    Thanks for the video. I'm an amateur just finishing up similar repairs on my 02 wagon. Your videos are a great guide to the "right way" to do things. While my work would hardly be considered professional, I am also trying to do it the right way welding in new metal and aggressively attacking any rust I find. Seeing it done the wrong way as this car was makes me feel better about what I'm accomplishing. My car had that rubber undercoating on most of the underbody from the factory (as far as I know, I've had the car since 2006). Even the factory undercoating seems to encourage rust and there are definitely areas that will need to be wire wheeled and repainted eventually as well.

    Learned a lot from watching this video. Thanks for posting! I have similar issues and one shop was worried about working on my Hawkeye because in addition to the rockers, the rust looks like it is eating into the floors like on this vehicle. So they were saying the rust will just keep going. Were you guys concerned that the floors on this car would continue to rust? You said you didn't want to "poke a hole in them if you didn't have to" so then how do you know if they are strong enough to paint over? Also the mounts for the outrigger assembly looked kind of rusted out as well. Where do those attach to (I had thought it was the rocker panels) and would the body have been strong enough for you to replace these and the bushings if your client wanted you to do that? I know that's a lot of questions, so grateful for whatever parts you have time to respond to.

    • @TheSubieSanctuary
      @TheSubieSanctuary  Рік тому

      Glad it could give you some insight.
      I actually have another vid coming next Friday, similar rust repair job. It needed the outrigger mounts reconstructed. The floor beyond the (inner rocker) which is from pinch weld to floor was good. But i have seen many that are soft or already developing holes. With interior removed obviously they can be cut out and repaired to last but really just depends how far you want to take it. Rust is unforgiving, you can fix everything you can see and the car can still continue to rust from deeper within unfortunately. But stay tuned for next Fridays vid, hopefully some better angles or redemption from how bad they can bounce back from
