I’m very sorry for your loss and all the bs they’re putting you through. Things will get better, but it’s going to take some time. Best thing you can do is to keep busy and focus on other things so you don’t keep focusing on the hardships you’re going through right now. I find that troubleshooting and repairing stuff is the very best medicine in times like these; you really have to use your brain to figure out what’s wrong and you have the ability to make it right no matter what it is. BTW I love 60’s technology repair videos like this and that was a very interesting little stereo amp. Looks like Philco made almost everything on that board, capacitor date code looked like ‘66 so probably a ‘67 model I’m guessing. Best of luck Bryan, get well soon too!

Bryan, I wish we could fix people up as easily as you fix vintage electronics. I remember loosing my mom to lung cancer and of course you can guess why. It’s never, ever easy no matter the circumstances. Praying for God’s peace to sustain you through this hard time, and find a new life normal for yourself with support from Church and friends.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I lost mine May of last year. She had COPD as well. COPD is some bad stuff. Alot of these places you take them to are only worried about the money. Just like taking your car in to get it worked on. That's what it reminds you of. They know how to run the insurance down to the last penny. Hope you get better soon. My sincere condolences about you mother. Last year I lost my grandfather after a long battle with Parkinsons and COPD. Sometimes it's hard to keep going, but I think they're all in a better place now. Wish you the best, keep strong, your videos are awesome.
I'm so sorry about your mom, and thanks for telling her story. Mine smoked since she was 11. She had breast cancer 20 years ago, recovered, and started smoking again - saying she loved it, was addicted, was too hard to get away from it; any excuse you could imagine. Last year she had lung cancer and had part of her lung removed. She hasn't touched a cigarette since, and considers herself a non-smoker. It's really all about the decisions you make, and as you said, the best one is not to start.
My condolences. You are brave to come on so soon after and post a video. My parents partied well into their thirties, well after most responsible adults gave up such 'diversions'. And while it might not have been the direct cause of their passing in their mid-70s, it didn't help matters. So our experiences were somewhat similar.

Now I have a sibling starting to go thru a similar situation due to all the mass amounts of cigarettes and very heavy drinking. I'm guilty myself of about a 1/2 to 3/4th of a liter of diet pop a day and trying to cut major back if not out.

I love these original stereo record players from the late 60's early 70's. They have a distinct sound. look after of your health bryan. Problem with some folk of a certain generation, the're too proud for others to advise them about health. Im speaking from my experience from the same kind of reason. Look after yourself if others won't for themselves. My dad left at the right time as things were hitting harder in this world. He escaped the lockdown period!!! I think most people need to think even stronger about bringing children into this world but most never do!!!

I remember a few years ago, my uncle passed away, and I was sad. I lost my first dad back in 1991, and then my grandmother also passed away a year later, and then, grandma’s sister did passed away in 1997 and finally, my other grandmother passed away back in 2004. Those are my loss.

It is very difficult when your parent is sick and passes away. I understand because I took care of my dad before he passed away. You took very good care of your mother and she was blessed that you were there for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sorry for you loss Bryan. My dad also a heavy smoker too and sure enough it caught up too him, plus on top of that he had high blood pressure and diabetes. Had he gave up that, he would’ve still be alive today. Though he succumbed to COVID, his health was deteriorating as a result from nearly 60 years of smoking.
Man, sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I know exactly wha you are talking about. My mom is at the doctor right now, she will be 97 next week, and suffers from diabetes. She never smoked, but both my sisters and I did. I quit when I was 55 and was up to 3-4 packs a day. Neither of my sisters quit. My eldest died 3 years ago from brain cancer, my middle sister died 2 months earlier from lung cancer. Both were 73 at the time, my wonderful wife of 51 tears and 4 days died in my arms 2 years ago of stomach cancer, she stopped smoking 45 years ago, but her cancer was in her family, Six months ago, I noticed blood in my urine and went to my Doctor, he found I had kidney cancer and I have since had my right kidney removed. The Doctors say they got all the cancer out of my body but I am still worried. That damn smoking - it will get you, I saw my middle sister try over a hundred times to quit, she used the patch, the gum, hypnosis, every "recommended" way in the magazines to quit but just could not get the job done. My eldest did quit, but only after the cancer was cut out of her brain. I agree, if you smoke, QUIT! If you don't smoke don't start! My self, I have just started my electronics hobby once more after a couple years of being so damn depressed that I could hardly move.
SO sorry to hear about your mother. Lost mine about 4 1/2 years ago due to pnenumonia while she was in the hospital for something else.....smdh. Was a pretty bad situation...one I don't want to have to go through again if possible but now my dad is getting to be in rough shape so there's that :(

I was wondering if you know or have any knowledge you could share with me because i have plugged it in and tested it out. It works! only the needle or cartridge needs to be replaced. do you know which one i replace it with and how that is done by chance? i dont want to break the thing before i hear it work properly.

Your mother may have made some bad lifestyle choices, but I believe she was also let down by a healthcare system that values profits over people. So crazy to spend that much in the last month or two of someone's life when you won't give them the medicine and support they need while they still could have turned things around.

It is very difficult when your parent is sick and passes away. I understand because I took care of my dad before he passed away. You took very good care of your mother and she was blessed that you were there for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry for you loss Bryan. My dad also a heavy smoker too and sure enough it caught up too him, plus on top of that he had high blood pressure and diabetes. Had he gave up that, he would’ve still be alive today. Though he succumbed to COVID, his health was deteriorating as a result from nearly 60 years of smoking.

Man, sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I know exactly wha you are talking about. My mom is at the doctor right now, she will be 97 next week, and suffers from diabetes. She never smoked, but both my sisters and I did. I quit when I was 55 and was up to 3-4 packs a day. Neither of my sisters quit. My eldest died 3 years ago from brain cancer, my middle sister died 2 months earlier from lung cancer. Both were 73 at the time, my wonderful wife of 51 tears and 4 days died in my arms 2 years ago of stomach cancer, she stopped smoking 45 years ago, but her cancer was in her family, Six months ago, I noticed blood in my urine and went to my Doctor, he found I had kidney cancer and I have since had my right kidney removed. The Doctors say they got all the cancer out of my body but I am still worried. That damn smoking - it will get you, I saw my middle sister try over a hundred times to quit, she used the patch, the gum, hypnosis, every "recommended" way in the magazines to quit but just could not get the job done. My eldest did quit, but only after the cancer was cut out of her brain. I agree, if you smoke, QUIT! If you don't smoke don't start! My self, I have just started my electronics hobby once more after a couple years of being so damn depressed that I could hardly move.
SO sorry to hear about your mother. Lost mine about 4 1/2 years ago due to pnenumonia while she was in the hospital for something else.....smdh. Was a pretty bad situation...one I don't want to have to go through again if possible but now my dad is getting to be in rough shape so there's that :(

My condolences on your loss I lost my mom in 2016 my mom had cancer that metastasized and she had a mini stroke and my sister and I called an ambulance and she was in and out of coma and then she passed in December of 2016 i drink 4 glasses of diet soda not mountain dew that is very sweet i do not smoke and dont do drugs except prescription again I send my condolences and I am here for you god

so i have obtained a sears silvertone solidstate portable record player, model #7270. I was wondering if you know or have any knowledge you could share with me because i have plugged it in and tested it out. It works! only the needle or cartridge needs to be replaced. do you know which one i replace it with and how that is done by chance? i dont want to break the thing before i hear it work properly.

So sorry to hear. My faith assures me your mom is in a better place now. 🙏 Please please take care of yourself in this time. You are a treasure to all of us. Your mother may have made some bad lifestyle choices, but I believe she was also let down by a healthcare system that values profits over people. So crazy to spend that much in the last month or two of someone's life when you won't give them the medicine and support they need while they still could have turned things around.
