I really like how they are no longer doing adventures but I hope they make old adventures accessible again in some manner, obviously changed to account for the lack of competition
I think it would be a really cool feature to add in safer seas or solo seas and have them work like tall tales for those that are interested in the narrative but wasn’t around for those story events

I wouldn’t be surprised if that newest weapon has something to do with the Heavy Swords. Making them their own thing

Not trying to say too much but can confirm at 7:24 Horn of fair winds does in fact control wind in a way, but, it does a little more than just that. Also, there's more than 1 weapon. Not an axe, not a pike, not a grappling hook, hand cannon or any of that lol. Anyone with insiders can go check it all out. I will add, reapers running will be more difficult and double gunning will be used obviously but I honestly don't think it will be the only meta like it is now. That's all I'm gonna say though. Won't say exactly what the changes are lol.

I feel the weapons will be more utility based, like we already have the 3 gun staples which are snipers, pistols and shotguns. Rare tends to stick with weapons from the Golden Age of piracy. The weapons will probably have an impact on the boats in some way like the popular boarding axe. A musket is possible as a one shot weapon that has slow reload and less ammo maybe but I doubt it. I am really struggling to think of what these weapons could possibly be if they sticking to the pirate theme.
Adventures being canceled is the best thing I've heard in months.

I’d thinks a dagger as a new weapon would be cool. Make it so you can run while it’s equipped but make the damage weak, like 10% of a players health. They could also make it to where you can throw it, but you wouldn’t be able to block with it.
It would be cool if they did a tall tell story of how to control the kraken and the meg of legends and to use them to attack enemies ships.
The new weapon better be melee. I think there should be as much melee variety as ranged variety. We already have a balanced gun (pistol) imprecise short range gun (blunderbuss) and precise long range gun (musket) The cutlass should be the balanced blade while the imprecise short range blade should be an axe while the precise long range blade should be a pike.
When I first started playing SOT it was during the first Adventure. Hearing they are canceled is heart breaking to me. I can't help but think "We'll get Flameheart and then we'll get TINY CRUMBS of story each season and the story will NEVER BE FINISHED! I hope that isn't the case, but Adventures and Mysteries are what kept bringing me back to SOT and I've been playing less since Monkey Island finished. My only hope is that Tall Tales become more regular because I love the game's story and I don't want to see it die. As for new weapons, the only thing I can think of is the boarding ax everyone hopes for, maybe dual daggers for faster melee.
You wont get tiny crumbs they are doing like 2018 with story in seasons and gameplay. And wdym cant think of any weapons? Dagger, axe, hatchet, bow, hand cannon, crossbow etc
I couldn't think of any traditional pirate weapons because of my worries. Like I said I joined right in the middle of the first adventure, so I don't know what it was like in 2018. Unless seasons get really short or Tall Tales become more regular then for me at least the story is going feel like it's starting again but at a crawl. I'd be fine with that I guess but the story has been at a halt for so long that they better do good by it.@@Grev..
@@Jawmax 2018 had the stories in gameplay like. When skeleton ships was added in story players had to fight to defend outpoust and the last boss of the event was a sot character. Devils roar was added to progress the story in gameplay too. So i think having story part of seasons and gameplay again will be great. And we might get new tales too
As someone who's been around since launch, trust me when I say this is a good decision. Sea Of Thieves are phenomenal at world evolution and scattered storytelling. Think how the first mystery was but throughout the whole world, all year long, building up to and teasing updates - the gameplay will tie in with the story and world building. We then bi-anually get a Tall Tale set. There are lots of possibilites for other aspects of storytelling - things the Legend Of The Veil voyage are a perfect example. I could talk about this extensively, but the point is, defintely have faith in the decision!
I do agree now mostly, especially with Legend of the Veil. As long as they don't forget the Tall Tale sets. Still, I will miss them, I just hope they will still do events like Lost Sands or Return of the Dammed.@@GhostAdmiral
Im holding out for a boarding axe as a weapon, but im assuming its gonna be a dagger. Faster swing to interrupt swords or something but with less range/damage.

If the new weapon is just another type of gun, like the guns are already overused there is three types, need more melee weapons, honestly I feel like you should be able to use the other stuff in the inventory as panic weapons, use a plank for quick whack or blocks three hits, throw a cannonball at someone like its a shot-put and stun them, throw your food at someone and give them the screen covered effect like the bucket of puke the downside of doing that is your tossing away food to heal, it be just panic weapons for there are so many people that mis-click when trying to pull up their weapon.
Shovel does a whack, Lantern does a whack, instrument does a whack, spyglass does a whack, company and clock are small so a toss weapon, can use the equipment chest to recover those, Bucket well if your using the bucket it should be filled with boiling or puke.
I hope map alterations/changes start happen again and more often . Would love to see a few new islands or outposts, area . And they made the sea glass stuff look soo good
Grappling Hooks for better traversal or heavy axes that can pry off planks, adding a new thing to watch out for in Sea of Thieves Ship combat.
All the old adventures I hope get brought back as tall tales. As a new-ish player I never got to experience them.
This completely. Guild Wars 2 has a similar "Living World" system that they eschewed in favour of "instanced" story progression chapters, because the world changed completely in the span of about 2 years, meaning that nobody outside of a relatively small playerbase got to see it, and new players jumped from the main story (which was also instanced) into "Season 2" which featured characters you'd never met before because they were all introduced in season 1. They recently re-implemented Season 1 through the same system, meaning people can at least experience the entirety of the story they missed, which was a great change.
I hope the new weapon is either a rapier or a musket, those sound really fitting for a pirate game
(I know there are rapiers as swords skins, but they deserve theirs own class)

Im thinking theyre gonna turn the sword variants ( rapier and heavy sword) into actual different play styles. Like heavy swords hit like trucks but are really slow. Rapiers are fast but dont to as much damage. And cutlasses are cutlasses
I'd love a portable harpoon or something that can damage ships even if it only has one shot.
A shield would be odd but useful.

Blunderbuss needs a slight nerf, no weapon should be able to 1 shot somone. 99% health fine, but 100% takes the tic for tac style of dueling out the window.

I want the weapon to be a Dagger or a Boarding Axe. Boarding Axes swing slower but can also rip planks off holes in a ship.
Daggers could be a half ranged half melee. Holding the block button could bring up a throwing feature.
We already use our daggers to vote often so it would be interesting to use it as a weapon.

There is three weapons I want added
1. A musket something long range like the eye of reach (but no scope it's a one shot kill on players and takes a lot longer to reload)
2. A boarding Axe (you still have to go up ladders but if you're on their ship you can remove the planks that's been added and it takes time to do so)
3. A dagger (we already have emotes that use it so why not make it a weapon)

So over a year of no storyline developments and we're trying to spin the cancellation of Adventures as some sort of positive? I'll believe it when I see it, and since buying the game in Season 8; I haven't seen much of anything at all.
I bought the game after hearing about it's progressing story as a live service game, after the player's chose to ressurect Flameheart, and the following season was Flameheart's PvP faction going to war. Since then absolutely nothing has happened story wise other than MI.
To answer your question GA; at this point no I am not excited about the future of the game, as I've sat for over 2 years now waiting for the story to advance whilst delays and drip-feed content releases, all to the background of 'OvEr aT tHe PiRaTe EmPoRiUm" every month.
Gonna kinda miss the adventures. As for for the weapon, id tell you but have to keg you after but trust me its quite a treat.

I'm still holding out for another crossover with more Tall Tales. Peter Pan and Neverland would be a good thematic fit. But I think something crazier and more popular might be more successful.
100%, and it'll happen. Tall Tale cycles are every 2 years excluding Heart Of Fire and Seabound Soul (2019 - Shores Of Gold, 2021 - A Pirate's Life, 2023 - The Legend Of Monkey Island). I firmly believe this year is the sandbox year with minimal story, they'll bring Flameheart back Q3 or Q4, then 2025 will be a lore year with the next set of Tall Tales either another crossover, or purely SoT.
We need a "One Eyed Willy" crossover from the Goonies!! ☠️

Sad to see adventures go but they had their merits. After all, a lot of the sea of thieves content were build around trial and error. While adventures worked in terms of bringing excitement to the story and bringing them up to speed, it's didn't work out in terms with gameplay. But with that Rare is now trying something new to keep the story going while making the gameplay exciting.
Completely agree with you, I loved the how they did the storytelling before adventures were a thing!
Insiders have leaked that it's in fact two new weapons that are being added in season 12. The dubble barel flintlock and throwing knives.
The double barel flintlock wil have six bullets, three per barel. Two shots can be fired in quick succesion or two at once with a slight charge delay like the regular sword lunge. Each bullet hit wil deal 40 damage thus making it impossible to one-shot a player with it.
For the throwing knives, you will still get five. They can be thrown quite rapidly and also have a fast melee slash attack. The damage of these attacks is unknown to me. Once thrown, the knives can also be picked back up.

Even if I have yet to play the game, a handheld version of the Harpoon that could be (even temporarily) hook onto a ship or even various surfaces. Does sound like it be a fun choice.
@@Icortherainwing I mean for pve it'd be amazing for navigating islands and high terrain but for pvp it would be absolutely awful. It would basically be like combining call of duty advanced warfare with sea of thieves with unmatched team sizes. It'd basically introduce ninja pirates with guns zip lining across the map up, down, left, right throwing blunderbombs on top of you while your blunders wouldn't reach high enough. Imagine new guys joining sea of thieves to be met with a bunch of gun wielding teleporting blunder pirates. They'd never pick the game up again lol.

All I want is to be able to play high seas as a solo player and be put on a server with just other solo players. Why is Rare so freaking dumb? They don’t need to add a whole new sub variant of safer seas, a mode which sucks to play. God they’re so out of touch.

I mean not really. SoT has horizontal progression. You can't "buy" an advantage, especially after the DA sails got nerfed. Really the only big advantages you can buy are captained ships which are pretty easy to earn, emissary licenses which just make you earn more money faster, and supply crates... All of which you can get within a few hours of play. Plus money is so easy to come by, that 10k gold isn't much. That's basically just 1 Chest of Legends, which isn't much. Most of my sessions I make at least 100k, so I don't think it's to bad.

the concept of adventures was good but it was mostly just recycled content and too much sailing, the community adventures were fun tho like shrouded deep and lost sands but other than that pretty mid

Just caught a little bit of a cold!
I wish instead of adding new weapons, they would fix the existing hand to hand combat system.
with quick swap gone the combat feels slow and stale and with the low FOV limit it can also feel nauseous to some people including one of my friends.
And the having a gun that 1 shots people is simply not healthy for the game.
more movement tech like sliding and mantling objects and rocks in the environment would make the gameplay flow much better. (it would also remove the not being able to jump onto a tiny rock thing)
For the guns themselves, i think there would be mixed opinions on this but i would like it if the system for bullets was moved from a projectile based system to a hitscan one. This would make good aim feel much more rewarding and would make long distance gun fights actually worth doing.
With these changes (especially the movement ones), the sword would feel much better to play against and people would stop complaining about it.

Thank god those adventures are going away. They are and were a waste of development resources, which have barely developed the story, and brought little to no longlasting change to the Sea of Thieves other than maybe 2 islands.

They did it on purpose if it was a mistake was a point of having a adventures I didn't have a single problem with those Adventures and I have like them and have to be replayable by cold tall tales and there should be a balance a bit.
