Sam's club scan and go is probably the most useful tool I've ever used in shopping at a physical store. I have been using it for years and especially came in handy during the beginning of the pandemic when lines were ridiculously long. I'm glad to say I haven't had to wait in a register line for quite a while.

I’m a former Amazon Prime member and now a convert to Walmart because of the savings on groceries and everyday items . Another reason for my switch is the savings on gas ($6/galllon in CA) and wear/tear on my car for weekly groceries. Sometimes Walmart delivers twice a week for my family of five. I do wait for Amazon purchases to gather for free shipping which isn’t that hard to do, sometimes the orders match Prime deliveries but if not it comes in a week later so you need to plan for things like paint stencils and other specialized merchandise. I do miss some of the shows on Prime but with Netflix and Disney+ these monthly expenses add up.

I have both! Here's the deal, though. I get free Amazon Prime with my Metro cellphone acct. I can compare pricing and availability. Walmart + also gets me one (WOOHOO) free Express Delivery, which is within 2 hrs. They both have tracking, Amazon doesn't always provide it, I don't know why. I'm a disabled widow and live alone. Being able to count on the reliability of delivery is essential. Perhaps some of the issues I've experienced are local to me. I click on the tabs on both sites for same/next-day delivery. C/S issues have always been addressed positively. I reap the rewards of both as often as my budget allows! You're the best at this, hon, I look to no other.😊 Continued blessings.

I am disabled, all my shopping is done online, especially groceries. I love my Prime, hard to find items, prime video has excellent programming, books, ebooks, so many things that make me happy, the ability to “oh, my favorite author’s new book comes out today, but I can’t drive to a bookstore to buy it.” I can go to Amazon Prime, and start reading in 2 days. Walmart, I go to the grocery section, pick out what I want, tell them if I want them substitute if my exact product isn’t available. It used to be $30, now it’s $35 minimum per order. Tell them when my aide can be there to pick up for me. I was using this service before the lockdown. This saves her time, and headaches. I’ll keep things the way they are, but thanks for explaining the differences. Informative, I am now a subscriber. Isn’t this where streamers and balloons drop from the ceiling, thanking me? Before the pandemic, Amazon fulfilled it's 2-day shipping promise, since the pandemic I've had items take 3 weeks or more and yet the membership cost didn't change. I'm still not getting my packages in 2 days. I'd argue if you are choosing a membership simply for shipping, the 1 day Walmart is better than about a week Amazon.

I've never loved Walmart but I have been using their curbside grocery pickup since the world turned upside down as their prices are the most reasonable in my area and people are crazy. Since there is also a $35 minimum for regular curbside pickup, their stock tends to be limited and they don't sell gas near me, it isn't practical to also pay for a membership. Canceled my PRIME membership a couple weeks ago, but I won’t be paying for a Walmart membership either, but tthanks for the video, it was informative.
Reason for canceling PRIME: I first joined PRIME years ago when they offered free 2-day shipping, but in the last 2 - 3 years I started noticing a couple things.
-First, the free 2-day shipping started taking longer and longer. Sometimes it would take two weeks for “in-stock” items to show up.
Second, if you are shopping, and don’t click the “PRIME” button you will notice that many, not just a few, but many items have two prices. A regular price and a PRIME price, which is always more expensive, sometimes by several dollars. So, I realized I am paying extra for that “PRIME” item, obviously for the shipping, which rarely comes in two days anymore. So, if I happen to spend the minimum, then often the non-PRIME priced item is shipped free anyhow, albeit, not in two days.
-None of the other PRIME benefits had any value to me. I tried PRIME video but found that most of the content I was interested in I could find for free on other apps, likely with commercials. Kind of like broadcast TV.
-Finally, although this is not Amazon’s fault, my state forces Amazon to tax me on this service. It is a service, not a final product.
Walmart..I go there when I need to. I don’t stand in the scan it yourself line, since I am paying full price for the item, I don’t work for them. And I would never load their app on my phone, or any stores app for that matter.

I’m not looking for a handout, but can help out and find furniture deals, ceiling fan deals and cam lights. Any awesome sells would be great! Thanks for everything!

Love the scan and go at sams. I seem to save a lot on groceries now that I buy and pick up. I don’t really need to have them delivered. When you pick up you still need a $35 minimum (at least in my area) I get the gas discount at sams so I don’t really need that at Murphy. I think it is enticing because who doesn’t want to belong to something 😂. But I can’t justify it when Walmart doesn’t stock all of the crazy items I need at 2:00 am when I can’t sleep! 😂

I too love the scan and go at Sam’s Club. As far as gas perks, in my locale, Murphy is always 5 cents a gallon higher than Sam’s Club which is right across the street. Don’t think I’ll go the Walmart route. I have been a Prime member for years and love the perks they offer such as free videos, books, music and great customer service. I think Walmart is a little too late to the game.

My husband and I love Amazon Prime and Costco. We agree that both of those places should not charge us a fee to shop and spend money with them, but they do have their benefits, as you said. over here in the uk its rare to get a delivery from asda (walmarts uk arm) in under 2 weeks and then its pot luck what is out of stock, food is usually just dumped on your doorstep (loose) some stuff gets bagged but often things like bread with heavy stuff on top, even if you pay extra for stuff to be bagged (single use plastic) you'll be lucky to get 40% bagged the rest just dumped on your doorstep, compare that to amazon 1 - 2 hours on primenow (limited selection) or same day from morrisons supermarket (complete range) it arrives all well bagged in paper bags and is delivered just inside the house doorway.
at this point its worth noting i'm housebound so dumped loose on the doorstep means food can be left outside until i can get someone to come and lift it in, bagged stuff left inside is simple to pick up and unpack. so if this service was offered here i'd absolutely stay with amazon prime.

I used to shop at Wal-mart once a month or so because they have the best price on a few things my family needs, but I've recently been able to find all of those items on Amazon - even a generic, less expensive brand - that I can get on Subscribe & Save. I've had a Prime membership for a few years, now, and it's mainly for the streaming. We're rural and cable choices are limited. (We actually have Prime and Netflix.) We also shop at Walmart monthly for all sorts of things, saving significantly on nearly everything we purchase there. Our Walmart, however, is just a Walmart, not a SuperWalmart. We don't have a gas pump, the grocery selection is very, VERY, limited and while we do save on the things we purchase there, we still have to go to Aldi (which for us is on the way to Walmart, conveniently, and even one of the large chain stores now and then for stuff we just can't find at either Walmart or Aldi. Having Prime means that if I need, say, a pad of specialty paper (I'm a paper crafter/book maker) and I can only find it on Amazon, I can order just that $12 package of paper and get free shipping and it's delivered in just a couple of days. It spoils me for shopping at online stores that don't offer free shipping! I hate to pay for shipping. :)

I feel like unless you need large weekly grocery deliveries, use a significant amount of gas and have babies at home then Amazon is the way to go. To be honest, I just cancelled my Amazon Prime membership tonight. Reason being, the only perk I used from my Amazon Prime subscription is the 2-day shipping when I couldn't find something locally. Also, during the Covid crisis, all of my Amazon Prime orders were a mess. Customer service was useless resolving issues as well. I can live without the Prime membership. As for Walmart, I have at least 6 Super Walmart's within a 2-15 mile radius from my house. My husband & I love our local Walmart's & we shop with them all the time. The order online grocery pickup or delivery is our favorite perk. It saved us a lot of hassles during Covid lockdown. Will we give Walmart Plus a go? Absolutely! I'm signing up for a month tonight. We'll see how it goes.

I used the new Scan and Go at Walmart a few days ago. NOT the same as Sam's Club. It's a wonderfully easy experience at Sam's. But when you use S&G at Walmart, you still have to go to the Self Checkout registers, wait in line for an open register, scan the QR code that is on the register screen, wait for an attendant to come over and check id (for alcohol), show them your e-receipt on your phone, they verify your cart, a little barcode appears on your phone, then you can proceed to the exit. Not as easy as the Sam's Club just S&G and show your phone on the way out.
I do enjoy the free deliver/pick-up of Walmart Grocery. I just wish I could get a quicker deliver/pick-up day/time. Amazon PrimeNow never has what I need and if they do it's way over priced.
With that being said; 90% of my online purchases are via Amazon. So it's a give and take. Will probably have to keep both memberships.

This isn't a Walmart issue, this is a physical store with customers actively moving, buying and stealing products that are in the same pool of items being sold online. I'm not saying they shouldn't do more to prevent your scenario, but all physical stores are subject to this and they tend to value in-person first come first serve and have someone deal with any issues as poorly as possible because they've already got their money.

I shop for three households (aging parents with little to no mobility). For the most part, I use...
Walmart Pick Up - for our groceries and regularly used household items.
Sam's - in store Scan and Go for bulk item purchases.
Amazon Prime - for specialty items, gifts, etc. Prime perks are worth it for our family.
Walmart has been trying to sell us their plus service for some time, but just doesn't make sense for us when I can simply order and pick up.
The items that aren't available when I pick up, at this time, I simply protect myself with mask and sanitary kit and go in to local stores (like Aldi) to get items we need without any further hassle and to grab great deals you clued us in on.
I greatly appreciate your help in getting the best deals. We have all been struggling through the last few years.
