 15 years now and has about a zillion hours on it. It has been flawless, the picture looks just as good as new. Great clarity, great color. If it died tomorrow, I've definitely got more than my money's worth. So here's the question. Did I get lucky and get an exceptionally reliable one, or is Samsung just that good??

Finally got to watch. When I tried watching it when it was just posted, the little circle loading thing kept spinning. Other videos played fine.
I don't like replacing things. I prefer they last a long time. I don't have to have the latest all of the time. I'll keep a Refrigerator until it stops, even if it's ancient. Same for Washers and Dryers. But, the ones I have now won't last 1/3 as long as previous appliances.
Btw, do you tighten the screws on the circuit boards? I assume you do, but just don't mention it.

The cheap TV's of today are still light years better than the old CRT's in terms of utility and viewability. Not a bad trade off for something that takes up so little space but with a big picture, weighs so little and uses so little electricity to run.
