I managed to make this, it was tricky for me honestly but the results were fantastic. I needed a graduation suit and this jacket tutorial really saved me at the time. I'm back because now I need a suit Jacket for an interview! Thanks again Jess!
A *VERY* detailed pattern making, and sewing video. However you did it a way that didn't feel information overload. Thanks you so much for sharing. For your first time you crush it!
@@JessDangDIY Hola tesoro, podrías por favor poner los subtítulos en español para tener una mejor comprensión y seguir bien tus conocimientos y consejos para la formación de tus proyectos?. Thank you so much I've been making headaches how to make the perfect blazer. And yes! Your DIY really helps me a lot though. Thank you so much and God bless you!
I don't know if I'll ever MAKE a blazer, but as usual you are a magical human with super simple teaching skills! I have used some of your techniques to make my doll clothes (I have a ball-jointed doll (BJD) and she's about 24 inches tall).
Recently I have added a blazer on the list I want to try to sew, worried if I ever find the courage and the right pattern (and wondering how is one even assembled) and suddenly this video popped out in my recommendations. I haven't expected it to include the pattern drafting as well and I am so delighted as now I can even customize it how I want to. Thank you!
**Please take note that in the Tutorial She is using Double-Sided Fabric. IF YOU ARE USING A ONE-SIDED FABRIC…. You have to FLIP the Sewing Pattern and then cut the other side..so both sides can MIRROR each-other. Do Not cut the Sleeves, front Pattern, and Lining all the same way unless intentional. We are so grateful for this tutorial and the learning experience! Thank you Jess 🙏🏾
Thanks for the tips for everyone. In fact my fabric isn't a double sided one. I has turned the face of the pattern when cutting for each side of the jacket.
This is soooo beautiful. At first, I was afraid, but then I tried making it for myself and it came out BEAUTIFUL 😍. I love how you put the viewer through each process. I think I'll make more 😁 Thank you very much Jess!
I can't believe it! I've always wanted to make a blazer but I didn't know how, this is the best tutorial I've seen and all thanks to you Jess. I'm so excited to do it ❤️🤩
I am always amazed by how you break down a complicated process and make it seem doable. Pure genius & beautiful work! Thank you for sharing your gift. 🙌🏽💜🙌🏽
Thank you so much for the video. Have been watching many videos, but this is the only videos in which I learnt how to make a suit. Step by step, will give your explanation 100/100
At first I was like I’m confused where starting to make pattern but then I was like ok it all make since. Well explained tutorial. I have to give it a try and just stop being lazy. Thank you.
Oh Jess!! Your tutorials are the best of the UA-cam. Your explanations and step by steps are easy and amazing. Your channel is so helpful, an of course, I love watching your videos. I need a basic shirt/blouse by you, for wearing with my knitting vest or this jacket!…many thanks Jess . Hugs❤
Thank you for a great tutorial. i just have one question- when you cut the sleeve pieces it looked like you had the 12cm extra bit on both sleeve pieces but when you sewed it together it was only on one?
whats good about ur videos is that u show how to make the patterns wich is nice pls keep up the good work u are really helping us to make our own clothes thnx
Winter is starting here and I need one for my wardrobe! Thanks Jess, your videos have encouraged me to sew a lot. I'm learning by myself since last year, your content is amazing for me. Keep going!
Thank you so much for this! Your video is so descriptive! The jacket looks so cute! Youre an artist!! I hope mine turns out as good as yours! I'm sure it will with your instructions !
This tutorial was the best tutorial on the internet for a blazer. loved the video!! thank you much i really wanted to make a blazer. but i have one request, can you add a link to the pattern you made with the written measurements that you used. it is so complex, the pattern i mean. You explained it wonderfully the pattern is just to complex for me. lots of love, keep up the great work!
Ooo are we having a “tailored” clothes series?? If so, one idea, have you seen the oversized button down blouse dresses? I don’t know what the style is called but they look more professional , like for work clothes. Sometimes they billow in the back, sometimes they are tiered or have cool pleats.
Thank you very much for your kindness 🥰🥰 and thank you for the free pattern. I’m very happy and excited to try sewing it. Your explanation of sewing is very detailed and easy😍😍
Thank you for your tutorial.i have the same size as you and i am glad that you use centimeters, cause i always work with cm.so it was very easy for me to follow
OMG Jess! You made one of the most complicated garments literally from scrap! Tell us, did you go to fashion school??? Im amazed by your talent and your hability to break down complicated processes in a much simpler way!
Hi Jess, thank you for your awsome tutorial. I have a question to the pattern. When I follow your tutorial: cutting the collar from the front pattern like you do, I end up with shoulder seams on the front pattern that are 1 cm shorter than the shoulder seams on the back pattern? When I watch your sewing tutorial however the shoulder seams seem to match up? Can you clarify how to make the shoulder seams match? When following your instructions for the pattern making, the shoulderseams don't match. I really want to make this blazer. Thank you.
I'm actually trying out this diy, i've already made the pattern and cut the fabric 🌸 i'll edit this when i'm done 🥰 EDIT: it turned out so good!!! i love it so much, the collar part was what worried me the most but it came out perfect. I made some alterations, i made a cropped version and i didnt do the pockets and the buttons on the sleeves. Over all the tutorial was perfect 🌸🥰
0:47 The back pattern 4:51 The front pattern 8:08 The sleeve pattern 11:27 Making the front pocket 15:34 Makeing the main body & the collar of the blazer
Wao the result is amazing, I don't even need to buy pattern I can make my own, and the lining technique is unique and so well done, thanks Jess I have learn a lot with your videos. Blessings
Measurements you need: 1. Top of shoulder to mid-butt(length of jacket). 2. Hip size(width).** 3. Neck size -back of neck, between shoulders(neckline width). 4. Shoulder length -From top of shoulders(where the seam sits). 5. Top of shoulder to bust line. 6. Top of shoulder to above belly button(waistline). 7. Bust size(top width).** 8. Waist size(width)** 9. Ok wow definitely gonna try making this. Also can you do a button up shirt sewing diy? There are many videos but your videos are so much easier to undedstand.
I cannot get over the skills you have You so remind me of my nephew with his tiny paper masterpieces you have to do. Q&A dying to know how come up with all these amazing makes . God bless your mind and heart 🙏🏾❤️👍
i made a blazer coat for myself following your steps and it turned out so so beautiful, You're an amazing person i had to thank youu but i can't thank you enough! have a great day, Jess! :)
Another hit, Jess! I was JUST thinking this morning about how I want to make a blazer (someday when I'm more experienced!). Saving this video for when that day comes.
Hello Jess, thank you for this tutorial. I have a question about the lining. You put 3cm S.A at the bottom of the pattern. You cut the main fabric with the allowance. How much allowance did you put at the bottom of the lining fabric? Because if you cut the lining fabric with the same 3cm allowance at the bottom, it will not sit in the jacket
The blazer is on and popping....I love it and can difinately see myself rocking it.....you are beyond talented am always amaze with the out come of your work and i 👑 you queen of sewing the best on utube...cheers🍷
This is great! I'm making my draft, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what happens when you flip the fabric at around 19:30 min mark before sewing. How did you do that to sew it?
For the lining pieces - is it only the sleeves that should be four centimeters shorter? Or also the lining fabric for the inside of the jacket? I'm excited to try this DIY out but want to make sure I am doing it all correctly.
Wow Jess you are a pro! This is so tricky, did you get any help? If you did it yourself it means you are so talented, I’ll have to watch the video many times to make it myself
Hi! It looks amazing and Im drawing the pattern now. I have a question: At 2:40 you draw a straight line that its 1/5 bust size. I figure it's 90 cm/5 =18 cm. But at 3:26 you draw another line - 1/4 bust size + 3 cm = 23.5 cm. If the size is 90 cm I think the result would be 25,5 cm. Im having trouble with that part. Thank you so so much
Hi. Thank you for this video. Are all the lining pieces (front, back, sleeves) smaller by 1cm than the main fabric or only sleeve lining pattern is smaller than sleeve main fabric pattern? Thank you 😊
Hello Jess. I have been watching your videos from few months and i would like to thank you for making videos in so detail and simple way . I would like to make request if you could make pattern making video on Hanbok?

It's light cotton fabric

Thank you for a great tutorial. i just have one question- when you cut the sleeve pieces it looked like you had the 12cm extra bit on both sleeve pieces but when you sewed it together it was only on one?
No, it was on both
Right? On paper both sides of the sleeve have it but on 22.15 minutes just one side has it, the more "round" side
I was so confused 😅

My back and front shoulder have a difference of 1cm after cutting the collar. Did you use a precut collar? If so what changes should I make?
It's better to recheck the total length of the collar pattern and the back and front pattern before cutting.
Thanks a lot. This tutorial has the best step by step. It's so easy to catch up with and you explain it really well!

The lining will be 2cm shorter than the main one
Wow finally it here. I’m really excited to make it.🥺🥺🥰
