I've made this dish a couple of times now. It is so easy to make and absolutely delicious. I don't have a cast iron skillet so I made it in my non stick skillet then transferred it to a baking dish, added the puff pastry and baked it in the oven. It worked out fine and looked beautiful in my baking dish.
I eat plant based so many of your recipes won't work for me. But I love watching you so much that I watch anyway. Also I am a huge fan of your Dad and watched every show he made years ago and I even think I saw one of your early appearances on his show on HGTV. I loved the Summer in France series and continue to love your videos old and new.
Aww thanks Liz! That's so nice to hear that :) I'll surely share with Dad too! Here are some yummy plant based recipes for the season! I Hope you enjoy them! ua-cam.com/video/QO1EWD205cY/v-deo.html
This looks wonderful and I can’t wait to try it! Tonight I’m going to use your recipe as a jumping off point and go a slightly different direction. I have a package of rotisserie seasoned ground chicken and a package of mushrooms on their way out that I need to use tonight. And I don’t have puff pastry, but I DO have a sheet of crescent roll dough in the fridge. And I have the bacon, etc so I’m making a fridge clean-out version! I think it will be delicious, but not quite as much as the real deal - next week I’ll do it right!
THIS ONE IS IT!!! It sounds like a perfect Sunday dinner with a nice salad. The temperature here in Florida is FINALLY getting cooler so I can actually turn my oven on without turning down the a/c. Thank you so much Beth, you always have the most delicious recipes and this one is a winner. 💞💯👋👋👋👋
New viewer here and a bit limited with my cooking skills- a bit daunting for me- I love your style and the way you communicate what steps you take to make your dishes. Thank- you.
Thanks for subbing! So happy you like the videos! And yes, cooking can be daunting at first, but really at the end of the day it's as easy as just following all the steps! You got this! Enjoy! :)
the title is mouthwatering. Thanks for another delicious recipe Beth. You are such a kitchen queen. Thank you so much. Hope you and the family are keeping well. XX
This was delicious Beth.. Will try as a pie next time, as I had no pastry left..I made it as a pasta dish & will definitely be making it again.. Love the clear instructions..
Beth, I just made this for my husband using some leftover chicken from my chicken soup recipe. This was such a big hit at dinner today. Even my finicky daughter loved it. This is definitely a keeper in my book. Thank you, and keep up the good work. Sincerely, Lee Billings
I found your channel while looking for Paris inspiration and everything you cook or assemble looks amazing! Glad to have found you! Thank you for all the great recipes!

Hi Beth, This recipe was a huge hit with my family tonight. It was delicious and I’m adding it to my rotation. Good enough for company as well as for a weeknight dinner. I can’t wait to try some of your other recipes. Kathy
Hey Beth ,just wanted you to know that I tried your chicken mushroom recipe and oh my god it was soooo delicious 😋😋😋😋😋👌👍👌🫶🫶I can’t believe it came out that good👌👍thanks for sharing ❤️✌️
Of course, my pleasure! I’m so glad it came out. Great! This one is one of my favorites to pretty easy and people really love it a good one for the cold-weather months, so glad it was a hit!
Yummers! And today I used a french rolling pin I had in the cupboard, and realized it had the classic EWB logo on it. How fun to see again! I'm guessing I must have received it in one of your subscription boxes from a while ago? You had such nice boxes! :-)
Hi Angela, Yes I'll be doing a long one for Christmas :) The long ones take a week to shoot (since it's 4-5 recipes) and a week to edit. And now that I'm shooting/editing them all myself, it's a bit of a challenge. But they are definitely my favorites to share. The short ones are an experimentation with UA-cam Shorts, they have been good for me to gain exposure and bring in new audiences since UA-cam promotes them on the short shelf. Sorry they are not your favorites, you can just keep scrolling when you see them pop up :) Thanks for the feedback! Beth
This looks pretty perfect as is, but I think I can't resist adding in something green. Maybe some frozen green peas or green beans? I've got everything on hand, making it tomorrow night. Thanks Beth!
Hi,Beth ! Thank you for this new delicious and mouthwatering dish. Gonna make for sure! And I would like to give you some recommendation on the pastry .No need to get your board messy . Just do the same already on your parchment paper, and then transfer it with the paper on the baking sheet. Sincerely
I happened to have a little over a pound-and-a-half of bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs already in the fridge. Dark meat chicken is even tastier to me. So I prepared everything during the afternoon and placed it in the fridge for baking in the evening. I know it's going to be fabulously delicious. I'm tempted, however, to stir in about a half-cup of Pinot Gris before placing the pastry on top and popping it in the oven.
This looks great! I would like to make individual portions, how long would you bake it for? I'm thinking of using 4x4 dishes (10cm x 10 cm) thank you for your recipes!
I was wondering what type of bacon you use? Crazy question but there are so many different choices now, is there any one that seems the best for caramelization? Thanks so much
Will be making this soon can i skip chicken bacon worchester sauce and use flax eggs and almond milk as am a vegan love mushrooms perfect for my after office meals love your recipes making me hungry Thanks Ramya
i think substituting all these ingredients wouldnt be the best idea because there are so many animal ingredients involved, i think you would be better off looking up a vegan recipe for mushroom pie, but you could just wing it and make a mushroom filling and put it in store bought vegan crust but idk if this is the recipe for you haha
Sure you can skip the butter and flour part, just go straight to the chicken broth part, add all the seasonings, then before adding the veggies and chicken, bring the broth to a boil, and add the cornstarch slurry (2 Tbsp of cornstarch, mixed with 2 Tbsp very cold water), pour into the boiling broth to thicken, then reduce to simmer and proceed as directed. Hope you enjoy!
It would be great for Halloween! Maybe add some frozen peas, leeks or boiled potatoes to bulk it up if leaving the mushrooms out :) Hope you enjoy Jack!

Wow, this looks delicious! Only thing I’ll change is no onions. Allergic to them. Lol

Hi Beth, do you have any recommendation for an alternative to a cast iron skillet?
Can I use corn starch in place of flour?
Sure you can skip the butter and flour part, just go straight to the chicken broth part, add all the seasonings, then before adding the veggies and chicken, bring the broth to a boil, and add the cornstarch slurry (2 Tbsp of cornstarch, mixed with 2 Tbsp very cold water), pour into the boiling broth to thicken, then reduce to simmer and proceed as directed. @@EntertainingWithBeth ya know I was thinking about peas when I was watching eh video! And I love all 3 of those suggestions. Definitely going to try it out!
What if you don’t own a cast iron what is a good alternative?
Oh sure you could use a 10" pie plate, brownie pan, or any oven-safe casserole that is roughly 10 x 10 or 9 x 9 works too! Hope you enjoy!
What could the bacon be replaced with?
You could skip it and just use butter or oil to sautee the veggies :) Hope you enjoy!
