Basically, start as a boyscout, learn a bit of lock picking, a bit of sabotage, learn manipulation and acting mix it up together and done, you are a ninja

and one more element, spiritual refinement, which differentiates shinobi from thieves, robbers, murderers, etc... i do believe this is covered in one of Antony's books, possibly bansenshukai? can't recall at the moment.

I created my own form of ninjutsu for today!! Some based on the historical and of course modern!! Naked ninjutsu is the foundation!!

Basically, if you want to learn proper ninjutsu, enlist in your military as a special ops recruit or work in one of your national security agencies. There is almost no other way. Japanese ninja(s) did it, covert ops from all around the world did it. There are other professions though, like corporate spies, police agents that specialise in infiltration in criminal ranks, etc. Who are ninjas by the very definition of the word, no doubt, but they have rather narrow areas of expertise.
On the side note, Yugoslavian commandos from the 70s, 80s and 90s (can speak for sure before and after that period) were trained in Bujinkan's Budo Taijutsu (the actual name of the martial art). Bujinkan has the ability to teach you about survival in the outdoors, both group and solo useful tricks, ambushes, etc. And a great martial art to boot (tested involuntarily, though). But can they make a proper modern ninja out of you? They most likely can't and most certainly won't. Are you gonna learn electronic lock breaking, how to create explosives, poisonous gases, how to hack into computer terminals and similar stuff there? No, because it's illegal. As simple as that.

    • @thewildchimp
      @thewildchimp 8 років тому +3

Danny C Illumini I think Bujinkan get's a bit more hate than they deserve. Is Budo Taijutsu a legitimate set of martial skills that "survived" from medieval Japan and currently being teached by Mr. Masaaki? Only God knows. I don't care how many original books and scripts has one read or how good fighter one's teacher was - it is impossible to know for certain. But would it work in medieval Japan? Yes, it would. Can it work now? Only the fighting techniques. It is ridiculous to expect that planting wooden stakes or pouring poison over the rope from the ceiling would work in modern times. However, the techniques are nothing short of brilliant, both in warfare and on the streets. I never really understood why those "mystical warrior" or "skulking assassin" concepts are so popular nowadays. Bujinkan ninjutsu is pragmatic and efficient and, therefore - useful.

This was brief but well put. A lot of the ninja stuff you see is, lets be honest, essentially just "playing ninja". Like using a lot of Japanese words that sound authentic, and dressing up in garb and performing antiquated techniques and tactics with impractical tools and weaponry. A true contemporary ninja should be a survivalist, and acquire diverse skill sets germane to the modern age we live in. But most crucially is the mindset and philosophy of purpose he must maintain when it comes to pursuing his agenda and the decision making that goes with it. This is where he can ply his ninjutsu in a practical way for his own benefit or to the benefit of whatever end the ninja has intended.

Before I watch this video I going to say this. If someone wants to be train in ninjujustu, they should find a real true teacher, and not have Dr. Hasami or these other guys train them. A teacher who REALLY knows what Ninjujustu is and is not. Since there is no one in this world that really teaches REAL, honest Ninjujustu, won't be able to teach it. Because Ninjujstu is not a martial art.

    “Ninjutsu skills are illegal “
Laughs in American 😂 the idea of the militia is very similar and the skills overlap. This ain’t getting into Native American warfare either. Which is basically hunting other people.
But in all seriousness, I think this is why Americans are fascinated to the point of defending frauds of ninjutsu. I think we’re trying to get back to our ancestors skills

i don't know what to say to this, its pretty simple, many of the claims made by hatsumi and takamatsu, are not shown to be supported by evidence...
in my opinion, it appears takamatsu used the words ninjutsu and ninpo as some sort of marketing to draw students...

"Hatsumi had some scroll to backup some lineage, "
no such document has ever been produced,...
its just a story circulated among the buj to lend the illusion of credibility...
bujinkan isn't run like a school, it is run like a business...
the more people he can convince, the more money he can extort from ignorant foreigners...
the minute he admits his ninja story isn't true, the whole game ends...
i cant imagine dead ninja caring if they are named on a scroll, scribed after the fact obviously.
