To think if those secret category questions were answered correctly the pot would've been around $9000! Notice how fast Charlie O'Donnell said his production thing so fast like really had to pee! Lol!
This 1981 season is rare for TTD and moreso, The Joker's Wild....where the neon set and audience game premiered apparently. Interesting if so, as TTD had yet to tweak its set.
20:36 Phil Tonkin: Tonight at 7:00, TV's favorite request returns as Rich Little hosts You Asked for It. Then at 7:30, keep up with the latest on your favorite celebrities on Entertainment Tonight. Now stay tuned for Bullseye next here on Ch 9. WOR-TV New York 1981-82
The uncovered buzzers were returned & Jump-In Category was introduced on Wednesday, November 17, 1982 (first-run); Wednesday, August 17, 1983 (reruns).
Nope...the $50K winnings limit didn't come into effect for TTD until 1982, and while champions were allowed to continue after passing said limit, anything in excess of it would be donated to the contestant's favorite charity.
Looks like the scoreboard for the defending champion is still intact well into S4, huh? When did they began covering up the champion's scoreboard on the podiums?
I know it was changed by the 6th season. Also, I didn't notice until now, but the episodes taped at CBS from 1978-1980 (Season 1 to most of season 3) had a blue background behind the set. Episodes taped at KCOP from 1981 (the rest of season 3 to season 6 and season 8) onward had a black background, and the entire 1984-1985 season done at the Production Group didn't have the TTD logo on center stage.
One other tidbit Ivory: When TTD moved taping to KCOP in January 1981, they replaced the Sony ECM-53s for the contestants' podiums that they had been using since 1978.
That's a truly unique opening with the game board!
I wish they used that more often.
This was a great game show back in the 80's, I got hooked watching this from my hospital bed for 10 days while recuperating from surgery...
Mimi has an attitude! Have you seen her rolling her eyes and like slanted going to the left or right.
Thank you for posting this. Love me some Tic-Tac-Dough
This first-run episode aired on Wednesday, October 28, 1981.

I remember this game show and the host that also was the host of Debt.

When did they bring back the podiums with the buzzers, and introducing the jump-in category?
Maybe 82-83?
The uncovered buzzers were returned & Jump-In Category was introduced on Wednesday, November 17, 1982 (first-run); Wednesday, August 17, 1983 (reruns).
1982-1983 season. Lighted podiums were added too.
I noticed that Wink told Mimi she's near the $50,000 mark. Was Mimi going to be forced to retire like Joe Dunn on TJW?
No, as TTD did not air on the CBS O&Os until 1983, while TJW did move to the CBS owned stations during this season.
i think Mimi got defeated after $58,000 became highest female winner at the time.
Nope...the $50K winnings limit didn't come into effect for TTD until 1982, and while champions were allowed to continue after passing said limit, anything in excess of it would be donated to the contestant's favorite charity.
It seems like most of the contestants on Tic Tac Dough were male, so it's nice to see there was at least one female champ who won a car.
i.ve watched this show.
I was curious why Game Show Network never seems to air any episodes from 1981-1982. The Intro and Ending are too unusual, I guess so they skip those.
GSN simply not getting around to showing them makes much more sense than that.
They have to buy rights to air these. They didn't want to buy that season, as nothing really notable happened.
Or 1982-83.
Did GSN ever show any episodes with Wilbur Hicks? When was his reign?
Doesn't Wink know there is only one 500 dollar block in the bonus game?
This is from 1982, the KTVE station ID was playing NBC's Just Watch us Now campaign music for the the 1982-83 season.
I believe both "The Joker's Wild" and "Tic Tac Dough" aired reruns of the 1981-1982 season during the 1982-1983 season on local stations.
It was on the Monroe Louisiana area at which time!?
However, the NBC logo shown on that ID was not the 1979 Proud N, but rather the 1976-79 red and blue Trapezoidal N.

Is Charlie O'Donnell, a substitute announcer for Jay Stewart in 1981?
Nope, I think O'Donnell was permanent in 1981. Same deal with Bullseye and The Joker's Wild.
I don't have them, sorry.
@@VahanNisanian Yup, O'Donnell joined permanently in 1981 when Stewart left following the suicide of his daughter, Jamie.

IvoryM1986 Didn't Keith Klamer appeared on Jim Caldwell's season?
No, his run was in late 1984.
IvoryM1986 Didn’t Margaret was the other $50K+ winner of Season 6. I want to say it was her, but I’m thinking the opera singer was the one
It always bothered me that the Bonus Game involved no skill
