These videos about the behind-the-scenes is probably tedious to make but man, thank you for the process and how to do it! A lifesaving process for otherwise scrapped cars! Definitely looking to more!
Very helpful video. I'll be doing this on my 05 FXT. What gauge stock did you go with? Looked like 24ish? Keep up the great work, eye and ear pro goes a long way. Cheers
The back of patch would be sprayed with weld thru around edges and etch primer in middle. Then once all done and painted. We blast inside rockers with cavity wax, fluid film or krown. Any sort of sticky rustproofing oil will do inside.
@@jeff666p you first would spray inside of patch with weld through around edge and etch in center before welding. Then for the after coating, there is over 30 factory holes along each rocker panel. A bunch through the top under interior door kick panels, the side skirt clips holes along side and the bottom side skirt clips holes. Or like how a rust proofing facility would do it, drill a couple holes in inconspicuous spots, run rust proofing wand through rocker and cap with a plug.
That’s definitely not true, it takes 30 hours to do one entire rocker replacement. Then youll be painting the door jambs. This took a couple hours and some sheet metal out of the recycling bin. Keeping the repair below skirt line. No painting required
@@TheSubieSanctuary But don't many manufacturers sell complete rocker panels on their website? All it would be is a simple cut and weld. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@ChefofWar33 the only options are subie savers or subaru oem. Oem is very expensive and subie savers never has stock and still expensive. In needing bigger sections but not the whole rocker we have just cut from a manufactured rocker
@@TheSubieSanctuary Subaru's website shows the rocker panels for 270 dollars. And shipping is about $90. Its not bad at all. My pet peeve when people jack up on the pinch welds, I have walked away when viewing cars for sale when I see this, no matter how nice the rest of the car maybe.
Can I hook up with you for regular help on this 2004 Subaru forester? I have been on their death bed so the neuro chemistry and functionality have been greatly robbed. When I do start to get a little pace then they attack me one way or another. I jacked on the brackets between the pinch weld and the small cross member but both sides from approximately the back door to the quarter panel are now completely open. If you have any contacts in the Baltimore area where I can get someone to work with that would be very helpful The only Canadian place I know of is Clarks Burger but the Toronto guy was of no help in my need categories. A shout out for Jayden Rylee and her coherts and Juliana and her coherts from the Gridless Homestead for these sickafents stealing their respective spirits.

😩 wish I was in Canada would bring my car to you guys asap! Love how ocd you are about the bends being perfect great craftsmanship. Great work brotha
Super therapeutic, fresh Wrb is so intoxicating
"and all of my work is covered up". 🤣
Yo my man, I enjoyed the video but using a grinder with cutting disc and no eye protection is really stupid.
Very well done!!! Also love the safety squint
yeah I was looking at that thinking about how dumb I was being lol
@@TheSubieSanctuary I have a cataract in my left eye from a piece of metal that sliced into my lens. Good idea to wear safety glasses.
I’m amazed, didn’t expect it to be clean again
Keep up 👍🏻
Nice, having that bender really does help.
Thanks for the how to video. Have the exact same project on the go for my 04 Sti.
Nice work Rob! 🤘
so satisfying to watch
Great work !! Keep the videos coming!
Amazing work!
well done!
Hey man , where are you in Canada located?
Mono, Ontario

Can I donate so that you start wearing eye protections ^
what cfm is your compressor for spraying?
Where can I get the metal to make patches? And what’s the thickness used? Thanks!
22gauge is what we use, you can get at most auto parts stores or in Canada you can get a Canadian tire
Great work! Wondering if there's any plan on another sticker contest?
Absolutely! We have had a sweet lil bugeye wrx sedan stashed away for awhile with plans to build it for next contest!
@@TheSubieSanctuary Can't wait! I'll be getting a sticker again for sure. Thank you!
Did you weld a piece to the inner rocker panel as well?
When they are gone we do weld in a drop down piece to keep it factory strength.
How do you seal the inside of the panel?

How much do you charge for this type of project?
Rust is unique to each car, tough to quote. Currently charge $60/hr for body work
@@TheSubieSanctuary awesome, thanks for the response! Do you know of any shops that handle this in the NJ/NY area?
Where's your shop in Canada?
Orangeville, Ontario
Mine are pretty much gone, what do you guys recommend for replacing them, idk how the inside of them look but the outside it really bad
Subie savers.com makes complete outer rockers. For the inside and the underside to floor they have to be made by hand
Almost just better off buying a new rocker panel in its entirety. Not sure if this is worth the time you put in.

My dude.. get some safety glasses. Safety squints can only go so far.

I very much can relate brother!
@@TheSubieSanctuary I actually had a mechanic tell me that the pinch welds were the preferred place to jack up on. Now I know!
