Another cheap accessory to have is a first aid kit. Just in case a buddy or you run into an emergency. I keep one in my backpack. Got them hello kitty Band-Aids ready!
For the disk lock, I recommend a disk alarm. They work the exact same way but when they get moved a little they get REAL loud. Also would keep you from forgetting it's there and destorying your brake caliper 👍🏼
This is random as hell but I guess somehow I've never had to write or type the word disk/disc and only just a minute ago did I realize it has 2 different spellings with the same meaning🤦♂️ Edit: (similar to color vs colour or armor vs amour)
@@jamesvedder1143 I think it boils down to a minute difference between American English and British English. I'll use either depending on context (I'm not sure the exact contexts but I've used both 🤣)
@@hyenapeacekeeper2220 this also happens in computing, disc vs disk. usually in computers we use disc for things that are circular when you are handling them (aka CDs, miniCD, bluray, etc.) and disk for pretty much anything else.
Like many other Harley owners, I use a battery tender, hydration pack, ear plugs, and cargo net, and on really hot days, I wear a hydration vest to cool my body core temperature and a mesh jacket with armor pads for ventillation. Ride smart. Ride safe.
Hey Yam, i'm buying my first bike and there is a guy on the internet selling a very cool looking one called Suzuki Hayabusa and I think I would look super cool riding it. He also said it has something called turbo, i'm not sure what that is but it sounds super cool. Should I buy it as my first ever bike? I just passed my MSF last weekend
I would like to note that when looking into a battery tender, you should make sure that it spicifically says battery tender or battery maintainer. If it just says battery charger on it and you leave your battery on it for an extended period of time you will kill your battery. I say this because when I worked as a parts specialist I saw a lot of customers kill brand new batteries by leaving them on a charger over the winter, and they only had a 6 month warrenty or manufaturer defect warrnenty(witch basically means as long as it works out of the box, you don't get anything). Battery tenders and mantainers will periodically stop charging a battery and even put a load on it so that it does not sit at full charge for too long. So remember, tender and maintanier good, charger bad.
I've never been a fan of tank bags, but I ride a S1000XR and have bags (with everything like my first aid kit, tools, and tire repair kit, etc. inside them).
I quit using locks through my discs after forgetting they were on and warping my discs. I did put better rotors on which greatly improved my overall braking abilities. But it was expensive.
The beauty of riding in Northern CA (Bay Area) is that the weather here is so good, I ride all year. Have had three bikes since 2007 and never owned a battery tender. I'm sure they are good for some people, I've just never needed one. And my bikes have been sport touring complete with side bags and a top case.. No need for a tank bag. I find that they get in mai way.
Avoid magnetic tank bags as they can wipe out your cards magnetic strip . Happened to me twice til I worked it out. Get those with tank ring eg givi Sw motech that way u can use same bag for different bikes . A puncture repair & pump with portable charger was a life saver when I had a puncture
Can you please make a video on relatively cheap but still effective riding gear. Starting out that was the hardest thing for me to find. Pants, jacket and a helmet that were affordable yet actually truly effective if I were to crash
I haven't been here for awhile but mannnn THE GROWTH (that's what she said) of this channel is great!!!! Glad to see your well over million subs. Came a long way in production no doubt. Really happy for the Yammie channel!
I was holding off on buying a tank bag because I wasn't sure if I'll really need it. I guess I'd give it a try. Bonus that it has a see-through phone pocket.
my riding pants have big pockets on the both sides that could fit a few soda bottles, not the most amount of armor but still a bit below the knee, but really useful because of the massive pockets
Tip; given to me by a friend… if you use a disc lock, cut a plastic straw down to about 3 inches and, when using the lock, simply stick the short straw into you ignition key slot as a reminder. Sweet hack. Feel free to share.
I have stopped using backpack for my daily commute to office and i am now using a tank bag that carries a 14inch laptop, My 2 phones, some protein bars, a gel seat and my rain cover..Best decision ever.
thats wild. there was an ad right after he said "lets take a moment for everyone that died doing something stupid for the internet." and then a "we make it happen" commercial from a telecom provider
I think it's hilarious that the main UA-cam thumbnail shows the exact tank bag I used to have, on a Triumph very much like mine. I swapped it out for one of the lock ring around the fuel cap design because a tiny piece of grit got caught on the magnet and I didn't notice it before it caused a small scratch.
Been using various ear plus, then had a custom moulded one what a difference . Now using one that plugs straight into my Sena 50s amazing sound pricy but worth it so much better than foam ones
One note on the cargo net: get one with coated metal hooks - NO PLASTIC hooks. Also, regular use is still going to make surface scratches. Deal with it.
Just ordered a tank bag and cargo net for my first tour this summer, already have a battery tender, tool roll and disc locks. But hydration pack no sir, I'd rather just stop for a second and drink out of a water bottle lol
MotoSafe Alpine Earplugs>>>Eargasm or similar. the motosafe alpine plugs do a much better job at being selective with what frequencies they block out. They make a night and day difference to how my music sounds coming in from my cardo. suddenly all the details ( high and low frequencies) that were being erased by wind come back and you get truly headphone like sound.
Hi Yammie, very great and comprehensive video! I just recently got my first bike last week!!! It’s a 2007 gsxr600 with 56,000 miles, 3 engine rebuilds, and 14 previous owners for only $7999 USD!!! Although, i really enjoyed this video, I will not be purchasing anything from it due to the fact that I will be buying carbon fiber parts for my motorcycle in hopes of getting enough weight savings to hit 190mph (previous owner said he already hit 180). I really hope you make a video on which carbon fiber parts to get for maximum weight savings!!!
How I see it, is, if you need ear plugs to muffle the sound of your exhaust, your bike is too loud. This is coming from someone who rides a straight piped sv650. No muffler at all. Mine is loud but I've never thought "i need earplugs"
I've never used rockform, I have always used Quad Lock, and I will never look back. I have had low sides, highway in the rain, and one high side(low speed) and my phone has never came off.
It's a simple idea from a seasoned English rider just cover the underside of tank bag with artificial fur, thirty years later no scratches on tank and too many miles to remember
Just wondering, how's the rockform case and mount when compared to the quadlock? I've been using quadlock on my 2 bikes and cars, and found it to be working well, but if there's something better, I wouldn't be opposed to trying something new. Thanks!
I am by all means not a motorbike rider I want to be but I live in the uk and stuck on a moped till I can get a 125 then up from there but I take it to college and I need that armed security 😂😭🙏
Funny how you’re talking about the Kia boys. That literally just happened to us on Christmas Eve. Why do those fools like parking garages as opposed to parking lots?
already own: battery tender disc lock hydration pack (from cycling days but still) ear-plugs tool roll all within the first 3 months of owning my bike..
Get that Rokform mount! DO IT. glnk.io/3rj1/yammie-noob
That’s just spent $179
Another cheap accessory to have is a first aid kit. Just in case a buddy or you run into an emergency. I keep one in my backpack. Got them hello kitty Band-Aids ready!
This is probably the best bit of advice period, it might be ineffective on a mote serious incident but always handy to have

Naturally as one does

If it's a gen 1 that means it's for beginners like yourself I think
BOT
Looks like a good bike, it's very fast so you can avoid crashes, no need for a helmet on that bike.
I think this sounds great! Make sure you only spool boost when you want to pass someone on the highway
Just keep it in first gear and You’ll be fine

Yammie never gonna let Gixxer brah go about the busa lmao
I mean he didn't charge him but wouldn't you pick on him about it lol I think yammie is at least owed that much😂
Cramp busters are a must on all my bikes. $10-15. They last around 5k miles if u dont mess w em too much
Battery tender has saved me big time, best thing for winter.

I love the little coffee rant
I didn’t know I needed to hear that about the turbo busa. Gonna be amazing
WHAT???? I can plug a USB charger into my battery tender? Well, that’s just awesome. Thanks Yammie ❤ love your channel
1:22 that’s why I use a backpack with many many pockets 👍
Tank bags are nearly required. Great suggestions overal.
That mid-roll during the moment of silence has got to be the best thing I've seen in a while
my riding pants have big pockets on the both sides that could fit a few soda bottles, not the most amount of armor but still a bit below the knee, but really useful because of the massive pockets

Why not just have a memory cable attached? Mine goes over the clutch lever and left grip as I can’t start the bike without it being in the way
I have stopped using backpack for my daily commute to office and i am now using a tank bag that carries a 14inch laptop, My 2 phones, some protein bars, a gel seat and my rain cover..Best decision ever.
yeah the tough to swallow joke cooked me 💀
That whisper of a turbo busa was not what I was expecting brother
Some disc locks have a built-in alarm.. and if they are jostled or tampered with they send out a shrieking alarm
I had that exact bag.. when I got into scooters, (I have a yamaha morphous.. very rare) I sold that.. and got a tunnel Bag.. that sucker worked GREAT!
I'm looking at getting my first bike tomorrow. I'll keep these in mind after I reinstall the turn signals and mirrors

Yam went hard in this video. Nailed it.
In Italy we call a latte “cappuccino” and if it is really expensive for what it is if you go in a popular area it can cost up to 1.20 🤯

Rockform did not have anything in stock and the reviews didn’t look all that great. I went with quad lock. Spendy but it works.
I wish someone would make a tank bag with an integrated hydration pack.
Where do u get a decent tank bag that's half decent size for under 50 bucks? Most are over 100
Well the RockForm case is USD 59 + USD 120 for the bike mount. Not sure how this is less than 50$
For the tank bag, do you have to take it off to get gas?
Yes
already own:
battery tender
disc lock
hydration pack (from cycling days but still)
ear-plugs
tool roll
all within the first 3 months of owning my bike..
Yam, do you no longer sell gear on your website, only merch?
I would Never put earplugs while riding, hearing the engine is rly important for me
Do they sell riding gears anymore at yn website?
rokform just looks likea bulkier version of the quadlock lol
HOLY SHIT BUSA
Yam I was actually about to sleep
1-1/2
Yeah I put a tank bag on gas tank if you don’t mind your gas tank getting scratched the hell. Much rather a hard shell backpack
Also really gets in the way. I go with a pillion tail bag, it's expandable and holds way more crap than a tank bag.
Does yammi not sell parts anymore? I was gonna get my new tires off his website and in dont see them anymore
