  • The seven inch Santoku knife by Wusthof is one of my favorite things. It's my go-to knife and a real workhorse in the kitchen. It's really light and well balanced.

I had spotted you using this knife a while back and asked about it, and now I love it even more since you've shown us a demonstration. I STILL plan to get this knife! Maybe the next time my mom asks me if I have any Christmas ideas, I could give her this one -- ha! Thanks for the demo, Annette

+Phyllis Freeman You won't believe this, but last night I was lying in bed thinking, I've got to send Phyllis a note and let her know I got my KNIFE. :o) My husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and usually I say "nothing." Well, Mom had asked, too, but I knew she wouldn't remember. At any rate, I told Bailey, "Well, NOW THAT YOU ASK, I'd like this knife." And, sure enough, I was SHOCKED to see that's exactly what I got (not really, since I had to place the order for him --ha!). Mine even came with a little cutting board that's just the right size. At any rate, two days ago I was fixing pasta salad, and I HATE cutting up green peppers (or in this case, red and orange peppers). That knife just SLID right through those peppers, skin and all, with NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER. I felt so SMUG. Then I was fixing some cheesy spinach artichoke dip (whatever it's called), and I was using a can of artichoke hearts, had to chop them up, and it just SLID right through those, too, even the tougher outer layers. I've sliced pears and apples with it ... goes right through the skin, lickity-split. That knife is well worth my husband's money -- ha! -- and I'm so glad you told us about it. :o) Happy New Year, Annette.

I have no idea why there's a LINE through half of my previous comment. :o( Anyway, I just wanted to add that I can't wait to try this on tomatoes, too.

+Phyllis By the way, I was DEMONSTRATING to my husband, mom and mother-in-law how you could just leave the tip down, you know, and chop away, like I knew what I was doing. Well, in actuality, I'm not QUITE that good with it yet, but I have studied your technique -- ha! Thanks again!
