Two things strike me about this scene:
-when Todd and Janelle mention the 800 swinging by earlier, you could see the micro calculations the 1000 is making in that instance about how to answer them without arousing suspicion (great acting by Robert Patrick)
-the 1000 is an advanced prototype over the 800 not only in physical strength and abilities but also in infiltration and how to deal with humans; you can see that he acts more naturally than the 800 does but there’s still something off or not quite right about him which shows the limit of Skynet’s programming (again, great acting by Robert Patrick)
One bonus observation. The studio put a lot of pressure on James Cameron to cast an even bigger bodybuilding type than Arnold as the 1000 but Cameron resisted. He said the 1000 is an advanced more sleeker model over the 800 so while the 800 is a tank, the 1000 should be a Porsche. Well done, James Cameron.
One subtle detail is that when he gets out of the car he looks as though he is scanning the area for threats very precisely, at least that's what I got from that scene.
Hmmm very informative thanks for thatt
They were going to cast Billy Idol until he had a bad motorcycle accident. They also considered Blackie Lawless from W.A.S.P. but he was taller than Arnold.
I said something similar regarding the advanced model terminator in Dark Fate, people complained the character appeared too bland, normal, unremarkable.
But that is what you would want in an infiltration machine. It should blend in.
And the T-X is a Ferrari
I absolutely love when Robert Patrick as T-1000 flips from an emotionless killing machine to a kind police officer.
Since when were police officers kind 🤣🤣
@in4mus85 bruh cops can be nice I’ve met a lot of police officers and they were all friendly
Actually, the T-1000 can feel emotions. That's why Skynet rendered the T-1000 obsolete, for fear that it would turn against Skynet. That's also why most Terminator's CPUs are set to "read only". Meaning that they can imitate the behaviors of other people, but they do not have a personality to call their own. The T-1000, along with the T-X, is set to "read/write". Meaning that they can imitate other behaviors and improvise on those behaviors. Granting them the ability to understand, and even feel, emotions. If you pay attention, you may notice instances where the T-1000 shows emotions such as fear, frustration, amusement, and possibly satisfaction. I don't know for certain, but I think that may be why you never see a T-1000 in the "future war" scenes. Because Skynet only used one.
@@ryederforbs9072 I actually thought, that the T-1000 was artificial life. He was screaming in pain and suffering, before finally being terminated.
The T-1000 is the new, user friendly model Terminator. If he can’t kill you with kindness, rest assured he will find another way.
Robert Patrick KILLED it in this movie, his acting is absolutely perfect. The way the T-1000 acts is perfectly normal except for a very subtle something that makes him unsettling.
It's like almost too normal, too perfect. Like how an outsider would perceive "normal" behavior.
I like Terminator 1 more but you have to respect how this movie does the same stuff somewhat, but in a larger scale and more accessible to bigger audiences
without becoming lame and Disney-esque. In Part 1, Arnold went house-to-house and killed "Sarah Connor" - here, Patrick just talks to
people at their house for info (later killing them)
Robert playing the T1000 is one of THE greatest villains of all time. Absolutely incredible performance.
Yeah he sounds too much like an NPC. No regular cop would speak that formally like a textbook.
A credit to the casting department as well
It will always give me chills to know the T-1000 talks so politely to John's foster parents here and ends up murdering them later that same day.

(John 11:25-26) "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
Repent and turn to Christ Jesus before it is too late. For after this comes the JUDGMENT. Christ died for your sins and rose on the third day, showing that anyone who trusts in him for salvation, will have everlasting life.

@@borris3768 hey, I get what you mean. But it does actually show a very strong female character. Sarah definitely is no shrinking violet.😳 And it is nice to see that here.
In addition, I think that's why I always love most of the female characters in George Lucas movies: Princess Leia in Star Wars A New Hope and Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark. They were tough, smart, wisecracking women who didn't take any shit from anyone.
So, yeah, I do hate bringing genders into any movie. However, you have to look at these strong women characters because, back in the early cinema days, there were a lot of women who had to be saved by big, strong, he - man types.
So, in that sense, it was and still is, good to see a strong female character portrayed instead of a weak, vulnerable, and sometimes even stupid female who could in no way defend herself. That's my take on it anyway.🤷♀️

The T-1000 is one of those movie villains that make horror movie villains less scary.
This scene should have been a hint that Arnie’s character is good this time - Todd mentioned the “big guy on a bike” having just visited before him.
The fact that they are still alive & unharmed (as well as calm) just proves it.

this one should have been left in the movie to show that the hospital indeed was a bad place. and t-100 visiting John Connor's "pig sty" room? that was gold!
Little detail I love; when the T-1000 steps out of the car, his body language changes slightly. He usually has this way that his head is angled forwards, an intensity to him, moves his eyes then his head to follow in a sweeping motion like a security camera. Once he's out the car, the intensity fades. He does several glances up and down the street, like a human would, instead of instantly getting out and heading directly to the house (the first T-800 in the previous movie does this).

What's scary is how human the t 1000 acts when he needs to be
Bushman Sniper he went from that to just kill everything lol
Yes, the point is that during this time in a movie, we still didnt know which one of the two is there to kill John and which one to protect him.
Since Arnie was the big bulky bad guy in the first movie, and the guardian was thiner, more agile protagonist, we were led to believe that T-1000 here in fact is maybe the one to protect him.
Not untill the hallway scene do we actually find out which one protec and which one attac.
Yeah very natural. Still I do not understand why it wanted to keep picture of John Connor for itself though? Didn't T-1000 possess an image memory and cross check identification system within its memory? Maybe for not catching attention of Connor's family? It is supposed to be liquid metal with advanced computer. Lame. ^^
Miniature Plane you’ll notice the T1000 was asking around if anyone had seen John at the mall. I don’t think the photo was for itself. Rather, it was using the photograph to question others in public to narrow its search.
@@deaclavilis6760 He was using that picture to show to other people he encountered, if they've seen him around. It wasn't for himself
My dad worked on set of T2. He said Robert Patrick was a really nice and funny guy on set, and has loved him to this dad ever since.
My dad was Arnold sure he did Jesus breh stop trying to seem relevant 💀💀💀🤡🤡🤡

I love how the T-1000 is so friendly but there’s just something off about him, it’s subtle but he’s just...wrong somehow it’s so cool.
Funny enough, a recent interview with Robert said that's what they were going for. Wanted to imply to the viewers something was.......off with this guy. 😎
That shows how dangerous they really are. Unlike most terminators, t-1000 units can mimic emotions and human behavior patterns. Likely they're useful as spies and assassins.
Well-put!
If a co-worker talked to me in the same way as the T-1000 talked to the parents, I'd think he was going to do something really bad to me later on.
Yeah like when he puts on a devilish facial expression for half a second after the guy mentions T800 had shown up in the morning... amazing idea and rendering by the actor!!
The actor who portrayed him said exactly the same thing in a 2015 video
Here's a fun fact: Robert Patrick held his breath during points when he was on-camera but wasn't speaking, just to give himself a subtly inhuman appearance.
He would breathe through his nose instead of his mouth. He even did it during his runs to make him look more machine-like,.
He also didnt blink at all, except when interacting with humans and trying to pass himself as human.
@@williamshaw9047 I'm not being a douche, but that's how one should run. Your face should express
Zen/nothingness to it during activity. This is my favorite film of all time. I'm 32 years old & am a defensive tactics instructor & an American Ninia Warrior/Gymnastics coach. The body mechanics in this movie are truly amazing. Even though they are terminators, James Cameron shows precise decisions that any athletic human should and would make to preserve one's organism. The only CGI part of the t800 doing his tuck/roll at the end of the tanker chase scene showed us parkour 30 years in advance of us understanding that type of technique world wide via the internet. There are so many subtleties of tactical intelligence performed in this movie, most of which without CGI, that should show us humans what we are capable of. The movie taught me how to move with absolute free will. Stunt Men & Women are the worlds unsung heroes.
He did not eat in any scene of this movie, to make him look more machine.
He didn't ejaculate one time during filming to make him appear more like a machine.
Robert Patrick is the scariest terminator ever.
I personally find the T-800 endoskeleton creepier, but as for Terminator portrayals by actors, I most certainly agree with you.
He will never be topped as a terminator. That includes Arnold.
I wouldn't disagree with you, I wished he was on the 3rd terminator
True honestly he seems creepy in the flim that look can real fool someone!
The first was more scariest...for me . The judgment Day terminator was very strong but something of actor Patrick don't like me .
I love how the T1000 understand to blink when interacting with humans, this makes the machine a very good adapter.
I think I saw him breathing as well. Flawless acting by the T-1000 to appear human.
I remember when this film came out and I was a kid. Robert Patrick genuinely scared the hell out of me to the point where I had nightmares about him for weeks 🤣 Even now as an adult his facial expressions still creep me out. Such a great actor and even watching the film now I remember how petrified I was of him
Yes! I watched the movie when I was in my early teens and it immediately became my favourite "action" movie after the second or third viewing. The first night, however, it was like a horror masterpiece. I remember waking from a nightmare, terrified like the night I watched Alien.
I had a classmate whose face was pretty similar to Robert's... I called him "the bad terminator" 😂
@@mcmerry2846 watched this film again recently with my 14 year old son and it still gets to me seeing him come up through the flooring. I don't think I could sit in a classroom with someone who's facial expressions are similar
@@Laura329 not the expressions, but he was alike him. Like a twin from the actor, the real Patrick
Hahaha I was afraid of him too
I like the cocky smile the t-1000 gives when he learns of the t-800s presence. Almost like he’s looking forward to giving him an asskicking later on.
And yet it almost looks like emotion, which you would not expect.
At other times the T-1000 seems to be capable of narcissism, like admiring its own arm after turning it into a blade to kill Todd.
@@stevekaczynski3793 that’s because the T-1000 IS capable of Emotions, they were just as Self Aware as Skynet (maybe more so) and that’s why they weren’t Mass Produced because they could make their own decisions which included going against Skynet’s interests.
and the way he says "I wouldn't worry about him"... kinda savage xD
ua-cam.com/video/0R7WGgTXiOM/v-deo.html
which what made Terminator Sarah Conner Chronicles so special. Skynet had their hands full with TechCom reprogramming their cyborgs, Human Resistance turning the tide, and a faction of machines rebelling against SkyNet. This proves your point.
