Official really should add a stat counter on the tames levels to show where the points went. Would also be nice to see how many points the survivor has put into the tame already.

Really detailed and sharp guide, thanks! But there is something that is often left out and maybe you could share your experiences with the most efficient building set ups for bredding different dinos.
As far as I know there are differences in mating range between official server, unofficial and local. And as the breeding range limits the amount of females you can place around a male, it directly increases the time you need to get a new mutation on average.
I experimented a little bit with slopes to also gather the eggs effiently to have all babies to be stacked up for quick and easy killing experience. Though I just started playing a few weeks ago so I guess there are a lot of better breeding build/stations out there than I can make up myself at the moment :D
There are no differences between official and unofficial. For local play its indeed broken. I reported it a while ago but they don't do changes to the original game anymore. The distance was supposed to be the same on all of them.

ARK got a lot of new players this year.
And to be fair. I met a lot of long year PvPers absolutely clueless about basic ARK mechanics.
I'm breeding bats. I have 7 mutations but the lineage says I have 11. When I get a female with a new mutation I bread it back with the original male till I get a new male for breeding. But why does it show 11. 4 health 2 melee 1 stamina

I’ve watched the in depth guide for mutation stacking many times and still yet to understand. However, upon watched this once i totally understand what i need to do. Recently, i bought a boss male rex with more than 5000+ mutations so i’m getting confused on what to next since i have 2 females with lots of mutations and few unmutated females as well. All in all thanks for the guide video. Trying to mutate lightning wyverns currently.
I even have a dedicated video about fixing breeding lines. That might fit your purpose just fine
im confused. u have shadowmane 255 but the max is 254. than its batter to have odd at the beginning so u become 1 additional lvl. if u begin with even u lose one lvl
I have a 255 to show you can't level it anymore. But especially for melee you wanna go for 254

In one of your other breeding videos, do you break down Method 2 ( 3:54 ) in more detail?? 😊 Or is there somewhere I can talk to someone who can break down method 2 in this video in more detail? lol 😁.
I get lost at the beginning of that methods explanation when you say “try to collect the stats as high as possible on the various tamed animals and then you mate them to make a breeding pair with all the good stats”.
I have a bunch of high level tames/eggs but I’m just lost as to what I do to finally get them from that, to having that actual first breeding pair with the stats I want. How do I combine the stats of all my best wild tames to start my “best” breeding line and boost the stats further through the breeding process. (I think I grasp the stat combining process through breeding, I’m just lost on how to start the process successfully).
I’ve been afraid to start any breeding with any of my high level wild tames and mess them up before I even start. Lol
I play on console, so there’s no spyglass mods and I play on an unofficial server with no level caps.
Very nice video. I did not know that the stats you mutate needs to be even number. That being said, I dont have the time to breed on official with the rates they have, I had fun with breeding on my private server at 10x. On official, I will grind poly and metal and just buy my raid dinos and just breed to make copies or for color.
Excellent video, will share with others who ask about Ark breeding. Now one thing I like to do is to name my breeder males after their key stat (for example, if my first health male has 40 level in health, I will name him 40 health), that way when you look at eggs with the incubator it is silly obvious when you get a desired mutation for that stat.
I do the same. And the girls have my tribe name in it, in case someone gets the hands on my line and then pretend it's their work. Happend before.
IF I'm understanding this correctly the breeding aspect is somewhat similar (even tho it's completely different) to breeding in Pokemon at least for competitive is concern.

I just started Ark, I am having a hard time telling if/what stat mutated, or is good as I have no frame of reference from other dinos, is there an easy way to learn this or a mod that can highlight what stats I got in the dino in game? So for example, if I got a dino with better hp that stat turns yellow or something? Or do I just have to know these stats? Sorry if you covered this, it was just a lot to digest I am sure I will be back watching this over and over

Very good video, I did have a question though. I have my base parents, they share the same hp, stam, weight, and melee, but their food and oxygen are not the same. Would I need their food and oxygen to be identical as well or is that just to easily identify where the mut landed. I use the egg incubator so I see where the mut landed.
Hello Tiia, I am breeding Velonasaurs for mutations on Xbox and I have gotten up to six mutations so far (Five in stamina and one in weight). I have noticed that the levels of the babies always vary wildly between my six unmutated perfect females (Level 224) and my current mutated male (Level 240). Is this normal or have I done something wrong?
no that's absolutely normal especially when you have more than one mutated stat on the male or the females are not the same level. It just means not every baby gets all the good stats every time.

I watched your other video about mutation stacking and how if you want to max it you want an even number to start off with to get to 254 and since you made the mistake you were stuck with it on your Megatheriums... does that mean we cannot attach {X} amount of mutations to a new base male that has a an even starting number? Are the mutations "glued" in to the original base stat we started with?
I'm new breeding and have used your videos to understand breeding and mutation stacking. I have one question regarding dino colours, is there a process you follow if you want to merge a dino which has your ideal colours with a dino which you have already bred for stats and mutated?
I honestly just brute force it. Just keep breeding them and keep the offspring that has the most overlaps and then continue.
I was wondering this same thing. What I ended up doing was breeding my stats up first. Then I found the colors I wanted, bred those together and did the same thing with stats. Bred up a handful of females with at least half the colors I wanted and the male with the the most colors I wanted and started breeding until they were perfect. Then I made multiple Perfect Color Females with the colors I wanted then started breeding a Perfect Stats Male on them until I got a Perfect Stat and Color male. Then bred him on both sets of females until a Perfect Female was born. It was a grind.

I have a quick question..... side note Ive watched all your vids which make up the majority of my knowledge for breeding on official. Plz forgive me if you've covered it before ive tried skimming through the vids once again without an answer. Heres my question: i have ran into a problem with babies being too high level once i breed in the desired traits trying to avoid reaching the level cap. For example my mana line(s) has 64 pts in stam & another with 82 naturally i tried to breed in the 82pts but noticed after raising one with 64pts i leveled 4 points into it and reached the same level of stamina as the 82pt line. Therefor to hit the 2700 stamia mark the level only increased by 4 lvls leaving more room to get to level cap. My desired level at birth is usually 380 because most players wont see more then 70+ points unless they take time to level it up. Which would be the better route? Starting higher which will require less effort to level but starts with 2700 stam & closer to level cap or leave more room to get to level cap. Hopefully you understand what im getting at with such complex question. Playing ark ps console edition.

It def is a little bit juggling when you have to play on official servers with the level cap. I personally think it won't make a big difference honestly if 2700 is your "endgoal" of how much stamina people want to have. When you wanna keep levelling it tho, you want to have the higher stat because the amount of stamina you get per level up is depended on the base stat you started with. So a higher level one gets more stamina per level than a lower level one.
So I’m a tad confused. What is the pct of the baby gaining a mutation if both parents are under 20 and what is pct if the father is 20 or more?is it 50 % or less?
I was trying to find more information on probabilities on up/down mutations in Ark and eventually found the decompilation code on reddit from 5 years ago. Looking at the code, they hard-coded up mutations by 2 stat points (as well as only opposing gender mutations, which seems to violate how Maewings breed), so my guess is that this code from 5 years ago is outdated. Do you know of any information about the probability of an up mutation vs a down mutation? Also, is it possible that code changes over the years have affected any conventional stats that we've "known" over these years? I've seen some of your videos on your own experiments with getting stats from the game, so was thinking you might have the best input on this.
Do you mean animals losing stats with mutations when saying "down-mutations"? That's not in the game.
The mechanics are still the same. The game will treat them as 2 genders, when going through the breeding process.

Okay watching this I have a pretty big question - Is there a spreedsheet or some database that exists which will allow me to see the minimum levels dinos can spawn at max difficulty (1.0 for 150s to spawn), As you stated some dinosaurs spawn at lvl 15 minimum and not 5, I've been trying to find a lvl 5 desmodus for quite some time now and the lowest I can find is lvl 15. So I really wanna know if i'm just having bad luck and not finding my golden goose or if it doesn't exist in the first place.

Would my standard strat from a few years ago work? Which is making a perfect breeding pair with several females and then breeding for mutation on a male and swapping him in for the previous male?
Its still the standard aside from you dont need a perfect breeding pair, only a male with the stat you want to mutate.

hey aurora ,i been breeding my mutated male carcha with mutated females.base melee line was 40 and now i got 60 melee male but just capped mut count on father side 20/20,my rates are 3x,2 days for fully maturation,do you think its worth starting over with clean females or do i continue breeding this male but with clean females?tkz
I would continue with the male but with double the amount of clean females.

On the odd or even stats, could you just quit mutating at 253 if you have an odd number?
Yes you can do that. It usually also fine doing it. But if you want to maximize your stats a 253 looks bad :D Its mainly for your inner OCD

at 9:34 for the core mechanics, if a parent has 20 mutations then it can't trigger a new mutation, does that mean if i got a Perfect F and a 20M Male i can still breed those until 21M and that it cant get mutated into a different stat?
You can still get mutations in all stats but your chances are roughly halved because the capped animal is not available as a trigger for a mutation.

I now breeded a Triceratops male with 28 Points in Health with a low level Female and the egg in the Incubator says its Male Lvl 160 1 Mutation Male side 43 Points in Health is this possible or am i just dumb or what happens here
I'm not sure that the mutations being 20 or above is a limiter anymore.... I've bred above 20 recently and it increased the mutations on both sides.
20 never really was a limiter

@TiiaAurora no this is on ps5. Although I say consistent, idk if the mutation counter isn't supposed to go up if you don't get a mutation. That's what I have been using to tell me if a mutation occurs, which.... may be wrong now that I think of it.
@@meandmyshadowgovshh If you breed mutated with mutated the mutation counter will go up regardless. Without getting a new mutation.
i have 4 females and 1 male all level 372 with Matrilineal mutations of 54066666/20 and patrilineal of 2092903/20 is there no way i can mutate these anymore? (i traded for the eggs of these)

Hi, Can I replace males instead of replacing females? I have two Carnos max level, they are the originals, and one has really high melee and the other really high hp, a mutated female came out of them with extra hp and a really cool color, what can I do?
You breed the female with an unmutated make to get her stat on a male baby. Check out my video about mutation stacking that explains it.

I have a breeding pair but the they have 2 mom and 3 dad mutations on both. If i breed them the babies are identical which i wanted to get a bunch of females to start getting mutations. Am I doomed because this has caused false mutation numbers to hit 20/20 sooner or can it be saved? Your videos are great but still confused if this is saveable or if my two 185 deinos need a 150 with no mutations thrown in to save it
Yea I would get at least clean females and use those for mating.

You're only mutating the dad's stats anyway. So the baby would need to get that and then have a mutation on it.

Yeah I don't have weeks lol anybody got recommendations on what to change my settings too? I've tried before but they'd mature to fast I couldn't imprint or they'd need an imprint every 20 seconds for 3 % imprint progress so I obviously haven't figured it out yet and I'm playing by myself trying to ascend I can't have 300 dinos I can't freaking feed 30 baby's and the other few dinos I have with out constantly having to worry about meat
Settings can only change the speed. Otherwise only mods can help
You don't need to imprint onto them when breeding for mutations. Do that for the final product.

What happens of I breed mutant female with mutant male? Cuz I got male with 4 mutant from dad and 1 from mother and I got one same but female so of I breed them together I won't get stats?
You will artificially drive up the mutation counter and cap your counter before even reaching new mutations

This is a great vid its very clear and well made but onestly breeding in ark is so convoluted and confusing it feels like im going to fucking university lol. at this point i don't even have a desire to figure all this out 🤣 way too much work and far, FAR too complicated lol
I just have to say, if a core game mechanic takes months or years to do, it was poorly thought out

This is so complicated, whoever created this system is quite frankly insane.
this system turns a lot of people off, imagine doing all this work just to farm some bosses then do all this work again on a new map (ik you can transfer tames but still, this is just asinine)
