This seems like an awesome update of the NES original! Different opponents, more music(Though it would have been cool if these only played when only 1 life is left), cooler presentation with the score, getting bonus lifes, time changing... the perfect update for this game!! This should have been the NES version!
@@Crimefighter This is a common misconception - in actuality, the NES version came first. Urban Champion was released on the Famicom on November 14th, 1984, while VS. Urban Champion was released on December 10th of that same year. The Famicom versions came first, and then they were ported to arcade machines with added features.
The high score theme was used in severla other games and was even remixed for the NES in Bill Barker's Trick Shooting. Nintendo gave us a cut-down version of Urban Champion for NES, a game that is probably the worst of the original black box set.
I noticed a few differences from the NES version that make the arcade version seem a bit less repetitive. The music is livelier, the player's opponents vary in colour, and the sky changes from day to night as time passes.
I don't believe there was ever a Vs. Wild Gunman. I can't seem to find any evidence that it existed. (not counting the mock version in "Back to the Future Part II")
There actually was a Wild Gunman released in the arcades by Nintendo back in 1974. But, it was real old school, and used scrolling film images for the graphics. Nothing like the NES version, really.
@@h2ofan80 my friend and me collect arcade games. It's the Nintendo vs. unisystem so with the correct rom set and ppu you can run it on og hardware. It just seems that the rom chips and rom images are rare. I'm not even sure they are in mame
Breaking news, m'kay! There's a young blue man beating guys up on the streets day and night! He's so strong he can knock people into manholes! And he beats black people too, so he's clearly a racist! He even claims to be the _"urban champion"!!_ If you see this man, *cry, scream and run and dial 911!!* (There will be more updates as the story further develops...)
Just announced today that this will be released on Switch as part of Hamster’s Arcade Archives series.

9:46 NONBINARY FIGHTER
17:56 This has the best results screen music.
I think they used the same music for a couple of different Vs. System games, including the light gun games and Vs. Balloon Fight
9:46 what happened to that guy?
A version of urban champ.....that doesn’t suck and has actual variety to keep things interesting? Never thought such a thing existed......
The home conversions took out features...cause they had to have a draw to the arcade.

This looks better and looks like it plays smoother than the nes
This got a lot right that the NES Version failed to get right.

This game should be dumped to play it on MAME Emulator
Also, anyone have music rips for this?
when will you have the game for MAME ?
You should upload other Vs. Nintendo Arcade Games from Nico Nico Douga. For example, Vs. Wild Gunman if you can find it.

Maybe we can ask Nintendo of America to make more Vs. Nintendo arcade cabinets and make a Vs. Wild Gunman.

Dude, you better update your description.
Sorry for the delay. I just did.
@@VahanNisanian Heh ^^ Now all we need to do is rip the music from it. That MIGHT be tricky.
